Oh, yeah, these aren't really impressive at all; I personally like the crispness and variety of the decos, and most of the head molds are very well done (sunstreaker...); personally, I like combining tf's more than anything, so these are going to be bought irregardless.

I'm inclined to by Sunstreaker and Prowl of these for multiple reasons. The foremost being that I missed the Universe 2.0 figure of both. I know that they're really aren't crazy expensive for how old and popular they are, but I don't mind the instant gratification of these figures. The second is that these are pretty nice molds and are different enough from the universe/classics incarnations to be distinct on their own, owning the classics/universe characters takes nothing away from these dudes, and vice versa.

Frankly, this is absolutely absurd and flies in the face of the very facts that brought us to Combiner Wars.

Since Classics existed alongside and was the alternative to the various movie lines since 2006 and since oftentimes people were in one camp (movie) or another (Classics), I think the history of collecting and the forums on any TF site refutes what you claim.

Further, if Classics simply weren't good figures, we would not have come back to the basic styling of the Classics line with Combiner Wars. I mean...all these Classics/CHUG/Generations collectors out there who did not buy into 3P combiners have been chomping at the bit to get these for their Classics collection.

That is SO much better a Prowl head that the one we got on Universe Prowl. Vastly superior resemblance to Prowl that the Universe toy's more depressed-looking "aged and weary old timer Prowl" head and face.

And with the design of the chestplate brought out more in these colors than in Streetwise's darker chestplate colors, it becomes so obvious that they retooled the Dead End mold with Prowl in mind but decided to release Streetwise first since that chestplate is straight up Prowl's police car front in 2D form.

Oh, and as was stated earlier in this thread, the Mirage pic came from the Tumblr of David Willis (A.K.A. Walky) - http://itswalky.tumblr.com/post/126667640212/by-the-way-heres-what-mirage-looks-like-if-you

The unfortunate thing about Wave 4 is that there is no new random guy. We need a 4th random dude to complete the new guy combiner.

I suppose we need a new no-name torso too.

I really hope we get more new characters rather than re-hashes in the future.

They aren't perfect, and I would have liked maybe a little more retooling; but I own all of the Classics versions too, and they aren't perfect either. Ultimately though, there's a place for both in my collection and I'm happy they're being made instead of a bunch of 1-step Bay-verse drivel.

For $10-20 more you can get the real deal Universe/Generations figures on e-bay. I would encourage everybody to let these things shelf warm to send a message to Hasbro not to go this route again. Victorion is cool, but these repaints are a joke.

I both understand and respect where you're coming from (despite you're claim that classics mirage is 'real deal' since it looks nothing like G1 >:oP ), but I personally never cared for the over-sized chests of the classics figure's (especially sunstreaker's whose bib looks so strange and disproportionate) with the exception of the mirage mold 8-)

Despite what people say about these (myself included, as I still would have preferred some different figures :CON: ) I like the variety these offer, straying from the G1 designs that I dislike into something that I do like; And that's not to say that I don't think that not remolding the chest plates isn't lazy on hasbro's part, but I like them all well enough.

I will agree to the variety. these guys were well chosen. Some nice variety. :BOT:

From my viewpoint, Prowl might be an improvement over the Classics version (those shoulders really hinder that Classics design for me). CW Prowl doesn't look as G1 as he could, but at least he doesn't look like a robo-giraffe.

Here are my thoughts ... I normally just like to take pictures and prefer to read what all of you have to say, but I'll make an exception this time around because I'm personally so divided on these figures and it seems the generally fan community is as well.

CW Prowl > Universe Prowl
CW Sunstreaker < Universe Sunstreaker
CW Ironhide > Universe Ironhide
CW Mirage < Classics Mirage
CW Mirage (with fan mod) > Classics Mirage

CW Prowl is a great fun toy. Lots of character. I was never a fan of the Nissan mold used for Universe Prowl, Bluestreak and Smokescreen. Quite frankly, Universe Prowl is a really crappy toy. Maybe if we didn't get to the amazing toy that is Universe Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, it wouldn't have been so bad, but between the wings/doors that don't stay on ball joints when transforming the figure, the really screwed up neck, and the jacked up legs/feet, it's just not a great toy. Fantasize all you want about it, but it's not a good Transformers toy. Oddly though, the mold works much better to me for a 3rd tier character like Rapido, but not as a prominent (and dominant) character like Prowl.

CW Sunstreaker is a great toy. Unfortunately, Universe Sunstreaker will probably be the ultimate mainline non-Masterpiece Sunstreaker for at least a decade if not longer. Unless we get some main product line comparable to Masterpiece that is along the lines of Mattel's Masters of the Universe Classics line, Universe Sunstreaker won't be beat. As for the CW Sunstreaker, I really like it. Just wish his chest was different. The Breakdown mold, despite there not being a lot of choices for regular car mode Transformers in Combiner Wars, was a great choice for Sunstreaker.

CW Ironhide isn't really a great choice for Ironhide. The head sculpt is the weakest of these 4 figures and I feel like the First Aid mold sans emergency lights would have been a better choice vehicle mode wise for Ironhide. The colors are much better than the horrible Universe Ironhide toy which I can't wait to put into storage and never see again. It's an abysmal toy which makes the CW Ironhide toy better only because it's competition sucks so bad. Just sayin'.

CW Mirage is OK. I really like the slim Classics Mirage for some reason. I'm not sure why that look works so well for Mirage to me, but it did. I keep hoping one day we'll get a new Mirage figure that is more along the lines of Universe Sunstreaker with a stocky build like the Combiner Wars version. CW Mirage with the fan mod is a much better figure to me. I wish this had a little more ingenuity to it along lines of Universe Sunstreaker/Sideswipe that had been thought out from the get-go so that we could get Dragstrip and Mirage out of the same car, same toy but different robot mode setup. Regardless, the fan mod is a huge improvement of the toy to me.

As far as them combining, it's just this year's gimmick. Don't like it? Don't combine them! Take them for what they are. Don't like them? Then skip them altogether ... there are other alternatives from the past 10 years that should give you what you want. If these had been the first modern updates to these characters, I'd be really disappointed. But as alternative takes on characters that I've already got, I'm AOK with it.

As for Combiner Wars as a whole, the extremely fast pace of repaints and repaints is getting old pretty quick. I get why Hasbro has to do this, I disagree with the fast and furious pace. I'd prefer to see some more diversity in the molds before getting a 4th repaint/remold in a line that has only been out for 9 monnths or less.

I got it to work as fine as it will once I figured out that you guys were talking about having it flipped over, it's just not as sturdy as the peg side. I'll take some pics if I remember of it like that before I combine them into Ultra Prime but mine will be flipped around the other way.

As for the other figures, I'd love to see if there were some alternative ways to attach their horrible hand-foot gun to their backs as jet packs or something so that I can have the piece attached to the figure but not in their hand or awkwardly attached to their upper or lower arm.

I agree on the whole, I would have liked to have seen many more new molds (or even more extensive retooling); the very fine line the series is walking for me is: that they continue to use good molds. So no more op/mm and less a/b (despite it being a pretty cool toy, the absolutely lazy recoloring is getting to painful levels). Hot/slaught and cyclonus make such solid torsos (and vehicle, and robot modes) that I really have a hard time feeling the fatigue for them and the future uses.
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

It simply brings it closer to the back of the figure and adds a little more height to it, so as to more closely resemble streaker. But yeah, I wish they had done something like jetpacks, but none of the stunticons could've due to their design, but they have so many accessories, I just put them in a little bag that sits next to them on my desk.
