Gotta side with you there, plus another decepti-gun, probably not happening :(

Honestly I'd be happy with Vos and Tarn

We have to remember that Hasbro is a brand that makes figures NOT just for collectors, but for kids. The More than Meets the Eye comic from IDW is Violent sometimes, so don’t expect every, single character to be given a figure officially.

I never expected any comic figures to be made; there were always so many comics, I figured it would be too much for them to keep up with; that and having to inevitably sort out what is and isn't canon, and the dumb multi-verse thing >:oP

In fact, I find it weird that it is happening to some extent now; I grew up with war within, which was considered pre-g1 canon, and the only figures that came of that were the titanium ones when I figured a whole host of them could/should be made.
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

I like the fact that they are making comic toys. I love the fact that I have a Lost Light crew on my shelves right next to the comics! :BOT:

I'm glad you're happy with the shift, I was just expressing that, until recently it wasn't a 'thing' that they seemed interested in; I would be all over a 'stormbringer' Thunderwing :michaelbay:

Would you count G1 Whirl and Roadbuster toys from the comic? Because those G1 comics is where we got to know them back in the day.

Yeah, but I meant, more 2000+ where there was an explosion of tf comics that were ignored by hasbro in lieu of them creating original series' themselves (mtmte, lsotw, and various others, stormbringer and war within)

Well, the toys are usually made as a way to commemorate an old toy as well as release a new version. Like Roadbuster, Whirl, Swerve and Tailgate. All those generations toys were both simultaneously an update to a G1 toy/character and a release of a comic book character. If the DJD referenced older characters as well as being new interpretations, they would have a better chance of getting made as toys.

Roadbuster and Whirl were toy characters first and foremost, just like the other toys of the line. They didn't get any fictional comic appearances until the next year came after the year they were released.

DJD began in the MTMTE comics, so they are only like 3 years old :BOT:

Yeah, he was asking if they were original to the comics or updates of past characters. They're so far out there, I kinda figured that they were new/original.

Haha, I was just gonna mention war within, but obviously I am pretty sure you know of those toys and that series already ;) Its too bad in a way, that toyline was relegated to the titanium series. You know, I got the fallen recently and I like him a alot, he is my first titanium class toy and I am told that its all downhill from him. But in any case, I like him and have elected him to be at my nightstand for the time being (with Legends Arcee).

Yeah, I have the special graphic novels, and they had character sketches, I loved all of them. They looked so different, and I feel they would have worked so well (that trailbreaker =P~ ) And while I don't dislike the titanium series, I've handled many of them, and the quality was definitely lacking.

I meant about his character. Being on fire will always be the big trick that is epic :BOT:

Oh, that, that's cool then >:oP
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

Those hand/foot guns are pretty big. dont know how they could be lost anyway ;) :BOT:

Let me explain in a quote:
SillySpringer wrote:I'm not talking about ME losing the combiner bits, I'm talking about the Stunticons losing them in battle, and not being able to combine. Lose 1 piece, they're toast
*sigh* welcome to Seibertron.com! Where you have to quote yourself literally 3 times to get your point across. :-P

I'm lost...

In short: kids, don't lose the pieces.
Combiner limbs: don't lose your big a$$ gun in battle. that's your extra hand and foot :BOT:

dragstrip to swindle: "Aw, man, Swindle, ya gotta hook me up, I've lost my hand!"
[etc]

*sigh* no comment.

Just let me be, and you guys will like whatever I come up with regarding my CAD Menasor torso.
As long as mine works better than the Hasbro Menasor torso, then you guys will be happy right? RIGHT??? Gooooood...

Excuse me sir, that's a comment in clear violation of your previously stated "no comment".

Anyway, nobody else is talking about the fiction. This is a thread about the toys. In the fiction, we all pretty much assume that the hands and feet are generated from the character's body by micro-reconstructions that the toys are not physically capable of. Since the toys can't do that, and since storing giant hands and feet inside yourself impacts the other modes (again, see Bruticus) we allow for external handfootguns for the toys. As for your 3D art project, I'm sure it'll be cool, but don't assume we're all waiting with baited breath to see the outcome. Most users seem content with things as they are.

(Original) RiD Optimus Prime.

To be completely fair, all that core Prime had to do for his combining was spread his shoulders and raise his torso over his head. But yes, his extra parts were well-taken care of. Except his damn pistol. I've lost that thing and then found it and then lost it again several times. I think I've lost it for good this time.

As for integrated combiner parts on scramble combiners, we tried that with FOC Bruticus. The result was kind of terrible. I kind of prefer the hands and feet be separate on the real toys, even if they spawn out of nowhere in fiction. As long as they have somewhere to go and look plausible in other modes, it's good. This works especially well with the Aerialbots, since real jets are known to have underslung missiles. For the cars, I admit it's much more obnoxious, but kids don't care, and adults can put them to the side.

Those integrated parts sucked. They made those toys very hard to play with. I like the new ones so much better :BOT:

I dis-agree, I think some of the intergrated parts worked quite well (Swindle's pair of combiner hands, for one). I believe it was the overal design of the FOC Combaticons that let the figures down, not the fact that they had intergrated combiner parts. One of the biggest cluster f**ks with them was a deluxe Onslaught, when he should have been a voyager.

Liokaiser was the ultimate combiner, still is. nothing has yet surpassed it :BOT:

2 Words: Gobots Puzzler.
Don't get me wrong, Leokaiser was awesome, and the only stray part was the helmet, but the only articulation he had was a 90° elbow bend.

Stormbringer Thunderwing. Truly a scary ass character and one worthy of a large leader or larger toy :BOT:

That, is 1 leader class I would buy.

Shout out to Landcross.

I wonder if they've considered release that toy in the west - he's simple enough to be well suited to the little kiddies.

------

If we ever get back to more normal Generations again I'd not mind seeing a Voyager War Within Optimus Prime, Jetfire and The Fallen or even a Cobra Crimson Hiss Optimus Prime - I don't plan on holding my breath mind you.

I liked the Titaniums but a more substantially sized version of some of the War Within designs would be nice to see - though the 3rd parties are starting to address that sort of stuff.

I would rather they stuck to the broad Generations "CHUG" theme as a general rule Comics designs can be a little niche and it's only worth considering them for a mainline if the design stands up on it's own.

I don't mind the idea of some of the Unique Characters from comics being used - but I hope they are tactful in how they present them so they don't turn off people who dislike the comics to much if they did do that. But again Mastermind Creations seem to have got in 1st with that idea already.

I prefer that Hasbro leave a bit to the imagination though - the Combiner wars Wave 4 Bios were a bit to comic booky for my tastes for example, I found that rather distracting, and a little off-putting.

I don't think they should throw people out of their suspension of disbelief like that, if they were previously happily in a Classics/Universe frame of mind to say sorry you have to be in a Generations/IDW one now - because we say so.

Seems a bit mean to me. At least when they made Legends of Swerve or Tailgate you had the option to see them either way (due to the Earthern Alt modes).

What difference to our generation does a Combiner Wars bio make? We know who the characters are and we are likely purchasing them because of how we remember them from our youth. For everybody else, especially people new to Transformers, those bios are quite nice and provide a good foundation for play. This is especially helpful to kids whose parents may not allow them to read the comics (even those included) because of how violent they can be (kids are not IDW's target audience). We can't just assume everyone has seen G1 or reads IDW and knows the Aerialbots personalities, or those of the Ark characters being the released alongside them, etc. :???:

I like the bios. they are doing a good job of describing the current incarnations of the characters, and they make some good references (toss a table or 2) :BOT:
