At which point they would probably want to start doing the titan wars stuff. But maybe they'll continue to do them at the same time. I still say they should be releasing individual packs of groove and blastoff, they'd make a killing

Since Unite Warriors are box sets in Japan they likely wouldn't interfere with their version of Titan Wars which will most likely either be parts of the Legends line or replace it altogether. So theoretically the only thing stopping them from doing more Unite Warriors is a lack of molds.

Since Scattershot is such a bland remold I'm more likely to believe he'd be an e-Hobby exclusive.

Well, that is the rub isn't it? I would skip it then, and just get the limbs, since I could put them on anyone - I care about that more. They would look pretty nice on sky lynx though

What I'm not happy about though are the colors of Scattorshot and Betatron's head. The colors seen at Botcon were wrong and the colors seen in these new pictures (even though they look oversaturated) are even worse. Betatron's head being the exact same colors as Superion's just looks stupid on the rest of the body as well. If this was the colors shown in the artwork for Scattorshot then I'd be fine with everything but Betatron's head not being recolored to match. Hell, I think I would've liked the prototype colors with the blue wings better.

That recolored o/p didn't have a new combiner head either.

And technically, Scattershot has more retooled parts than Battle Core Optimus had.

On the other hand, it could have been worse, as well. It could have been a straight redeco with no remolding at all. No new wings, no new robot mode head, no new jet body, none of that.

I don't mind that they're using the silverbolt mode, I didn't even mind the retooled parts - I liked them - but not doing anything to the part that most clearly tells us who he is supposed to be, and will ultimately set him apart from superion, sorry, I draw the line there, better luck next time 'round hasbro

IF Hasbro released the limbs and they were substantial enough color wise and looks wise (I still like Vortex and Blastoff even if they are repaints since they look different enough paint wise) I would buy them. If I would spend the extra money for takara, I would expect more remolding and much better colors (and for sure a little remolding on the combined mode for Scattershot), similar to takara Groove-wise but spread out over the characters rather than concentrated on one character. Either way, I love the technobots and still would not mind them as a combiner using old molds, but if hasbro released them, I would buy them unless they really look bad, and if takara does it I would want more and better retooling and recoloring.

Either way, I would get one unless it equals PRiD Airachnid in quality because I love the characters

I'm just saying that people have started to expect retooling rather than the straight-up redecos that were the norm in the past. Like extra heads grow on trees. Let me tell you something: Those would be some creepy-ass trees. What was I saying?

That part, though, I'm with you on. I could have lived with them sharing a head mold if they had at least given it a new color scheme, but they didn't. And it's not even a laziness thing, it can't be. All the retooling elsewhere on the toy, and the combiner head doesn't even get a new paint job or a changed plastic color? Either this was an oversight and somehow nobody caught it, or somebody did it on purpose for whatever reason. Either way, disappointing.

Here is why I dislike Scattershot: I dont like this mold for him.

Scattershot is an amazing G1 toy, design wise. The technobots represent 80s scifi imagery at it's best. I was born in 88 (what a shock!) but I can still easily appreciate that aesthetic. As with a lot of G1 robots, his spaceship mode was a smart rearrangement of his robot mode with extra parts specific to the ship mode. Since the robot was already scifi, its body and limbs could easily be rearranged into a cool configuration (victory saber and Sky Garry are also great examples of this) for a ship. It made it so that most parts were used in both modes, making less a robot in disguise and instead a full on cybertronian using the transformation technology to it's advantage (converting from one mode to the next for flight or added speed or power, rather than as a disguise). And that means that it's NOT a robot hiding underneath a plane as is the problem for a lot of jet formers. G1 Scattershot takes this to heart by being this beefy ship with a giant F-OFF cannon in the front. And this canon even had extra playability, giving Scattershot an extra mode, for fun.

But with this toy, there is none of that, nothing that made Scattershot unique and awesome. Instead of being a ship made of his tech design cybertronian body, its just some wings and a cockpit hanging over a robot hidden underneath. It works for Silverbolt because a) he is a robot in disguise and b) the robot underneath becomes an endearing aspect for what was once limited engineering (like Grimlock's T-Rex head and open flaps).

But Scattershot is none of that. He's a chunky awesome space ship that will pulverize you! And a totally different design. What I hate even more about this is that by remolding the wings into a more techy look, they give gaps which make the robot hiding underneath even apparent from the top. I really hate this disconnect. What was a nice and fun touch for Silverbolt becomes just lazy engineering for Scattershot.



Thinking about it, the one mold that I could have seen redeco'd into scattershot would have been Energon Megatron who also has a meaty and futuristic spaceship look.

PS: Has there been a reissue of the G1 technobots?

Yeah, it doesn't even really homage the spirit of scattershot. It has the chunk required, but scattershots most recognizable aspect is the unique transformation and cross-shaped jet mode.

I dont think it has the chunk. The G1 toy has it all uniform with the nose still quite wide. With CW, its just super wide at the back and then ultra narrow. There isnt a nice gradient and it ends up being far too narrow. We need a nice meaty phallic shape. With this new scattershot, I dont think it could alert a station's sensors that it's docking. The command centre would ask "is it in yet?".

The colors on the toy we've seen doesn't even come as close to the G1's colors as that digital coloring you posted above. This figure is just sad. My after thoughts try harder than this.

Totally cool, and I wish that for you, they get released. All of Hasbro's press so far seems to indicate that they are on the backburner and will get released within 2017 and 2018, just not right away as part of combiner wars. I am sure they will get released someday but for you I wish they get released sooner than that.
