I know! And the review for Reign was weird. He praises the combiner in the beginning, then 12 seconds later is all "... ehhh... meehhh...". Do you like it or not dude? Overall a pretty negative fella.

Well SkyLynx looks pretty disappointing though. I'm definitely not planning on getting him.

I'll get Skylnx regardless. He seems to be the kind of figure that feels better in hand. Not only that but I still need a Skylinx for my collection.

This "altmode" may be a bit far fetched. That being said; I still wonder how the Sky Reign torso would look with the G2 Superion combiner limbs? I have a United Superion and a G1 Sky Lynx, but it could be love at first sight without buying a 3rd Party hands&feet set?! :-?

Just remember folks, looks are deceiving before in-hand. MP Ironhide and Bumblebee ring some bells. And even then everyone has different expectations and loves in hand. A figure widely disliked can be like by several, so anything's possible. Plus he looks very cool and he has a frikkin beast head for combined mode! And he can combine as a 4-legger! Awesome!!! :BOT:

I know people might be getting sick of Skylynx chatter, but really he's one of the more versatile torsos we've seen.

He has so many alt modes: Bird-Dino, Shuttle, Lynx, Torso, not to mention...

bird!

manticore!-

and even The Shrugging Lynx-man!

Image

Beyond his official combination he can walk on all fours like a massive dino OR lynx beast, plus if you're short on limbs... Gorillynx mode!

What's not to love? Other than the crappy camera quality... :HEADHURTS:

I appreciate all the pics. It really is awesome!

Also, here is the Emgo review of Hound. He does show about halfway through how to attach the shoulder gun. and his Swindle couldn't attach the gun on the shoulder so it may be a running change. :BOT:

Has anyone figured out why Sky Lynx's swords combine? I am looking for a purpose behind it but can't find one. I also need to take Groove and attempt to connect him to the back of Sky Reign. My guess is that the arm pegs will face outward and attach to the peg holes on the wings (which are turned to face inward). The end result will be something like a jetpack using Groove/Wreck-Gar's feet as jump jets, or maybe he can angle his feet to face forward over SR's head to look like a pair of guns.

Terrible. I could not watch these reviews. I had to skip all over his videos. He's all over the place "The worse paint aps out of the entire lot." and the very next thing he says, "Definitely surprisingly great!" Mashes Trailbreaker into truck mode and can't figure out why it doesn't work, "Apparently you have to be subtle with it". Ugh. He is WAY too generous with his scores for these crappy looking figures. 8's and 9's?!

Yeah, but that isn't what I am talking about. There is a tab that connects the swords side-by-side. I suppose it would be to have them only use one 5mm hole somewhere, but there isn't any utility beyond that. The big sword is great for combiner mode, though. I am debating on if I am going to get his limbs. I really wish they had included something other than the 3rd/4th/5th! use of the Dead End mold. ANYTHING. I would have taken Brawl as Warpath over another use of that same mold.

Thanks! I knew there had to be something I was missing. I looked for an image after I saw your post, and yup, they fit right on there to make his tail a lot less stubby. With that out of the way, now I can focus on getting Groove to integrate with him.

My Bruticus has a paint imperfection on his right eye. It makes it look like he was shot in the face. The question is, do I scrape the paint off and repaint the eyes to match, paint the eye a darker color and draw little cracks on it to look like it was damaged but he just keeps going because he is Bruticus, or repaint the eyes but draw a targeting reticle on there. Because it kinda looks cool with the asymmetry. Another option is to paint the eye yellow or green and paint a targeting reticle on it.

Well, it looks like a bullet hole in armor, which shouldn't be the case for the eye crystals. Which is why I want to repaint it, but I don't really want to just repaint it and forget the fact that he was asymmetrical.

Works for me! Though I actually have him with his G1 rifle and the right eye lined up. Shockwave is too heavy to hold out as if Bruticus is aiming him, so I have him up as if forced up by recoil (and when we are talking about Shockwave, recoil is a sure thing). I will scrap the paint off and get going on repainting tomorrow!

I will take some before and after photos. Unfortunately holding the weapon figures like there is recoil is about the only way they don't flop down. And that is lame. I have Superion's rifle and Powerglide combined and held between both arms, but Bruticus can't really do that since Shockwave is so short.

What I am suddenly reminded of is the fact I really wish there was a Legend's class figure that transforms into a melee weapon. Is it too much to ask for an axe or sword? And I still wish Groove could have worked as a riot shield. Oh well.

I have my Bruticus holding Shockwave with both hands, but it's more of a pre-aiming or casual guard stance. Definitely doesn't scream firefight.

Another way I had posed him was with Bruticus partially squat looking to the side with his left arm pointing out front where he was looking and his right back and angled down with Shockwave. Made him look like he was on a battlefield giving the order to charge the enemy.

A legends class fig that turns into a melee weapon would be amazing! Could maybe configure Chop Shop(or Skrapnel) to be some sort of claw weapon, though it would probably just look like a bug attached to a combiner's arm. Cosmos might make a decent shield if you can find a way to attach the underside of his UFO to something.
