Still too yellow. Even Swindle wouldnt work. Offroad is a now WAY expensive for some reason. Guess I'll have no choice but to wait for Trailbreaker.

If you must, you can also switch out the combiner port on G2 Dragstrip for the UW DS' gray one

Edit: There also is this custom someone did that you can buy on Ebay:

That's why I think new ideas are sometimes good. ;)

Same. As long as it doesn't drastically go against the spirit and character of the original, I'm all for updates and improvements rather than having to remain 100% loyal to the original cartoon or toyline.
I mean hell, I adore Sky Reign. I want more beautiful things like that.

Please know I'm not trying to argue here... But his original colors are so simple I don't see how you can say it's a bad color scheme. And in terms of yellow being a bad choice for a modern toy (especially with a car alt mode)... I don't see much validity in that either.

And my original post wasn't anti-new ideas, or especially improvements. I'm one who has been giving these lines a lot of credit.

If you like varied paint apps from the looks of original characters, awesome for you.
But I don't get how people feel they can say staying relatively close to the original look is awful, bad, etc.
Especially because it's not like this is the third set of updated G1-esque Sunticons in the last 8 years.

Because, well, sometimes we feel the original look is just bad.
G1 gave us a lot of fantastic, iconic designs. Optimus, Starscream, Soundwave, Grimlock. But not all of them are great and - especially when concerned with art and design - it's extremely subjective what's good or not. A pure yellow colour scheme with little detailing to settle apart just doesn't appeal to me - it's one of the problems with Armada Hot Shot for me too; just so much yellow is very boring and blotchy and unappealing. Some colours work fine on their own - again, Dead End's shiny red in UW works extremely well for me. Yellow just isn't one of those ones that works. Hence why I much prefer CW's update.

If you like staying absolutely true to the cartoon over everything else and you prefer those colour schemes, then yeah, all the power to you - I just really don't like Drag Strip's original colours.

Look... I get this is all subjective. And this is all opinion-based.
Yes, I would expect figures in these lines to be very show-accurate... 1. That's what these on toys are based on. 2. Again, this isn't the third or even second round of updated Stunticons (at least ones that combine that have had a regular retail release)... If it were, I'm betting changes from original designs would be more than welcome.
I'm not a huge fan of the color yellow. But UW version is pretty close to what Dragstrip the character looks like. So I'm okay with it.
I think I like fairly accurate colors because with these updated versions, there already are changes (sometimes major changes) from the original designs.
Almost every figure in these lines could be used as an example of this.

Actually...
1. That's not what they're based on. That's what UW is based on. Hasbro's priority is basing them on the original toys - and beyond that, they might incorporate the show; but equally they might incorporate the Marvel Comics, and even more likely than that recently the IDW comics. In particular, First Aid is very close to his IDW design, especially in his head sculpt.
2. Yes... but it's the first time updated Stunticons have actually been purposefully made as an initial purpose, and to combine. The other times were basically finding any autobot car mold and painting them into any random Stunticon. It's practically impossible to make a Mirage toy without turning it into Drag Strip at one point - which makes sense. They have to redeco a toy at one point to make up for production costs, Decepticons are the easiest way to set an Autobot apart, and Stunticons are the easiest way to turn an Autobot car into a Decepticon.

Look, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with you liking cartoon accuracy or anything; I've stated that a ton of times. I'm just saying I don't like the UW colours for Drag Strip and I much prefer the CW design. That's all. Let's just be thankful that Takara and Hasbro do very different takes on things that pleases different audiences and be happy about it, yeah?

It's also a budget question. He understandly don't want to pay too much than regular retail with taxes. That include the shipping in the total price. Also, that G2 Dragstrip is too blue. (And that "custom" ) The IDEAL replacement bot would be Offroad (why SO expensive?!), but any other Hasbro stunticon would do he said (Appart Dradstrip). So I'll be looking for the cheapest option possible.

3 reasons:

1. He's a new character.
2. He's a Hasbro exclusive. Many japanese collectors want him, increasing his price on e-bay.
3. He's one of the best molds from this line.

Also, hes the same price as everyone else once out of the card: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Hasbro-Transform ... SwgApXCKqC

What frustrate me the most about CW Offroad is I passed by him without buying so often. After no more stunticons were available at TrU and Walmart, there was still one at Archambault, a music store, hidden away in some dark corner. Still passing by it, still not buying for weeks. Then, once I finally decide to buy it, of course it was gone.

Sigh...

So sig-quoted. Also, to add to the Offroad availability and price, I did check eBay on prices, and I was surprised to see how much he cost. I don't get it. It was mentioned before that it's because he's a new character and a damn good mold, but that can't be the only reasons, can it? Personally, I never got caught up in it, for me Offroad is the Con equivalent of Alpha Bravo. Totally unnecessary and just a ploy by Hasbro to sell another toy by breaking up a traditional team. UGH.

Your friend is too picky. :-P Dragstrip is a really fun toy, and goes really well with the rest of the Stunticons in my opinion. The yellow on the Hasbro one also is not very ugly. It's less banana, and more cheese-like. Ahh whatever. Him do him, and me do me. :-P

So sig-quoted. Also, to add to the Offroad availability and price, I did check eBay on prices, and I was surprised to see how much he cost. I don't get it. It was mentioned before that it's because he's a new character and a damn good mold, but that can't be the only reasons, can it?

He's also a Hasbro exclusive character. And until grand galvatron is released, he was the only way to get that headsculplt.

There's also TFCC Ruckus

Your right but thats an even pricier option when you think about it. TFCC exclusives are even harder to acquire for non US fans than Hasbro toys. At least they sell hasbro toys in other parts of asia (plus you can buy offroad individually, no problem) but to get TFCC Ruckus you have to subscribe and then pay a hefty shipping fee from the states to wherever you live. Offroad would still be the cheapest way to get this headsculpt between having to get the subscription service, getting grand galvatron or getting him alone.

Also, new characters do go a long way to up a price. Look at the e-ba prices for AOE Scorn, for instance, those went super high last year once he was no longer available at retail.

Edit: this reminds me of when the club gave us that Megatron from Botcon 2015. Yay the Prime Breakdown mold is rereleased... as an even harder to get collectable thats just as expensive.

Hey, I'm sure this has been covered already, but have those new Brawls with the fixed waist been showing up in retail or what's the deal with those? I remember hearing there was gonna be a new production run, but then never heard anything about it since.

It wasnt necessarily a 'new' Brawl. Its just that some were shipped out first with looser waists than others. The earlier batches (like those who preordered) got some bawls with a loose waist but most Brawls found at retail since have a tight waist. Nothing's been fixed though, its still that weak and weird transformation with no tabbing, but the later ones have been tighter in that area. Any you find at retail now should be the tighter ones as was the case a few months ago when they first appeared at brick and mortar retail.

Hmm, that's disappointing. So likely G2 Brawl and CW Nosecone will still have the same issue. That sucks.

I dont know what to tell you. Its not really an issue if it works right? It is weird engineering, I give you that, but if it holds together does it really make a difference? What would you hope for if this is how it was designed to be?

I mean I guess its fine, it just felt like something was wrong when I first transformed my Brawl. I mean yah, it functions, but it just feels.... unfinished. I guess I always assumed it was a QC issue that would eventually get fixed.

Yeah, thats as good as it gets. But you know, many toys do feel unfinished and I wish it was all QC issues. Like RID Jazz. Man it really looks like Hasbro's missed some paint along that assembly line:

Hasbro's is on the left, the one on the right is Takara.

When I first saw this pic below, I swear I thought this was an unfinished product and they were just giving you an early leaked look.
