Why? They went way above and beyond for King Posiedon

Why would this ever be a thing?
Yeagh mainly a joke but I could see them having retooling for pilot compartments and a full on Diaclone crossover as it would probably fit in well wth the current Takara Diaclones. Star Convoy was super lazy so I'm not expecting full on retooling into Dinoking but if it is, it will be nice to see.

By being not evenly remotely accurate to the characters looks or having any key throw backs to the original toy (mini hot rod, tank treads, bonnetted truck, car carriers etc). The smaller figure didnt even need to transform into anything so they could have focused on the truck/trailer -the extensive retooling on the smaller figure was pretty much wasted and misguided just to show Convoy powers up to only kinda look like Star Convoy in bot mode from groin upwards. Even Star convoys chest windows are the wrong shape.

I think you misunderstood what the figure represents and what Takara Tomy was trying to achieve. It isn't really Star Convoy. It's an Optimus Prime/Convoy figure with a Star Convoy-like power up, but not actually Star Convoy. This was made clear in his accompanying comics well before his release. I have a reissue Star Convoy and I think the Selects figure did a fantastic job of capturing his bot mode. It hasn't left my desk since his release.
And no matter how you feel about the figure the work put into it was nothing short of extensive just as it has been with King Poseidon, Super Megatron, and God Neptune (who has further retooling). I don't expect anything less from Volcanicus, it just wouldn't fit their track record.

Takara wouldn't be using this head if they were doing either Dinoking or Monstructor. Takara is too traditionalist and media-faithful to do that. If they were to do either Dinoking or Monstructor, they would darn well make sure that the toy looked like how Dinoking or Monstructor is supposed to look, exposed face and all.
Yet, we can see that they are keeping the Volcanicus head with no tooling changes, so whatever it is they are doing will have a face like Volcanicus's.

Not saying it would or could be either of those, buuuut...o.supreme wrote:2. Concepts like G2 and SG are barely known in Japan and have little if any presence, they would not be going that route either.

A lot of SG fanart comes from Japanese fans.o.supreme wrote:The fact that one of the contributors of SSSS Gridman happens to be a fan of SG doesn't mean it's wildly popular in Japan, that was a deep cut that most non-TF fans would not even notice. How many SG releases did TT make before Brand Unification? I think only one that was a co-production with eHobby or something like that.

The Selects manga is in a completely different setting from the Legends manga.blackeyedprime wrote:Maybe a another relaunch of Battlebeasts and Volcanicus is the King beast with the legends comics having the battlebeasts pop up a bit/stylised titan masters. I always had Volcanicus use the Trex head, just needed a large fire/wood/water rub symbol on him. Diaclones my first guess, Battlebeasts is my zany guess.

It's probably Rotorstorm. Others have reported being charged for him while Hubcap has been purportedly pushed back to mid-September.aronjlove wrote:I got charged today for a Deluxe from Hasbro Pulse and of course, there is no easy way to tell what the charge is for.
