The Energon Starscream mold was pretty much mush by 2009 with its use for BotCon 2009 Leozack and Skyquake. That mold has long since degradated by now, 19 years later.Rtron wrote:All this talk about Armada Prime got me watching some old reviews, and I just noticed that G2 Smokescreen and Energon Starscream transform exactly the same way! And while G2 Smokescreen doesn't quite resemble any specific real life plane, Energon Starscream is quite clearly based off an F-22.
Which is also Machine Wars Megatron's alt mode! He doesn't transform the same way, as he was a flipformer, but most of his parts en up in the same place. the same applies to Machine Wars Skywarp/Thundercracker, although they transform into a different plane, a Dassault Rafale.
G2 Smokescreen, Machine Wars Megatron and Machine Wars Skywarp were repainted into Beast Wars 2 Starscream, Thrust and Dirge respectively.
The point of this ramble is that if they ever re do Energon Starscream, we could get a new G2 Smokescreen, Machine Wars Megatron and Megaplex, and Beast Wars 2 Starscream and Thrust just with redecoing and a couple of new heads. And with some alt mode remolding, we could also get Machine Wars Skywarp and Thundercracker, and Beast Wars 2 Dirge.
Come on Hasbro, it's a whooping NINE figures just by tweaking a single mode a bit. I'm sure that at least G2 Dreadwing & Smokescreen and Energon Starscream, could sell well, lol. Can't be sure about all the repaints, I'd be interested in them but they're sort of niche. But they're also cool planes with simple yet attractive decos, and probably deluxe size, depending on how big Energon Starscream should be. And you can say they're JAPANESE characters. They'd also be good fodder for "worlds collide" style packs. And Beast Wars 2 BB & Starscream have that wish fullfilment factor, since they basically use the same deco as that barely released Megatron and Starscream G2 set.
They could even do Botcon Waspinator if they wanted, since he was a repaint of Machine Wars Skywarp!

And it's not just Energon Starscream that reused G2 Smokescreen's transformation. 2010 Terradive reused it with a few extra steps, and Generations Fall of Cybertron Starscream used it too.
noctorro wrote:That Armada Optimus Prime is looking amazing.
I do hope they redo Megatron as well
Huh?noctorro wrote:Especially Overload, I love his big red blockyness and it's still one of my favorige Transformers. Turning into a big truck thing and a Star Wars fighter bomber thing.
What?noctorro wrote:Armada Jetfire is already (near) perfect, decent articulation and great alt/robot mode. But for completeness sake I hope they remake him as well for that Jet Optimus Bulldozer mode.
You may wanna watch this video. All of it:noctorro wrote:And, more speculation, I hope they do a Titan Tidalwave.
Can you guys imagine, a Titan sized Aircraft Carrier who can split into 3 airships and another giant. And somehow have him connect with a Megatron in his torso to mimic the cartoon.
No, "Shockwave" was just Tidal Wave's Japanese name. The Armada English dub was just so incompetent that it'd sometimes use characters' Japanese names instead of their English ones.noctorro wrote:They can repaint Tidalwave into Shockwave (the cartoon one was Shockwave)

One thing I have never really liked about Lio is the lion legs on the arms despite the goodness of the swords, but on this mold, they feel even more out of place. Outside of that, he feels really solid. I need to put him in lion mode, but he's pretty good. I love the headsculpt details.
The Dinobots are also pretty cute in hand. I kind adore these ugly little MoFos.

Kingdom gave us Voyager Tigatron and the Ark with a faction symbol face.

I was talking about specific time frame releases. It's funny to have 2 similarities like that in 2 different lines at the same time
