I am curious to see how he looks like without the exo armour. Will he just be a white red and blue optimus? I am really wondering how it all connects. There must be some partforming right?

The cab does not become a separate robot (unfortunately). As far as I know, there should be no partsforming.

Ok, so his similarity to Optimus' cab is simply esthetic and the cab mold itself is totally different? Because from the pics it seems that the legs are surounded by an exo armour coming from the large trailer part. Its almost as if there is a smaller robot leg pegged in.

Am I the only one to see/think this?

Also, are any of you guys going to be ordering from amazing japan, since it's at a discount for preorders

The official version is as accurate and posable as possible. Why take a third party figure that isn't as accurate and frankenstein them up? :???:

Ultra Magnus will be based off the updated MP-10 Convoy mold and will at last come with an all new fully functional trailer that will combine with the Ultra Magnus cab for the ultimate display piece!

So yes, the cab MUST transform independently and his trailer will act as an exo skeleton. I do see partforming up ahead

They need to update the description. I would not depend on a retailer for a description.

I will reiterate: the cab DOES NOT transform. The cab can SEPARATE, but can not transform into a white Optimus Prime. Please read this and you can see what I mean.

Note that the cab, while an almost exact replica of MP-10, does not share where parts split open to form the robot mode.

I agree to an extent. Although I don't remember U.M having m'oobs...very robust and heavy looking. [-(

Based off doesn't mean utilises.

When word of MP UM first came to light it was a picture of MP-10 in mocked up armour. But they've gone for cartoon accuracy where there's no white robot.

So yes, the cab IS based off MP-10, but it's a new mold that won't completely transform. I would go so far as to guess that it changes enough like the original G1 in that the legs will be formed from the cab and the armour forms around them.

That's probably as much parts forming as we'll get.

I won't be displaying him anyway without his armor.

Can anyone link me to multiple examples of a red bumper in the cartoon? As in, not one frame that was likely an animation error? Definitely wasn't red in TFTM..

And I must say again, I have a mega problem with the cab roof becoming a buttflap. That just seems so blasted lazy. Kibble on masterpiece figures is not cool. Too expensive for that crap.

Like I previously stated...certain aspects of stack (thin but tall) and MP22 G1 accurate and amazing quality. That would be an ideal U.M without m'oobs
