I would have preferred no homage than how they designed it. It sucks the way it hangs down that much. Any 3rd Party up for the challenge of making the first Transformer butt transplant? Seriously, I hope the flap is detachable because that is how I would like to display him.

Small price to pay SR. Aside from that, I sure can't wait for a colored version. This is gonna rock in December! :DANCE:

Can anyone confirm please if Magnus will come with his own Matrix?

I have a Rodimus matrix but do not have MP 10 so this is quite important for me if the Rodimus matrix would not fit in MP 22 if he does not come with his own one.

Yeah. It's too bad the way the flap has turned out. In the concept image, the flap doesn't look too bad, but it hangs too low on the prototype. Looks like there is a line on the cab roof in the alt mode. I wonder if it originally was going to fold in half.

Two things I still wonder - doe UM have a waist swivel? If not, why? Do his shoulders have any more articulation other than spin laterally?

I do like the arm transformation. Different from the original. I don't like the chunkiness of the toy though.

According to a part from the Transformers Generations 2014 Volume 1 book, it seems that Ultra Magnus was started by Hasui but then handed over to and finished by Kobayashi, since Hasui couldn't figure out how to make the toy as a white MP-10 with trailer armor work within the budget they were given to make the toy. This would explain why the cab looks a lot like the MP-10 cab but ultimately isn't just MP-10 with armor, as well as why there are some less-than-show-accurate aspects about this robot mode design since it was Hasui who's been giving us all these super show-accurate MPs since MP-10.

Aside from the need to bring the cost acceptable for such a mass release, I believe that getting UM's legs to work with a core MP-10's extremities would have make UM too stumpy or just plain stiff as in the original G1 incarnation or just bigger.

If Tomy took the FP route,their trailer part would look too short if you would compare how it turned out against the G3 trailer of henkei Convoy while in the original, both Convoy and UM had nearly identical trailer lengths.

So maybe, this is for the best.

The picture on the far right shows the shoulder angle articulation. Is the shoulder on a ball joint or hinge? Doesn't seem to angle too much though :-(

i wonder how those windows will look on the fully painted finished product. theyd have to be translucent red to blend in to the red chest piece for it to blend properly like the toon version.

its just probably using the head of the existing mold from optimus prime which will be covered by ultramagnus's face and helmet to save money and to show the face change gimmick not meant to show another smaller white robot
