I still think Primal might be my favorite.... but Megs is damned close. I do find it interesting that for the most part the old ultra toys are nearly the same figures. Wish I had an original Megatron. Something about it bugged me back in the day.... maybe it was the gimmicks?
I could go with them removing electronics all together. MP Wheeljack is a perfect figure to me, he didnt cost that much. he was double the price of a voyager toy and you got at least double the toy you'd get at that size in terms of complexity, parts, paint, everything.
And yes, they are similar to their ultra toys (megs moreso than optimus of course) and I think its because in both cases, they have 2 limbs that are the same from one mode to the next. So if you start with that and work backwards for a transformation, they cant be entirely different. I did find Optimus Primal had a lot of new tricks up his sleeve though (the back of the thighs becoming shins, the back rotating 180, the robot chest coming from the beast belly)
I think I preffer Megs simply because he is more imposing.
