Burn wrote:But I don't hate The Golden Compass (because i've never seen it). I, and many others, have expressed our disappointment that Transformers didn't win.
And those who have seen both films have expressed their belief that Transformers was a better movie visually.
They're not hating the movie, they're just of the belief that the better movie missed out.
Why therefore, should they be glad that The Golden Compass won?
Mr.Bond007 wrote:What should have happened is when the golden compass people come in to accept the award prime should come in and be like AUTOBOTS RELIEVE THEM OF THEIR OSCAR and they swing in and Jazz steps in GIMMIE THAT! that would rock.

Burn wrote:What I find odd though, I realise the Academy Awards are American based yet are pretty much used as a world gauge but a number of movies nominated each year barely get a mention in Australia.
The Bucket List was nominated wasn't it? Only opened here last week. I guess that's why I find it hard to follow the Oscars because a good chunk of the movies nominated are barely heard of over here.
Burn wrote:Why do I say this? Because they technical group had their awards last week and Transformers won there because it was judged on the work involved in producing the final CGI look, not the on the story like the Oscars are.

So I gotta agree with the judgment of Golden Compass beating out Transformers.
Plus the cgi, while in Transformers it was good, it wasn't spectacular, you couldn't really see the actual cgi robots for too long, but in Golden Compass it was always there, up close, and looking awesome.

Thanks.
Even though I don't vote for such awards I feel that I am enough of a movie buff to form an educated opinion on what is and isn't a good movie, much like a number of people who do vote for those awards.
So thank you, for pretty much labelling an every day average movie goer like myself an idiot. But you know what? I'm not offended. Because I would much rather value the opinions of random idiots because like me, they go to the movies to be enjoyed, not to sit there and analyze every frame.
