I mentioned this before, but I really want an Optimus Prime that evolves into Star Convoy and I want a Megatron that evolves into Super Megatron as part of this line. Yeah, we did just get our Star Convoy tribute from Voyager TR Optimus, but that was done so obscurely being just his colors on Laser Prime's body, it would be better to go all out. And we haven't seen a Megatron that resembles Super Megatron since Animated.

But thats at least more recent than a Megatron resembling Action Master Megatron. The last time we had that colour scheme was what, classics? And that was even more obscure than how Voyager TR optimus looked.

What sucks hard is that there is only 1 new leader per wave (and waves sometimes have no new leaders which has been the case ever since Generations Leaders began). So we have 6 waves of figures total, with a probably max of 6 leaders and we already know 4 leaders: Rodimus, Unicron Rodimus, Optimus and Primal. I too want a star sabre, bad. The reason I dont think we will see a RID Prime is because hasbro already has their big Optimus for this line and its simply a leader class g1 Prime.

The Leader Prime would make for a really cool Car Robots Ultra Magnus Retool, I think.

Was it more obscure? AM Megatron is still his gun style body so Classics Megatron is just one gun Megatron in another gun Megatron's colors, both released by Hasbro making the connection fairly obvious.

TR Voyager Optimus Prime is Laser Optimus Prime's bot and truck mode and weapons no matter how you look at it. The only reason people even noticed it was painted in homage to Star Convoy was because of the alternative head shown on the leaked paint schematic. Even knowing that there were still a lot of people who insisted it was more of an updated Laser Prime than homage to Star Convoy.

I'd consider Classics Megatron a proper updated Action Master Megatron, but I wouldn't call TR Optimus a proper update for Star Convoy, we've never gotten on of those. Unicron Trilogy Cybertron Optimus Prime had the right idea and CW Battle Core OP had the right head, but we've yet to see Hasbro and Takara Tomy go all in on a new Star Convoy.

While I prefer a Predaking that scales with the CW combiners, I'm ok with it being a Titan. Since the G1 reissue scales well with CW already, it'll be nice to get an updated Predaking at a different size.

I hope Prediking will employ connection ports that resemble the CW ones. I wonder if they would work at the same size as the CW pegs & ports? Are they strong enough?
If all the Preds are voyager size and the ports stay universal, It might be cool if they could combine with the other voyagers from the line for some strange and wonderful combos.

This idea, I REALLY like. If they can use the same ports as CW, then you can come up with some really out there combinations, like a Starscream torso with predacon legs and dinobot arms.

The main question would be on the arms, can the ratchets support a heavier bot when the are is extended out. I think so. None of my CW/UW combiners ever had trouble at the shoulder joints while trying to pose the combiner picking up another bot or combiner. It was always the elbows (arm bot's knees) that had to be carefully positioned and not bear too much weight.

I kinda feel like the Predacon limbs would be too big to work with normal CW Combiners.

Talking of sizes, if we're to assume they're all Voyager-ish; how exactly will Razorclaw as a torso work without looking ridiculously small in proportion to his limbs?

I have a feeling Razorclaw will just be bigger than the others, and I doubt the limb bots will have the double ability to be legs and arms.

And, I don't think they would work with the older CW voyagers, but maybe the PotP ones. Starscream seems to be awfully beefy compared to them.

Nah, the presence of a CW mold re-uses already (Darkwing, Blackwind, Inferno) alone shows that the new POTP combiners are supposed to be fully compatible and comparable and swap-out-able with the CW combiners. Unless Hasbro expects you to -specifically- buy the CW molds with each other, which considering their push of play patterns and their target audiences seems very unlikely.

But, I'm only talking about Prediking.

I'm saying, maybe Prediking's limbs, if they used the same conectors, could work with the new Voyagers from the line.

But I'm just daydreaming over here anyway.

If they use the CW ports and joints on Predaking, then I think this is a case where they would both work and not work with the CW/PotP combiners.

Literally and physically they should work if they use the exact same parts. At the same time Razorclaw would need to be bigger than a normal voyager, kind of like Long Haul.

Aesthetically, they wouldn't work that well as the Voyager limbs would be too large for a CW voyager torso, but that was also part of my original line of thought with this. You can mix and match and get some ridiculous combinations/proportions. Put the predacon legs on one CW combiners for an extra tall guy. Put the arms on another to give them monkey arms. Throw 4 deluxe limbs on Razorclaw for a weird deformed giant lion belly with tiny limbs. You get the idea.

Long Haul was much larger than the other Constructicons so the idea of Razorclaw being larger than the other Predacons really isn't that out there. Heck, TR Voyager heights are all over the place, just look at how small Optimus/Octane is next to Megatron/Blitzwing.

Megs is only really about half a head taller. Either way, figures within the same size class (and line) have always had some variation; but nothing as much as the size difference between Razorclaw and the other Predacons would likely need to be.

There is the idea floating around that the Cab on POTP Optimus is actually Orion Pax - so I suppose if you made the same cab a bit more Optimus Prime like then fiddled with the trailer a bit like changing the colours and adding tracks you can get something somewhat like Star Convoy out of it.

I would only see them doing another Optimus if it was released towards the end of the line in 2019 or as a remould in the follow year's 2020 Generations line.

The original Predaking components were all the same size, and proportions when all combined were not that bad. Its just that when all combined, he did not stand well as his weight (at least the all-metal version) made him way too top heavy, probably why they switched to plastic. I'm not sure if this picture below is the original, or a re-release, but you can tell its all-plastic because of how well it stands



I could see the arms using something similar to the CW interlocking system. Originally it was a square (or hexagonal?) peg, but you forced it straight in, rather than sliding from the top. The legs had a unique combining system. The Legs could be swapped for each other, as could the arms, but a leg could not be an arm, and vice-versa.

Abominus is the same size as other Scramble Combiners, so no doubt he will be also in POTP.

Nah, G1 Predaking looks really silly with that tiny torso and huge arms and legs. I never got why people said he was particularly good compared to other G1 combiners.

I kinda have a love/hate thing with the HFG's. They work nicely as guns on the vehicles. They are clever, as they can be used as both hands and feet ánd guns. But the feet are WAY too small, and the hands too big.

So I hope they'll design new hands and feet that can turn into guns, much like the perfect effect kits do, so we won't have to buy 3rd party products for em anymore. Hasbro, just steal the idea already.

So CW style combiners are set up so that the Torso Voyage is both Torso and upper legs. The easiest ways to combat the issue of a 5 voyager team having a tiny torso are:

1. Make Razorclaw bigger. Probably means similar proportions to Long Haul, which is definitely out of character for him.

2. Make Razorclaw only the Torso, and the leg bots are the upper and lower leg. This would mean they connect to Predaking at the Hip-ish area, rather than Knee-ish.

Going route number 2 means the Predaking torso can be bulkier without sacrificing the look of Razorclaw.
