I don't really care since he's going to be combined with the munky armor all the time. The 10th anniversary deluxe is going to be my pre-evolved form on the shelf.

I voted for Boss Monkey as I wanted a new figure of the Beast Wars character from the original first season. Having a Beast Wars figure that doesn't turn into the actual beast mode seems a bit... meh... to me.

But that's just my 2 cents. I'll wait for for tangible images.

i would say a primal prime repaint is very likely at some point maybe have the smaller optimus primal figure repainted as the first transmetal optimus primal

It seems to explicitly place this as the original character, rather than someone who shares a universe with other toys in the line. I guess only time will tell how fiction is going to handle his introduction (and ascent to prime-hood).

I also got Optimal within the last year, and he's been lot of fun. But I agree his munky and bot modes are the only forms that work well.

I was honestly hoping to get a good, original Optimus Primal representation with the PotP figure -- he has the bot mode down. I'm curious about his alt mode....I want to see the final product. But regardless, I'm absolutely buying him. >_<

I always regret to not have been able to get botcon 2006 set, in order to have pre-earth Primal, so the Potp version wil take this role, it's in fact a good news for me.

Power of the Primes are starting to appear in Ireland. I bought MetalHawk and Cloudburst in Ken Black in Wexford for €7 each. They also had Skullgrin along with the Leader Class Optimus and Rodimus for €53.




Sadly my local SMYTHS in Waterford had nothing new, though it is a good sign that they are starting to appear.

He says teased bit it's a shadow on one of the early pages, it's more of an easter egg then a tease as he didn't speak and wasn't seen again. Of course having checked the wiki it states they've been seen multiple times but having speaking roles is what's important, and he's had zip.

As for the toy bio, it certainly does seem to be a generic retelling of the original Beast Wars story for Optimus Primal. I don't think we're going to get anything more about him ascending to the position of "Prime" of all Cybertronians, though. The first two parts of the Prime Wars Trilogy had almost zero plot. Everything revolved around the gimmick in terms of story telling on the packages. It was rather rudimentary with Combiner Wars having fleeting references to gestalt modes, where applicable. Titans Return made it all about the various powers that Titan Masters granted the Transformers they combined with. With Power of the Primes, it's now about the combination of an individual's personality with a specific Prime's powers, and even then, we only really get that explained in randomly packed trading cards. The bios on the boxes are little more than "How will (insert name here) use the Power of the Primes?" Alas, Hasbro's invitation to "Choose the Next Prime" was likely more a publicity stunt than any true urge to add to the Transformers narrative. We voted on the toy we wanted most...and that's pretty much it. Hasbro expects us (collector and kid alike) to fill in the blanks ourselves with imagination.

Actually I think Hasbro are relying on IDW and/or Machima to tell the story but the stories will probably end up looking nothing alike.

And that's even if IDW will do anything with these Pretenders and Prime Masters. They're doing stuff with the Thirteen, yes, but not really anything with the POTP toy characters.

As for Machinima, well, expect the bare minimum of anything in the toyline from them, really, as they gave us Combiners who didn't show off the execution of their combination gimmick, and a single Titan Master who never used his head gimmick in conjunction with his assigned Titan.

I guess it will end up like Titans Return's Sentinel Prime and Sovereign. As far as my memory goes they could have just let that part out and nothing would have changed or would be missing for the ongoing story. Or did I forget something essential?
And I dont't count the Titans as representing the gimmick of the TR line

How did somebody manage to mess that up?

Normally we get the alternative head spoiled in instructions but this is new to me, that's quite a blunder.

@Lunatic Prime so yeah don't expect optimal Optimus with IDW or Machima
(Though I wouldn't another beast wars mini series but given the framework currently it won't be a spin off from the main series)
