Postby s3n3ch » Fri Jun 22, 2007 7:56 am

But big news but here in Québec (Canada) we have our own movie rating provided by the "Régie du cinéma".

The movie is rated "General" but not advised for youngchild..

What's "M" in Australia? More or less severe than PG-13?

Slightly more superior.

Just means if you're 15 & under you should ask your parents if it's okay to see it.

Interesting! Glad to hear it's open to more people there. I just wish I understood the Canadian rating system. It's not bad, but it just seems to differ from each of the ratings we've seen so far.

I think is because Canada is more « relaxed » in regards to certain things. I believe the rating system in the US says that if the F-word is used in a film, it automatically jumps to at least PG-13 (or 14A or something like that).

Whereas in Canada, we can say « sh*t » on TV and it doesn't even get bleeped out!

What applies for Quebec doesn't necessarily apply for the rest of the country.

yeah quebec are pretty linient (did i spell that right..lol) on movies....back when i was under 18, i'd often cross the bridge to see movies there because while they were R rated in ontario, in quebec they were the equivalent of AA, which meant anyone 16 or older could see them. so i'm not surprised this is lower rated too.

as for canada as a whole, as i mentioned i'm in ontario and i have to say over here we always have the same ratings as the americans. although a couple of years ago they banished our R rating and created something called 18A.....cuz you see before that in canada R meant you had to be 18 or older to get in, period....in the states R just means you need someone 18 or older with you, kids can still see R rated movies. we didnt have that but now this 18A rating is the equivalent of america's R.

i first noticed this with Freddy Vs Jason, i went to see it and saw this couple with a son who was no older than 5...i was a little shocked like "how the hell did they get in..are they in the wrong theater?" lol ...but i looked it up after and discovered our new rating system. now where the hell was that when i was under 18? so many good R movies i had to wait for video for during the 80s and early 90s...life isnt fair :P

I remember when living in Ontario the ratings for movies were still much more lenient than US ratings. I remember at one point I'd watched a movie rated 'PG13+" in the Canadian ratings system and it had full nudity in a few scenes.
