I really hope this mold gets repainted into Acid-storm, and Sun-storm. Those characters need more love.
ScottyP wrote:Wow, finding those must have been like a return to the pre-internet days! Helps that Starscream looks really cool too.
I've got to wonder who's really supervising the RiD product line these days. The toys and show (app too, unless I missed an update that Starscream isn't in it) are almost entirely off-the-rails out of sync at this point.

Considering the paint apps in this line have been a bit... ah... crap; he looks really standout from what I can see. I mean okay yeah, this is a blurry image and maybe it'll be a horror story once I actually see it, but right now he looks beautiful.

The Clash of the Transformers figures usually have good paint apps. They had a ton last year compared the the normal deluxes.

Oh cool.
... so I should probably expect a normal retail version or repaint (like skywarp or thundercracker) to go the way of Windblade?

Yes although I dont think there will be a normal retail version. The Cash of Transformers have had exclusive molds in the past. This is the first deluxe, sure, but I went in depth about their exclusive retools for the 3 step ones, the legion emgatronus was never released wide and neither was the big megatronus toy either. I am thinking this will stay as a TRU exclusive.

Perhaps, but... it is a seeker mold. Practically by law they have to make a Thundercracker, Skywarp and at least one more redeco out of it and I doubt they'd all stay TRU exclusive. Megatronus is a unique character and whose mold I can't see applying to anyone else, at least in the context of the continuity.

No other seeker.

So then did Hasbro break the law by not releasing a thundercracker and Skywarp in Prime? Nothing is set in stone. And in show continuity, Thundercracker and Skywarp do not exist, the only other seekers are Skyquake and Dreadwing.

The closest Hasbro got was that Skywarp homage in the Dark Energon series. If anything, TakaraTomy is the one pumping out those redecos, as they did with the Arms Micron series (and they released a Skywarp for Dark of the Moon, which Hasbro skipped!).
