Will, I am not stating any opinion. I am stating what I see based on careful observations of the Chromedome photos, the Dead End figure I have on hand, and the comparisons I have made between the two, in which I can definitely say that, while the two share similar aesthetics and design elements, I see no base parts that are indentically sculpted between the two figure beyond some minuscule rudimentary components (namely joints) that are shared across many figures that Hasbro/TakaraTomy have developed. This is not my opinion, but it is my observation.
But it remains
your opinion that your observation defines it as not a retool. I do not share that notion. By my definition, the fact that they
retooled every inch of that mold, thus reworking every piece of the older mold, still makes it a retool.

Why are you dictating what I should say? I believe its a retool of metroplex and thus I am free to call it exactly that. Plus...
DigitalBrave3 wrote:The Cromedome/Dead End thing is pretty stupid too. I agree with you on that, but I just personally don't think that Fortress Naximus is a retool of Metroplex. They're likely just similar figures that share a few parts. Hasbro has done that kinda thing before, I believe, so my theory is possible.
Your theory is invalidated by the notion of authorial intent. If Hasbro says its a retool, there is nothing you or anyone can say against it since they have final say, being the ones behind this toy. And this is what they said in a
Q&A session from a few months ago:
Hasbro wrote:Fortress Maximus was very challenging to work on due to its size, costing, weight and the fact that it has to work with other bases in the "Titans Return" line. It is a retool of Metroplex, but an extensive one.

Yeah, he stole the show for me as well.
Sabrblade wrote:While I agree that I think Fort Max looks better than Metroplex (and I just like Fort Max more than Metroplex in general), I kinda feel like I still like the original G1 Fort Max more than this new one, modern articulation be darned.
I am currently heavily debating what to drop my cash on, this new version or the encore
