Welp, a sufficient amount of time has now passed that I can add my late opinions to the Voyager ranking!
So far I have four TR Voyagers - Galvatron, Astrotrain, Alpha Trion, and Broadside - and I agree with some others that it's really hard to rank them because they all have such different pros and cons. However, if I had to put them in an order, it'd probably be as follows:
First place is Astrotrain, simply because he's the most consistently good of all the ones I have. Robot mode is solid and looks enough like Astrotrain, spaceship mode is a little strange but works as a sci-fi alien shuttle, and the train is not my favorite but there isn't actually anything bad about it either. Like, it may not be a great realistic representation of a recognisable train, but effort clearly went into it and it looks good for what it is.
(In fact, the way his train mode is achieved is much more creative than the arguably "better-looking" shuttle mode - transformation doesn't count for everything but you can't say the train is exactly lazy.)
Next up might be Galvatron - mask issues aside (I haven't done any modding myself because I can tolerate it, and I like my headcanon that it functions as a 'control' unit so Galvatron can basically take control of any TM he links with rather than the partner-bonding that usually occurs) he's not bad! Robot mode that's pretty much unequivocally the best official Galvatron ever, cannon mode that's practically flawless, and similarly to Astrotrain's train mode I think that the spaceship mode here is honestly not bad even if I'm not the biggest fan myself.
I must be one of the few who don't mind Megatron/Galvatron having cannons on the front of their arms (as long as the cannon is huuuge, like Galvy's here) and though mine was a little loose in its port, a single coat of the All-Purpose Silver Sharpie tightened it up nicely!
Surprising a few perhaps, I'd put Broadside third. Yes the jet mode is awful, but his robot mode is actually really stocky and powerful-looking. (As a specimen yes he's intimidating!) And though I don't find much playability in an aircraft carrier - I leave the Aerialbots off so they won't get lost, but they are a fun addition - it's a good-looking mode - probably the most "accurate" of the Voyager alt-modes we've gotten.
Despite his multitude of flaws (uuuugh stickers, that one on the chest is the actual worst thing), something about his carrier mode, and robot mode in particular, shines through and still puts him above average for me! Plus that headsculpt is gorgeous (as can be expected from this line) and works quite well with basically any body you want to match it with.
And finally, in last place but still not bad, is Alpha Trion. His robot mode is fine, but the lion is just a little too boxy and unposeable for my liking and the 'other' mode is kind of below par (especially when compared to his later counterpart's far superior execution of a similar concept).
He's by far not the worst thing ever, or even the worst of this line, and his robot mode in particular probably holds the title for best deco of any TR Voyager - or even maybe any TR toy - but he's still the least-good Voyager of the four I have from this line.
So yeah, there's my thoughts! Bit long I know, but hopefully some interesting info in there at least. I'd like to give thoughts on Megatron too, but the retailer I preordered him from (in December!) still has him listed with a March ETA and hasn't mentioned anything about it in months (aside from changing that ETA from December/January to March, in the middle of said March), so... yeah.
