Lunatic Prime wrote:william-james88 wrote:Lunatic Prime wrote:So how do we call it now?
REUSE?
Just a shared part. Like how certain CW figures have the same wheels and HFG.
Which ones do have the same wheels who are not remolds? Because then those are not shared parts.
And I just wanted to introduce something like "repaint", "remold", "retool" and so on.

I just want to point out that the correct terms are "retool" and "redeco". "Remold" and "repaint" are incorrect and misleading descriptions of the actual process, especially the word "repaint" because a redeco typically changes the plastic colors injected into the mold as well as the paint apps.

I know how it's described on http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Retool but to me there's a difference. A retool also changes the engineering of the toy and a remold just the visual appearance. But as I said just TO ME.

Why does it matter?
okay, we know that it shares engineering. And I know it's important to know where Hasbro might be squeezing an inch in on us somewhere, because it's our right as consumers to care if we're getting value for money. BUT. Why does it matter whether we call it a retool or a shared lineage? We know exactly what it *is* already, shared engineering design at the CAD stage, every part completely remoulded, addition and subtraction of important gimmicks took place. With that established as fact by John Warden, you should already know enough to think if they designers are being lazy or not, why does it matter what we dress it up as?
Is it a need to obsessively categorise things for the wiki? Are you making a pie-chart/bar-graph etc. of mold re-usage? Is it more that you're interested in the etymology of certain fandom slang words for mold reuse? I'm not being facetious, I'm genuinely interested why this is important to some people.
It's kind of just stifling other discussion in the thread right now.

Hopefully they could make Raindance out of the Buzzsaw mold if that did that.william-james88 wrote:Ok so in other news... I found a really neat idea on the TFW board. You know how TR Rewind and Frenzy/Rumble turn from media devices to tanks? Well, that's a G1 homage to Gand Slam which I am 100% certain will be an upcoming exclusive using the mold.

Though, 'twould be a shame for them to no longer combine into Slamdance.

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

You forget that we are the Transformers fandom one of us is going to find out how to shove them together...one way or another life finds a way.
We got a CW Sky Lynx Lynx mode we can do it someone is crazy enough.
Erm, Crashbash would be Squeezeplay/Cancer/Lokos.MemphisR56 wrote:Fangry/Wilder/Brisko/Crashbash

TF Wiki wrote:Another Nightbeat visual oddity is the large difference between the design of his toy's chest and of the character model's chest. While the toy's chest is an asymmetrical shape with one "boob" and a "tummy grill" not unlike Optimus Prime's, the character model gives him a concave octagon which symmetrically houses two hollow boxes. Where did this design come from, and why is it the only thing on his character model, other than the swapped head, that departs from his toy design?

The titan master figures seem to have fairly conspicuous 5mm pegs on them somewhere, almost as though they're intended to have some kind of weapon mode, It's interesting to note also, that some of them seem to be completely integrated into their altmodes in certain configurations, particularly Fangry, who's headmaster arms form the arms of his Dino mode:
Fangry/Wilder/Brisko/Crashbash
EDIT: Corrected by Sabrblade - Squeezeplay/Cancer/Lokos

already stated that they have weapon modes, just didn't show them yet unfortunately.

And Crashbash's Titanmaster's legs also form the lower jaw of the dino/dragon. So he hangs upside down in the dino mode.
MemphisR56 wrote:Oooh, I see it now! That's actually really cool.
I have a feeling I'm going to get a lot of enjoyment out of these little dudes. I just hope distribution doesn't fall utterly short.
