The comics fiction is secondary. When Hasbro makes these toys, the last thing they think about is "how will we explain this in the fiction for the fans". Instead they think "what cool looking stuff will kids want to buy". The fiction is ancillary to the point that Hasbro has clarified that not everything you see in the TR line will be explained in the fiction. They care so little, the fiction you are referring to (IDW) is licensed. If you think they made a generations toy of Scoop because they wanted to use him in the comics, you are fooling yourself.

But it'd be awesome to see something new as well. Transformers greatest gift is G1 and it's plethora of 500+ characters, which is something most franchises don't get. The fact that Hasbro hadn't caught on to doing multiple versions of the "main" Transformers roster is what gave us such a massive library of characters from which to continue to revisit. Add to that what we got out of the Beast Wars era and we're good to go for quite a while!

They made a toy of him because of his usage in the comics he was there to sell, as was the minicon team and pretty much any generation figure over the last few years. Knowing a person who actually writes for IDW Transformers titles as I do, characters can be made and used by the creators and hasbro often comes knocking due to that characters popularity. So yeah your information is off.

That makes no sense. Knowing toy production cycles, characters like Scoop, Tankor, Waspinator, Armada Starscream, and some others were in development for two years or so before they hit shelves. Then when they were on the horizon, Hasbro told IDW to include them in the comics so they'd be able to pack in a comic with the toys featuring that character. The Thrilling 30 lot of Generations deluxe toys were given a much more sudden introduction than characters such as Springer or Ultra Magnus, who were already existant and got toys based on their comic appearances.
Wait, are we talking specifically about Scoop? He got a Generations toy because designer Joe Kyde wanted a construction vehicle toy in the Starscream/Skywarp/Mini-Con Team wave. His choices were narrowed down to Scoop and Armada Scavenger, and he chose Scoop since he felt the orange would look nice with the colors of the other three, since Scavenger's green would have been redundant with the Mini-Cons being green.Prowl4 wrote:william-james88 wrote:Prowl4 wrote:Maybe you don't read the comics but the majority of generations stuff in recent years has appeared in the comics. I either want her to be a brand-new mold, or a HEAVILY retooled Gen Windblade.

Why would you want a Nautica made from Windblade? I honestly cannot see that working. She deserves her own mold.

It's the double v-tol backpack and feminine figure.
It... could work, but a new mold would work far better.

I think if we get a headmaster Arcee it may be made from the Chromedome mold because 1. It's cheaper 2. They can say it's homaging this:
And honestly I'm not sure this new Chromedome would look good in pink.
Burn wrote:Futuristic muscle car Arcee.
Given how well they've worked their retooling, it could probably work.

I wouldn't get it though.

SillySpringer wrote:Gen Arcee is just too good.I feel like unless they retool that figure, they shouldn't do a headmaster Arcee. Just sayin. I feel the same about Springer. He doesn't need a new mold.

Oh I agree. Her Generations figure was spot on, and for anyone who has a Classic/Neo G1 collection she's the perfect fit (as is Springer).
Does she need to be made a Headmaster? Well ... I just felt the whole Arcee being a Headmaster thing was a terrible idea. But hey, for those who have the Botcon Transmetal 2 Arcee she'll fit in well in the evolutionary line up. (I can see the dioramas where Daniel is murdered thus leading to Botcon Arcee hehehehe)

Haha I thought you were talking about Combiner Hunters Arcee, but then I realized it was a SDCC one.

SDCC? Did you even follow the link to the BOTCON page?

Yes, I said that I was thinking of the SDCC version instead of the Botcon one before you posted the link.
