The comics fiction is secondary. When Hasbro makes these toys, the last thing they think about is "how will we explain this in the fiction for the fans". Instead they think "what cool looking stuff will kids want to buy". The fiction is ancillary to the point that Hasbro has clarified that not everything you see in the TR line will be explained in the fiction. They care so little, the fiction you are referring to (IDW) is licensed. If you think they made a generations toy of Scoop because they wanted to use him in the comics, you are fooling yourself.

They made a toy of him because of his usage in the comics he was there to sell, as was the minicon team and pretty much any generation figure over the last few years. Knowing a person who actually writes for IDW Transformers titles as I do, characters can be made and used by the creators and hasbro often comes knocking due to that characters popularity. So yeah your information is off.
Looking to swap a takara Titan class fortress maximus head for a Hasbro US retail Titan fortress maximus head.

Would alternatively buy a Hasbro US retail fortress maximus head on its own if anyone had one for sale.

PM me.

G1 is some be-all, end-all, holy grail of tf's. :D

But it'd be awesome to see something new as well. Transformers greatest gift is G1 and it's plethora of 500+ characters, which is something most franchises don't get. The fact that Hasbro hadn't caught on to doing multiple versions of the "main" Transformers roster is what gave us such a massive library of characters from which to continue to revisit. Add to that what we got out of the Beast Wars era and we're good to go for quite a while!

Let's not forget that aside from Optimus, Megatron, Starscream and insert-yellow-kid-appeal-character-here, every series barring the comics until 2007's live action movie had a completely original roster of characters, a few incidental homages here and there notwithstanding.
I mean I don't really like them for the most part but they're still there.

That makes no sense. Knowing toy production cycles, characters like Scoop, Tankor, Waspinator, Armada Starscream, and some others were in development for two years or so before they hit shelves. Then when they were on the horizon, Hasbro told IDW to include them in the comics so they'd be able to pack in a comic with the toys featuring that character. The Thrilling 30 lot of Generations deluxe toys were given a much more sudden introduction than characters such as Springer or Ultra Magnus, who were already existant and got toys based on their comic appearances.

This ^

Rhinox is also an example of this, he appeared a little while before he appeared in one issue...probably never to be seen again unless they take beast wars cameos to another level.

If hasbro came knocking because of characters popularity, wouldn't we have a rung by now? ;-) or a nautica?

The comics are based on the toys like it's always been. I'll be surprised if galvatron becomes a titan master unless he himself becomes the titan master of a headless titan he finds (or maybe gets given...who knows)

Wait, are we talking specifically about Scoop? He got a Generations toy because designer Joe Kyde wanted a construction vehicle toy in the Starscream/Skywarp/Mini-Con Team wave. His choices were narrowed down to Scoop and Armada Scavenger, and he chose Scoop since he felt the orange would look nice with the colors of the other three, since Scavenger's green would have been redundant with the Mini-Cons being green.

Scoop had already been in the comics long before his toy came out, but had fallen by the wayside for quite a while. His getting a new toy helped to bring him back to prominence in the comics beginning with the Dark Cybertron Prelude.

It's the double v-tol backpack and feminine figure.
It... could work, but a new mold would work far better.

To use the Windblade mould for Nautica, it would have to be a super extensive retool on par with Thrilling 30 Chromia or Combiner Wars Swindle, the same general shape but with most of the parts changed. I can see it working well enough, replace the jet's nosecone with the more rounded submarine front section (this would probably lead to a massive kibble backpack, but whatever will be will be), shorten the wings so they stop just after the turbines, and you're good.

It's a bit pish that we've gotta wait til August for most of these figures to come out! especially Fort Max ;)

one wonders what on earth will be coming out up until then :-?

coz not much....retail wise....in the UK, that is.....only CW Wave 5 Deluxes(if they ever decide to appear) then....fingers crossed...CW Wave 6.....Sky Lynx/Sky Reign + the odd obligatory RID figure.

I agree. My point was, if they MUST make her from a previous mold, do it from Windblade, but otherwise a new mold should be in order. It would be nice to have a couple fembot Titan Masters/Headmasters. I also have my fingers crossed for a retool of Generations Arcee into a Headmaster Arcee. :RUBSIGN:

Futuristic muscle car Arcee.

Given how well they've worked their retooling, it could probably work.

Gen Arcee is just too good. :-P I feel like unless they retool that figure, they shouldn't do a headmaster Arcee. Just sayin. I feel the same about Springer. He doesn't need a new mold.

Oh I agree. Her Generations figure was spot on, and for anyone who has a Classic/Neo G1 collection she's the perfect fit (as is Springer).

Does she need to be made a Headmaster? Well ... I just felt the whole Arcee being a Headmaster thing was a terrible idea. But hey, for those who have the Botcon Transmetal 2 Arcee she'll fit in well in the evolutionary line up. (I can see the dioramas where Daniel is murdered thus leading to Botcon Arcee hehehehe)
