Or maybe I'll set them off to the side. I've actually come to prefer Megatron without his cannon on at all, so I set it off to the side (which I hate doing, I prefer figures to have their weapons somewhere). He really needs an Autobot symbol. Otherwise, I've warmed slightly to him.

I was talking about Primal in a general sense not about the Bio description or the modern idea of weaving in the Cybertron like planet concepts into the contemporary brand. (Something I don't object too - especially if it means they eventually use the planets that got missed out back in 2005 like the Steam Punk one).

But yes if he is (in current year) a leader of a planet of Beasts then that is an OK way to weave in other Beasts - even if it's going to make the premise seem even more like a completely unrelated 'other Universe' than it already does (which I actually encourage).

The reason I encourage it is it- recanonises the Classics toys back into being who they were all along and de-canonises the Prime wars Trilogy into it's own thing - where I think it would be way happier anyway.

If they did weave in other planets (assuming they are not still prepping a new "mature friendly" cartoon) I think you could take the premise or at least the Universe past 2018.

But if they didn't then perhaps they can basically start over from just prior to or just after Thrilling 30 if Generations (as originally conceived) Returns in some form post Prime Wars.

By then it might be time to start over (all over again) to get away from what will likely be a lot of Movie fatigue.

Right, one of my other my Walmarts restocked... with Wave 3 this time around. So from what I hear, Triggerhappy is the one to get followed by Hot Rod, and TwinfernoDoublecross is meh. I'll get pestered by my wife to get the dragon, I just know it. I fancy BreakawayGetaway more though, just because he's of Powermaster heritage.

I second this. Twinferno is fiddly or frustrating at times, but totally worth it in the end. I don't know if he's my favorite from Wave 3, but that's just because everyone else in Wave 3 is also fantastic (so he ends up 3-way-tied with Hot Rod and Triggerhappy, though Breakaway honestly isn't too far behind them).

I don't know about the others in the wave but I can say Triggerhappy has me on a TR high again after a month of feeling disappointed in the line. Such an awesome figure.

Since the "Twinferno Doth Suck" thread has come to a dead stop, I'll repost my musings on Doublecross/Twinferno again here:

So I just bought a Breakaway at Target, and I can honestly say that he's nowhere as bad as promo pictures made him look. However, there's one thing I still hate about him, and it's that they didn't paint the eyes. I don't care if it's accurate to the G1 toy, his face sucks and it makes him look like he's walking around with his eyes closed.

Definitely got love for Triggerhappy, but I'd also recommend TWINFERNO!

I wonder if Hasbro or Takara Tomy would ever consider using Triggerhappy's head for an Optimus Prime repaint, maybe as a convention or eHobby exclusive?

Triggerhappy's head could be repainted into a fairly good Optimus Prime head, but why bother when they already have several different options to chose from already that fit the "Optimus Prime" look even better, being that they were designed to be Optimus Prime from the get go?

Given the nature of how TM parts work, I imagine it'd have to be TakTom if either was to do that (unless Hasbro decided to do a Jet Prime - i.e. an Optimus that literally just turns into a jet). At that point, I do agree that Triggerhappy's head could make for a great Deluxe-sized Optimus head! Of course then there would have to be a decent Deluxe-sized Optimus body to go with it, which I don't see as very likely to happen given how many Optimii are/will be in TR already.

As an eHobby item though, hmm... I don't know if they'd be happy to swap heads around either, but assuming they would... it'd make a good pairing with TR Kup as an Orion Pax (for a double-homage to a previous eHobby product)!

To help the comparison between Triggerhappy and Optimus' heads, I set both Blowpipe and Diac's head modes to grayscale so that the colors wouldn't distract from the shapes themselves. While Blowpipe is a little more rounded than Prime's head usually seems to be, I think it really could work well for a "younger" Prime or an Orion Pax, if any company (or customizer!) chose to do so.



(I'm actually getting the urge to digibash an Orion Pax myself using this head, now that I think about it...)

If we were to get an Orion Pax eHobby homage with Kup as the redecoed body, Hasbro or Takara wouldn't settle for a repainted Triggerhappy head, not by a long shot. Orion Pax doesn't have a mouth plate, for one. For two, they already have such a Titan Master sculpted for this very job, Hi-Q/Apex from the Hasbro Titans Return Leader Class Powermaster Optimus Prime mold.

Yeah, reality gets in the way of all the fun things. I'm not a huge fan of Orion Pax's "real" face, I don't think Apex is at all a good head for a Deluxe-sized figure (the proportions are all wrong) and I just can't think of another way of doing a "younger Prime" that would fit Triggerhappy's face sculpt so well - but alas, I have to agree with you that a potential Orion Pax would almost certainly have Apex for the head.

On the other hand, I would totally love a Dion from Wheelie. I know the mold isn't super-popular due to issues with real-world execution of the design, but I guess I must have a good one because my Wheelie is a fantastic toy and I would take every opportunity to get that mold again (especially with a retooled head)!

Barrelroller would be cool too - though I don't have much attachment to either the character or the mold - and notably in favor of that being possible, Hasbro has shown themselves willing and able to produce old Legends figures without their Minicons (Cosmos) so presumably it'd work the other way around too.

Question: who is the voyager being packed alongside Broadside? Am I forgetting some new figure, or is it going to be an old figure?


On another note, watched balt's review of repugnus and shuffler, repugnus is a joke with an ugly headmaster, but shuffler is an ef'ing amazing figure with an epic weapon mode, an awesome vehicle mode, and an amazing head sculpt in both head mode and tm mode (dat mammoth helmet tho)

The trend is to take filler figures from the wave directly preceding it. It's possible that a revision could have even older figures, who knows?

Is it possible for the Voyager wave to consist entirely of Broadside? Having seen a Broadside in the wild (admittedly, just the one so it clearly wasn't the whole case) without any other figures alongside him, I had kind of assumed that it would be just Broadside without anybody else accompanying him - but I'm not sure if that's the way Voyager cases would be able to work.

Meanwhile I haven't seen any of Wave 4 at local retailers. They couldn't hit the broadside of a wave case.

From what I've seen, cases are usually never solid (as in, multiples of a single figure), except in Titan Class.

Weren't there just a slew of Voyager Galvatron only cases that hit before the holidays?
