I'm almost in complete agreement, however, I want to see their wave assortment first. Knowing collectors are going to want 3, 2 per case in a normal wave is still going to cause problems. If they are really smart, they would consider putting him in a 3 figure deluxe wave with 4 of the 8 being reflector.

You cant overestimate demand either. Or else you will end up in the same predicament we have now with trigerhappy and krok shelfwarming. Not everyone is buying 3, just like not everyone troop built sharkticons.

Don't forget, later assortments do carry earlier figures at times, so we could expect Refraktor to be shipped in more than one wave.

Or save yourself some butthurt and just wait for the JP releases and get them from amiami,hs or hlj. Just one trip to the post office. Drawback is a 6 month wait.

It was such a **** move when Hb split the clones in their TR line. WTfrack? Even the original G1 had them a 2 pack! Whoever at marketing thinking such stunts needs to get a lobotomy!

Why not just make them all easily available?

They seem to have guessed right on the sharkticons, as I've never seen them shelfwarm and haven't heard many complaints about availability either. I think they were originally 3 per case in their wave and then were repacked 2 per case in a revision wave right?

Dont know about the repack but yeah I used them as an example since it showed that Hasbro had gotten wiser with toys they knew would be troop built, and so thats another reason I think this is the best way to get them. Exclusives can sound fun, but for every happy collector who found his exclusive there are tons of unhappy ones who have no direct access. The mroe I think of it, the more I think this refractor release is proof that Hasbro is smarter than any of us give them credit.

Agreed, 100%! I don't understand how some people could be unimpressed by Siege Optimus Prime and Megatron. They are figures of beauty, and representations of these iconic characters that have been a long time coming. They're the right scale, look right, and aren't mold shares with classically unrelated characters. I remember a lot of people being tired of Bumblebee toys in Generations when the Titans Return Legends Bumblebee came out, despite it being the best Bumblebee toy we've ever gotten in Generations, in terms of scale, sculpt, and G1 likeness. My reaction is "at last," not "oh well, too little, too late."

JelZe and I weren't saying that "Refraktor" should have been a set, we were just saying that "toy colors" redecoes of them would be a good subject for a set. And that such a set would be the only practical option for doing them in toy colors.

No, I am very much on board with the way Reflector was handled here. Shut up and take my money thrice over.

They look good and I get the appeal: it's just some of us just got a Voyager Optimus and Megatron and it feels a bit too early to replace. I mean wtf am I supposed to do with the Titans Return ones? Because they're hardly terrible figure, unless you're some angry purist butthurt about headmasters and triple-changers.

Not every collector is interested in hoarding the same character. >:oP

True, but two versions of a character doesn't quite a hoard make, IMO. I'll be holding onto my Titans Return Voyager Optimus Prime and Megatron for now, since they are actually each two characters in one, given that Hasbro assigns each Titan Master it's own unique characterization. Heck, TR Optimus Prime isn't even the Optimus Prime I have on display right now. That would be Cloud Optimus Prime. The great thing about the TR versions is that they are clearly homages to other versions of Optimus and Megs. The former is the G2 Laser Optimus Prime, and you can get that version from the Chaos of Velocitron boxed set for better color (and sticker) accuracy, and for the latter, maybe trade up for the purple cammo version from Takara Tomy's Legends line as a G2 Hero Megatron, or even Archforce, if you so desire. That way, you can keep the molds and they won't be redundant in your collection.

You can do whatever you want, they aer your toys. All I know is that if you think you might be interested in a mainline toy, get it. I have only seen prices go up in the short term for generations toys. People get them, love em, and when others choose to get them too (and maybe get rid of old toys or replace them) all they are left is with an unforgiving secondary market. Speaking of which, you could get a decent price for that voyager prime and megatron right now tohelp finance the new ones ;)^

Megaplex and Diaclone Battle Convoy. Those are my suggestions. The latter works wonders as Diac is as per his name designed after a Diaclone pilot, and G2 Laser Optimus Prime was named Battle Convoy in Japan, like the original G1 Prime.

I had mentioned a Refraktor toy color box set when he was first announced. But now I have wonder how well it would have gone over if each color version with a little retooling was the sole new wave four figure in each part of the trilogy. This way they wouldn't have to worry about shelf warming and it's not like Scattershot and Novastar are hard to get at MSRP or less online.

Plus the reissue G2 Battle Convoy in Japan doubled as Beast Convoy/Optimus Primal in Beast Wars Reborn so there's another use, albeit a really random and obscure one.

Ah well, guess I'll just use the TR Optimus and Megatron as Star Convoy and Super Megatron alongside the Big Powered crew once I get that. Granted, that Megatron figure isn't as orange enough nor covered in Gundam-ey guns to really look the part.

Man I wish that design was a thing:

Would even look great in a sequel to Siege and/or as somekind of combination with a Weaponizer.

IIRC Animated Megatron took a few cue from that design, which is from the obscure Return of Convoy story. Unlike Star Convoy, this never got a toy because Japan doesn't generally do toys of bad guys. Unfortunately.

Similarly, Animated Optimus took a few cues from Star Convoy, and even got a Star Convoy-inspired redeco toy in the Activator class.

I've been asking for a Super Megatron figure for what feels like forever. If "Megatron Prime" had won the poll and didn't look like that I would have been very disappointed. I hope someday the artist(s) that worked on the poll gives us a look at the character designs used for every figure should they have won. But yeah, in a line full of Cybertronian alt modes and armored up Leaders I would have really liked to have seen Megatron and Shockwave swap scales.

You know, Hasbro totally blew it by NOT making Titans Return Megatron more of a Super Megatron homage. You can display his robot mode with the wings out AND he's got tank kibble. It's just that he has two distinct alt modes now instead of one weird amalgamation of a flying tank (speaking of which, I wonder if Super Megatron inspired Revenge of the Fallen Megatron's design?). All Hasbro really needed to do was deck out TR Megatron in some red-orange highlights, and he would have been as good or better an homage to Super Megatron as TR Voyager Optimus Prime is to Star Convoy.

It might have been a plan for something down the line or they just didn't think it would work that well. However, after seeing Big Powered, we can start hoping for a Super Megatron retool of the mold so it looks even better  Probably won't happen, but it's be cool none the less

You never know. I would have never guessed that Big Powered would be a thing for Legends-EX, but here we are. If Takara wanted to put in the effort, they could maybe remold the TR Voyager Optimus Prime chest to look even more like Star Convoy and get the deco spot on. They could even use the pre-tooled Star Convoy head that Hasbro didn't bother using. They could pair him up too with Combiner Wars Hot Rod, giving Takara a reason to use and release that tooling of the mold at last. Give TR Megatron the same retooling and repainting love, and we'd have another kick-ass set for the Legends line.
