Here's the newly revealed Hasbro's "G1" Siege Barricade, and the fan art I did that inspired it!
And yes Hasbro involved me on that (specifically on early alt mode concept art). Now it's official!

Others pointed those out as well. I think it was more forced placement than anything else. At DW Guido was forced to adapt to Pat Lee's style. After the first movie was a hit, I think he was *urged* by IDW and/or Hasbro to do movieverse redesigns. Fortunately it all worked itself out eventually (better art, but worse stories...) . Guido is at his best though when he is free to be himself. Figueroa & Guidi and have for a while been my favorite TF artists.

I may be wrong, but isn't Siege Megatron also a reference to Figuera's style? He's definitely boxy and has those treads in the back.

I look at him as another refinement on trying to get a G1-as-possible Megatron robot mode that turns into a tank instead of a gun, which many IDW designs of him are as well.

Well, I've had just about the saddest Transformers hunting experience in a long while. I had the chance to stop by Walmart for a bit this afternoon. It was one that's a bit out of the way form where I normally travel around the twin cities area, near the Mall of America. Anyway, their Transformers section of the toy aisles was completely and utterly empty. Not one single Transformer from any line, of any kind, was on the pegs or the shelf below. There was literally NOTHING for Transformers there. I asked one of the stock workers in a nearby aisle if they really were completely sold out of all Transformers toys, and she confirmed it was true. She also said she didn't know when more would be ordered. How does this happen, Walmart!? Seriously, WTF!?

Barricade has always been evil Prowl in design even the 2007 version.

Door wings, hood chest, forehead crest, back of the car as legs.

Barricade's doors form his upper arms though, his "wings" are just his side windows. Also, if by that logic any bot with those qualities can be a Prowl repaint with a new head, then they can make a toy-accurate Jazz and a modern-design Bumblebee, characters who would usually get their own molds like Barricade, from this Prowl mold with no new parts other than head sculpts and possibly accessories and you'd be okay with it, yes?

I feel you, the only Walmart I currently have access to has decided this year that they only sell Siege Deluxes now. No other size classes of Siege, no Studio Series whatsoever, JUST Siege Deluxes, and they're completely out of stock as well. Hopefully it means when they get more it'll be Wave 2?

While this hasn't happened to me recently, I have had this experience. Recently, the Walmart closest to me has been pretty bare, only Siege Micromasters, a couple of Cyberverse deluxes (or whatever they are called), and novelty stuff like those 4 point articulation statues, botbots, and other mini-bag stuff. Meanwhile Target is having great success around me in keeping items pretty well stocked. Its not always the case, but more so than not lately.

I think I irritate some employees because I always clean up the TF section, but I make it's failings obvious. Instead of spreading out say for example...8 micromasters at 2 on each pegs covering 4 pegs, I'll put all 8 on one peg, so they know how *empty* they really are.

I usually do that too when there's nothing of interest in the Transformers section for me. I clean up the pegs, put things back in the right spots, etc., hoping I give someone a better indication of what's selling and what isn't and what needs to be reordered. I've been mistaken for an employee many a time by other customers watching me clean up and arrange the shelves (and once may have been mistaken for a Hasbro rep by an employee!).

Your stretching it dude, while Barricade might share some of those features with other characters Barricade was always designed with Evil Prowl features in mind.

If Barricade was going to get his own mold it would just be like the TLK version which as it is the toy of that character makes for a good Chug Barricade.

And honestly I don't care what they do, if it's a good toy it's a good toy, this version of Barricade is still a version of Barricade that has a intended vision that it fulfills and that's fine, if one doesn't like the figure then don't pick it up and just wait for the next version.

Some people want a Barricade that's a repaint of Prowl going by all the customs and posts I've seen where people wish for such a figure, hell that Club figure is just a straight repaint of TFP Prowl with no new head sculpt.

I don't think I have ever had a problem with any repaint unless the repaint looked actually bad, like one of those eye seering paints and even then that's only if it's not a G2 homage.

I'm gonna check if I can head swap the TLK Barricade toy head and see if it fits on this Barricade when it comes out but if it doesn't then that's fine to me.

I wish there had at least been some BotBots there, but there was literally NOTHING from any Transformers line, subline, or spinoff on their pegs and shelves. If I were Hasbro, I'd be furious about that.

Eh, I believe that I'm most likely over-exaggerating, I'm just annoyed that both of the Barricades this year are apparently rubbish when I was really looking forward to finally getting my hands on a good version of the character.

With the Wave 2 Siege voyagers showing up at retail and a review of Soundwave out, it was only a matter of time before we got a video review of Starscream, the new seeker mold that may just spawn a Tetrajet army.

This Starscream review comes from Grim Trigger on Youtube, and it features a good look at the new Starscream. Of note here is that the new seeker mold is pretty much a backpack-former, with most of the robot hidden inside the main tetrajet body. Starscream himself is also coated in battle damage paint details, which is both an excellent thing and a time consuming cleanup process, depending on your view of the battle damage deco.

Thundercracker is Wave 3 with Springer, Skywarp is an exclusive. Red Wing is rumored for the Selects range.

We just got the best version ever of the character last year with MPM Barricade. Thats why I really dont care at this point. We've been given the elixir of the gods, everything else by comparison will taste like piss.

There's obviously no way of telling but I can only imagine that if this Barricade toy was made as exclusive as that previous Barricade toy, we wouldnt be having any of this discussion. Instead it would only be "oh ****, how do I secure a preorder!!!". Or hell, if Hasbro was as lazy as everyone says they are and simply rereleased the club barricade people would be overjoyed at the idea of obtaining something deemed to have a higher value.

But instead we get an actual siege barricade that is available to everyone at a low price and now everyone can have a say. Yay? Who would have thought that the price for forgoing elitism was more whining?
