shortround wrote:I have to aim this question a skowl since he seems to be the secons junky. What makes the orignal secons that these are based off so amazing. Also what is the difference between them and the beast wars figures not that I own either one just wondering. Because this may finally be the reason I join the collecters club.
Alot of it (for me anyway) is just a strong emotional connection and personal taste. They were among my first Transformers as a child. I've always loved toys based on aquatic things, like fish or boats or whatever. The Seacon team was great, each mold was amazing by the day's standards. The sculpting detail on the beast modes are great. It was fun how the alt modes were very monstrous versions of real-life aquatic animals, and the robots all looked cool - not like other combiner teams who had a few weird looking bots (Aerialbots come to mind... boy, those robots looked sickly). When the Seacons combined, they made a wicked robot with loads of firepower, more than any other combiner. The colour scheme (though many find it weird) was different, but fit the aquatic nature of the set perfectly. Piranacon's colours meshed together well, not some of the other combiners, he was well-balanced and just plain fun. All the members had great profiles, and I just fell in love with the group, they've always been my favourites.
The Beast Wars versions were great as well. I still like the original colours the best since it was the one I grew up with, but man, those BW2 repaints are beautiful, and may very well be one of the best repaints in TF history - the whole "fossil" look was such a brilliant idea, I still can't believe how beautiful this set looks. Shame Nautilator (or any of the gun accessories) didn't make the set.
But now, we finally have a chance to own the whole set over again, in a brand new "coral reef"-esque colour scheme. It's darker, the black, purple, and greyish-blue are very "decepticon" - with the orange for contrast, the set really comes alive. You could almost imagine the orange and yellow parts glowing underwater. I think the best part of this set, is how it will look next to the other two.
When the Universe line first came out, my first thought was "wow, it would be so great if the repainted the Seacons, they were my favourite... I mean, come on, they've already done Bruticus like a thousand times". Then when they were finally announced, I was so happy, I love the colours, then it just turned into a waiting game... wait... and wait... and wait... while all the other fans got all the seekers they asked for... an Ultra-Magnus here, another one there... oh look, another Rodimus toy.... Here's Prowl again, I haven't seen him for 15 minutes... while I waited and waited for the only real set I ever wanted. The one that would make me feel the most like a kid again.
I always said one thing about the set:
I don't care about the price, just make the set available, it'll make me really feel like a kid again... and you can't put a price on that.

The lack of thought that goes into some responses is shameful.
Feel free to get angry at any of this. Just realize that if you're one of the people getting angry, you're probably one of the people this applies best to.
(Quote from Getterdragun) "Seriously, I've had enough whining in this thread. It's either an Exclusive or it will never have been released. Before this announcment, these would have went for almost $1000 on e-bay, so I consider this a big savings. Next post about how Hasbro sucks and who tries to pollute this thread with that nonsense will receive a warning."
Man, I must seriously agree with both of you. This news has just been announced with absolutely no specific details. We don't know the final price or even the final colors for that matter. And yet there is a horrid amount of complaing. I'm not a member of the TCC but I will sure as hell be joining now. I think the Seacon set boils down to the same situation as the Games of Deception set. With no retailer taking on this exclusive it most likely will not go to retail. The collector's club may be the only avenue to get it released for collectors to buy. And this collector will be buying it. I never had the Seacons as a kid and this would be my possibly only chance to own them. Everyone else can cry, complain and moan all they want. I am glad this set will be available at all. I will be doing the same thing I did for the Botcon set. I will be putting up the money for them no matter what they decide on for the price. Period. I'd rather have shelled out the money and have the set then to pass on them and not have them at all.

I would like to point out saying that someone doesn't like this news or the seacons as exclusives is a fair response given the discussion. It is unfair to punish people simply because you don't agree with them.
The fact is i am sure many people like myself would have rather seen other exclusives brought to light rather than some shabby old G1 repaints.
Some of you like it, great for you, whoopie! It doesn't mean we all have to, or that we have to shut up about it. One post saying you aren't happy is fine, I haven't seen anyone going on and on about it post after post after post.
Be a little more open to people disagreeing, there's nothing wrong with it, and no one has been rude in the thread.

I joined the club so I could get Astrotrain and the membership is pretty much useless. I might as well use it for something else though and pick these up, if only to sell on ebay.

Is there someone on the board that is a Collector's Club Member that lives anywhere near Cumberland, MD or Somerset/Johnstown, PA that would be willing to purchase this for me if I fork over the cash when it's released?

Kudos Hasbro and TCC. My only concern is the amount of stock they'll have. If they sell out like they did with Nemesis Prime, I'm screwed! They should reserve 1 for each current member. That way it's fair and those who are faithful to the club are guaranteed a set.
