Echoes of the Past Tournament-- Discussion Thread

Alright, we'll use this thread to stategize for the tournie that's going to start this weekend. The GD tournie thread can be found here if you desire it.

We really need to win this one. This is a good vs evil battle (e.g., 'Bots/Maxis vs 'Cons/Preds), but the Maximals numbers count for very little, so for the most part it'll be up to us. Play smart, play fair, play hard.

On that note, I want to share a post Evolution Prime made about that in the AWC forum:

Evolution Prime wrote:Well I may be in some battles over the weekend, but will be able to hit it hard after Sunday evening. All I ask you guys is to be smart about entering tournament missions. Try and let the higher end fill the mission up. If it ends up that we are going to be outnumbered, then go ahead and throw your strongest bot into the mission to ensure we have enough 'Bots in the mission. Even if you are used as a "meat shield" your effort will be appreciated if we end up winning the mission. This should only be used if the mission only has less than a couple minutes remaining and there is a possibility of not filling. Next I ask for you not to "level bully" in order to dominate some of the lower mission. I know we have minimum levels based upon XP now as well, but it is still possible to go down a level or two to create an unfair advantage. I dont want to see level with like 5 million XP while they could be a good level 5. I want to see fair configurations. I don't want to hear that any AWC or Autobot for that matter being level bully. If you want to see an example of this, look for The Collector. All of his 'Cons are set up like this. I want to win this tournament fair without complaining from the rest of the subgroups that we were "cheating" and we won that way. I have been there before and didn't care for it. Most of all I want us to have fun. Give the 'Cons and Preds (and the Maxis at times too)some smack talk. Let them know we are there. Just don't go overboard with it.

Take what he says to heart. Tell all your friends, get them involved, increase participation. It'll really help us in the end.

One more thing about the configuations. I know that all configuations are technically legal, but some more than others are more or less over ampers and such and are frequently looked down upon. It is up to you how you configure your troops. I am not trying to tell you how you should do it. I am merely putting it out there I would be greatly disappointed to see any of you guys stoop to doing this. Another reason is I want it to be know that I am not asking you guys to do this either. Op and I got accused of ordering the configurations, among other things, in the Dark Tiding Tournament, none of it which were true. I do not want to go through that again.

The main thing I want to get across is to show the rest of the HMW community that the Autobots are still out there and still a strong force to be dealt with. We have been silent for too long. Lets get out there and show them that we still exist.

Like Tif said this isnt the AWC vs RDD, its Good vs Evil. If us " The Good " are to win this it will take everyone's help, every Bot and every Maximal!

Indeed. Faction comes first, above all. Do what you can to help the whole team, not just yourself.

Just checked the score. We're down 75-52. We need to step it up, Autobots!

...Course, it probably would help if any eligible missions showed up more often :BANG_HEAD:

WE spotted them a lead but we can get back in this. Granted, th tournament was started when the most 'Cons were active so we were already at a disadvantage. We have the guys to get back into this. Just play smart. Have one over every level you have ready to get into missions. We need to get into mission as fast as possible because I know the 'Cons will get in there fast as well. We need to even the mission numbers up else they will slaughter us. Getting in there fast will prevent us from getting outnumbered and backup coming to help us out. I suggest that when the mission are severely outnumbered with little time remaining for back up to arrive, that you do not enter in it to prevent the 'Cons from getting more kills. They will already have won the mission if we were severely outnumbered. It would be of no use to throw some of your top guys in there when they would be in the CR Chamber for an hour and prevent you from helping out elsewhere.

I ask you guys to play smart and get into the "0" missions and we can get back into this. Most of all, have fun at this.

We have a bit of a disturming trend here as of late. We are winning the Pred missions but losing a vast majoiry against the Decepticons. We need to get our numbers up in the 'Con tournament missions. We gladly jump and out number the 1 or 2 Preds in their missions but then will leave your fellow Autobot outnumbered 2-1 or 3-1 in the Decepticon missions. Granted, the Preds that are in the missions are of the higher level, but we need to get our guys into the 'Con missions as well. There is no reason that we can not fill those up as well. Save one or two of your guys to get into tourney missions so we can fill them up. That way we have at least half a chance of winning the mission.

Well, Autobots. We lost another one. Pretty soundly this time, too. I guess the only thing we can do now is lick our wounds, try to figure out what we did wrong or what we could've done and figure out how to fix it.

Ya know, just once I'd like to be a winner around this place. Not just myself, but the entire faction. Just once, is that too much to ask for?

I dunno, I'm feeling sick right now, I'm going to bed...hopefully things will be better all around soon.

Shake it off dude , its the same old story , they out number us in the higher levels. It is getting better though we are slowly making ground in that department. Just keep building your teams stronger and keep the communication lines open. When it comes to tournys the Cons orginize very well, something as a faction we all need to improve.

Everything will be fine. The 'Cons are a more active group and have the better communication as well. It didn't help that HMW being down lately drove off the more active Autobots. We just have to work on getting better organized and get communications back up the way used to have it.

Maybe next time have someone or a team os someone's on the lookout for the missions that are eligible and which ones can use the back-up and post them. I know there were a couple of us posting missions that we could actively see and needed back-up in but what about the ones we weren't posting about?

One of our other big problems is that Iacon is kind of a ghost town. Not that we have very many bots posting in the HMW GD, but we have even fewer it seems posting here.

MSN is another great option. I know I have mine as an option in my profile but I'm not sure everyone does. Maybe a thread posting the various MSN addies and people's levels for people so we can get on and yell at people for back-up. That might help as well.

Getting into the habit of having a reliable back-up service now would only strengthen us come tourney time.

I'm behind what most of you have said. I'm with Dragonslayer though, just once I'd like to come out on top.

I wish I could have MSN at work but I think EP and I are in the same boat with that.

I'm posting when I get chance, but I've got a lot of work to do at the moment. After I've handed my dissertation in on the 29th, I'll be posting a lot more than present. That's one reason why I didn't participate in the tournament, I just don't have time to check mission logs and post kills.

I am, however, keeping an eye on the discussions
