Dang, this thread is big. :shock: Not as big as some others, but there sure are some long posts...

I'm a little confused as to how I'm going to join this thing, assuming it's still active (I'm still new to the HMW forums...the game itself I know some mechanics of, just not the forums)...I guess I just post here, say "I'm ready", and that's it?

I'd like my team to have some action. They are, after all, a bunch of oil-thirsty lunatics. :lol: 'sides, they're weak right now and need to throttle some XP out of some poor pathetic 'bots and Maxies. :twisted:

So...am I in, or am I out?

Not quite, its not running yet.

This is just a trial run of a game that, if it works, will be starting up in a few weeks and everyone that plays the missons will be involved at some level.

Check out the Darkmount forum to find out what we're up to as a faction.

Right now it's inactive but sometime in the next couple of days it will start up again, entering in to this thing is just a casr of putting you're team into the right missions; every mission has a number, when this thing starts, Psych and EP will call out a set of numbers (for example 2 & 5) then all missions ending in any of those numbers count(so mission#2235 would count from the example above, but mission#2236 wouldn't)

this is really just a test run of this Campaigne structure(that's right people i think this has moved on from being a tournie to being a fully fledged campaign event!)

Over already huh? Well it was a fun and successful test IMO, looking forward to the real one. Nice to see that the bots put up a decent fight this time around too, hope the trend continues, as I dislike walkovers.

How about the campaign being :BOT:, :MAX:, AND :PRED: vs. :CON:?

The current theory for involving the beasties is that if the maximals or predacons are the deciding factor in a battle the they would get to control the next move.

i.e. If the scores ended up:
:CON: 45%
:BOT: 45%
:MAX: 6%
:PRED: 4%
Then the maximals will have tipped the balance in good's favour and will gain control, allowing them to dictate the next attack.

Im not, however, opposed to the idea of :CON: vs 3 factions at all, I like the idea of a challenge.
But ill let the rest of the factions decide...

Would be interesting if we had the allies system in placer where each faction decides their own alliances but i'd have to go with Good vs Evil and max/bots vs cons/preds otherwise

Indeed.
with the semi-death of V2 we've lost what could have been an intresting aspect of the game; Diplomacy.
Though you'd think it'd still be feasable to create 'diplomatic' forums where the faction leaders could talk to each other and work out deals/alliances Image
As it stands the only way faction leaders would be able to do that is if they went off-site... and we know how that ends :roll:

As far as this campaign goes... though I'm sure the :BOT: / :MAX: 's could use the help, I'm voting the Preds stick w/ the Cons.

I'm in favour of keeping it Maxi/bots Vs Pred/cons.

I've brought up the idea with Psych already and I'll copy my idea here.
When the battle result is decided by the beast faction, that's who owns the zone fought over and who gets to choose the next one to attack.

To clarify I'll give and example:
Bots: 47%
Cons: 45%
Pred: 6%
Maxi: 2%
Whith these hypothetica results the cons/preds would win (with a total of 51%) AND because the victory would not have been possible without the preds, it's they NOT the decepticons who'd control that zone.

This way it's possible for the beast factions to capture territory of their own despite the numerical imbalence.

Bots: 45%
Cons: 46%
Pred: 9%
Maxi: 0%
With these results, again the cons/preds would win but because the victoy was achieved by the cons score alone, in this case the zone would belong to the cons.

This enters another level of competition into the game, this time between the allied factions who while fighting on the same side, also will be competing with each other for the spoils of victory.

Personally, I am not a fan of that idea. The 'Cons or 'Bots do most of the work and then come the Preds and Maxis with their small percentage of wins but they get the territory because they "turned the tide." I don't think so. Either share in victory or share in defeat. Both sided factions share the territory. Not until the Preds and Maxis have their numbers and missions set up where they are equally as viable as the Autbots or Decepticons, then they have to share with their respected sides. If the Preds and Maxis want to strike out on their own for their own territories, I would be fine with that.

It would be nice to strike out on our own, but it would just be silly at this point. Neither faction has the numbers to put up a good show of it.

As things stand now, I figured the Preds/Maxis could gain territory by getting the Cons/Bots to agree before an area is to be invaded that it would be 'ruled' by the beast faction...

Gamewise it's just a way of making it more fun, and gives the beast factions an added incentive to compete.
As you say the bots and cons will do the bulk of the fighting but in the cases I suggest the victory wouldn't be achieve without the beast faction. Also while the preds and maxis may be smallin number it doesn't mean that they do less work individually as players, so I say they deserve a share.
If you want a in-universe reason for it, I'm sure something could be written about it being part of the alliance treaties.
You're not worried about the maxis stealing some of the bot's glory are you EP? ;)

The problem I have with the maxi/pred win is that you can turn it on it's head and say "The maxi/preds would have been totaly owned if their larger ally wasn't there to do the bulk of the work."

This may not get us beasties much territory but...

In the kit I gave Psych there are Pie chartz to show how well the each faction did against the other (Bots v Cons, Bots v Preds, Cons v Maxis, Maxis v Preds) you could say that if the beastie factions win percentages are higher than their Mech brothers, not just the number of wins, then the Beastie faction can lay claim to the sector.

Like I said, The beasties still may not get many sectors this way but it seems to be fairer than just going by the count percentages
