1. i'd like to be able to discuss weapons across the factions; i don't want to be restricted to just advising the decepticon players, and every person who does the weapons for the game will need to know what their called so that if something needs to be fixed they don't end up JUST fixing one faction's weapon
I would assume that OS or the mods would be smart enough to make a cheat sheet incase something needed to be fixed. As for learning about the weapons, well, we have a GD forum, and people can ask questions, and generally they get answered. So, if you're really that hard up to know, you could ask.
2. Mkall's already had an ear bashing from me regarding the problems with the alt modes
I don't blame you for part of it. But at the same time, I understand why each faction gets their own alt modes. To make them unique. I'd rather the factions were all unique and different then they where all clones of each other. After all, isn't the clones one of the main complaints about the game? After weapon balancing and "I want [insert name]'s alt mode active."
3. why not? if someone has written a maximal that uses an ion rifle why should the game NEVER allow them to get it, the more choice the better, sure limit it but if the maximals take over a territory that has an ion rifle as a resource why do they have to take the maximal equivalent name
At no point did I suggest this shouldn't be a possibility, but I should clarify. I ment starting. But if weapons are going to be a resource in a terratory, doesn't that justify factions having access to different weapons to start with?
seiriously why should we destroy 75% of our character variety? why have 1 weapon called the ion rifle, Particle projection cannon, taser, and tesler coil? why not have ALL 4 as different weapons and make them sector dependant so you can get all 4 if you want BUT you need to acheive some serious **** in the game.
And how many characters in this game don't use the same 10 weapons and same 3 configurations in this game already? From character to character, there's a lot of cloning, never mind player to player. A majority of the game right now isn't about variety, it's about cloning. And, yeah, a lot of people write backgrounds for their characters, but how many of them have the set ups true to the background? How many go "Hey, I kinda like the idea of using this gun for the character, but the gun sucks arse in game, but I'm going to use it anyway." Not a lot. If that was the case, Battleblades and Kremzeek wouldn't be sold out, and you and others wouldn't have busted butt to figure out the damage percentage and recharge time and everything else on every single gun in the game to find out what's best.
Besides, people come up with stats for the characters, yet how many characters actually have those specific stats as well? Some might not have enough XP, others might have more then enough. In the end, everyone will end up with all 10 stats, using the best weapon(s) available. Because that's how you win.
Yeah, I'm taking a simplified view, but that's because if you sit back and look, and try not to over think something, there is a simple solution to everything in life.
