I agree the movie didn't explain that well at all, either way, "stasis lock" is a fancy way of saying dead. The fallen elder decepticon instantly felt that Optimus was killed and so he descended back to the Earth to destroy it. If Optimus was on something like "standby mode" the movie didn't portray that and the fallen probably wouldn't have returned to Earth. For both Optimus and Megatron, it took something powerful, like the All Spark or Matrix to resurrect them...and if you need to be resurrected, your probably dead.

As for what happened to it, it was likely destroyed when Prime blasted the Harvester.

That's a lot of speculation. Now we're saying that the Matrix can leave an essence without having it? Well, if it is destroyed, hopefully the essence lasts long enough for an attack from someone like Unicron.

The Prime's decide if you are worthy or not. They very blatantly said this to Sam. So the Fallen could not take the Matrix anyway, as who deemed if he was worthy.
The matrix was powerless dust until the Prime's decided Sam had had enough faith and worthiness, as well as an unselfish goal, so they deemed he was worthy of the ability to possess it's power, especially for the goal he intended...to help an descendant of the Primes defeat the Fallen Prime.
And isn't this all about speculation? One might also suspect that the Fallen could take the matrix because he was a Prime, but that's not explained, nor is it explained if a Prime can take it from a Prime, or if the Prime who last had it, has to decide if the successor is worthy, similar to G1's 80's Animated movie, where Optimus decided to give it to Magnus, but Magnus could not use it's power because he was not the worthy successor. Eventually, the Prime's/whoever in the matrix found the worthy one in Hot Rod.
In this case, the 3 remaining Prime's possessed it, and decided Sam/Optimus were worthy of the succession.
I mean, who really knows, I'm grasping here. Maybe the matrix is gone, destroyed when Prime destroyed the sun harvester. That's probably what Bay intended us to see, since there real is no higher thinking extrapolation involved with this movie.

I'm starting to think, why even hide the Matrix in the first place and why sacrifice yourself hiding it? It's not like anyone can use it anyway. Apparently the Matrix has a mind of it's own and chooses who the power should belong to.
Heh like Primes just have suicidal tendencies haha. I mean did really take four of you to hide it. Not like it was big. It was definitely excessive, especially since they were only ones who could stop the Fallen.

Optimus never had the Matrix in his chest in either movie until the part of the second movie when Sam shoved it in him to revive him (but then The Fallen stole it back, so this Optimus Prime has held the Matrix in his chest for the shortest time out of all the other Optimus Primes).Bouncy X wrote:what about the first movie? when Prime opens his chest a little when talking about the spark inside him, we see what totally looks like the animated version of the Matrix. but now this movie makes it a totally different thing...what a tease.
