To be honest, when I suggested this, it was about their horrible vehicle modes. But robot modes are okay too.

I hear you, and I guess we got a bit carried away. Although ridiculous robot modes could be its own topic. Energon Perceptor is really ridiculous and so is that other cycle robot above, but then again so are all the throttlebots and several minibots from G1.

But alt modes is fine and we could stick to it. For the crazy lazy cybertronian ones like the Fallen, I already have an article that will please you, coming out within a month's time. But those are more lazy and indistinguishable than ridiculous.

When I think ridiculous for transformers toys, I think of what I wouldnt beleive exists out there.

Like when I first saw Beast Wars Neo Moon, I just couldnt believe it was an actual Beast Wars figure. I cant believe they made a transformer that turns from a jet carrier into an actual Jet (WHAT?!), and I can't believe someone thought about making a transformer that could turn into a triceratops that could be posed as dead with blood and bone exposed. And Gaia Unicron transforming into his own head that is also a spaceship is just plain nuts.

Is there any transformers out there that you just couldnt wrap your head around in terms of their existence? I need one more at least.

EDIT: Remembered RHA's post, and Heinlad is definitely ridiculous. I think we have our list

Not sure if Gigatron's hand mode should replace any of these.

Oh no denying there are some stinkers out there for robot modes, I just was figuring the worst/most unrealistic alternate modes.

Looks like we had a bit of difficulty on that. I thought of G1 Broadside and couldnt come up with anything better after that. RHA brought up some great ones like Gigatron's hand mode (totally going in there along with a few other of his modes in one entry) and Heinlad. How about you, which alt modes do you find utterly ridiculous?

The one that keeps popping into my head...coz I had him as a kid is Perceptor's "tank" mode...which ended up looking like a micscope that was folded up for storage...hated that mode.

I looked into it and that Llama (who's actually a horse) was never released. May make for another great list of best unreleased TFS or TFs we wish did get released, but I cant use him for this.

The flying wolf is pretty good though. It's not indistinguishable, its just nonsensical, especially the way it looks, and thats exactly what this list calls for.

Ok, so here is what I have for transformers with the most ridiculous alt modes:

SixShot (for winged wolf)
Gigatron (for boat, elephant, and hand mode)
BWN Heinlad
BWN Moon
G1 Braodside

Although not sure if I should replace the winged wolf with the dead triceratops. I actually think the flying wolf mode is badass.

Back to democracy:

Who should be at the number 5 spotfor most ridiculous alt mode: Sixshot's winged wolf or Guiledart's Dead Triceratops?

Whoever gets the most votes gets number 5, and the other ends up in honorary mentions.

Or does either Abominus' Blot or Rippersnapper beat any of these?

I vote for sixshot. Blot's troll mode is pretty ridiculous and I would say his ridiculousness is more attributable to 80s toy engineering than anything... His current 3rd party version is pretty sweet. I do think a wolf headed "jet" is more ridiculous. Especially since the 3p hexatron is not much better aethstetic wise...but still a really cool update.

Funny thing, I am currently doing another "democratic" list for worst transformers toys, the kind we see as garbage. There is some overlap between the threads but we ended up with very different lists in the end.

However, I was going to propose Armada nightbeat as a garbage transformer (since that's where he belongs) only torealize I had included him all along since one of the top pics is Armada Sideswipe. WOW, I didnt know these two came together since I have always refused to get that Sideswipe mold. It's like double garbage. Just wanted to say that even though nightbeat isnt getting his due here, he will elsehwere

I would agree, very interested to know the details on these choices and why kickback was not included. I think the Cybertron Megatron's modes for him are ridiculous, but I grew up with him as a gun... so a the only vehicle that makes sense is a tank or something tank like.

Kup's cybertronian chevy El Camino was kinda cool to me...

Chromedome always reminded me of cybertronian chevy Vega hatch back...

No one gonna mention Skylinx? I mean, think of a reason behind him splitting into 2 animals. While his combined mode can fly, and he has a jet mode.

Omega Supreme. Just everything about him.

Beast Wars Galvatron. He turns into a Dragon, and a golden spiked dong.
