I have avoided 3rd party MP figures, but I think this one will be my exception. I'd love Takara to prove me wrong and drop Megs V2 on us, but until I have a pre-order for that, Apollyon will stay on my purchase list.

I'm waiting to see how the QC turns out. I'm just not in love with this design for some reason, so finding an excuse to not immediately pull the trigger is pretty easy.

It does look awesome, but I have some reservations based on Not-Wheelie and Not-Turbo I received recently. There are just enough minor things that keep me from investing in something this large and expensive, especially if Takara has one on the way...

I had a few QC issues with loose joints, a little flash, and poor design around the knees that I had to fix. So, actually as I think about it, this is about par with my MP Megs and Rodimus, eh? O_o

I'm a bit bummed the grip is oversized. I'm also not entirely convinced about his legs in bot mode. I'd like them to be a little tiny bit more slender and longer. The pistol grip calves i'd like to see done a bit differently, More of the grip closer to the ground incorporating the foot instead of the foot sticking out the bottom like MP Megs feet did. More like a Classics megs foot. The only thing stopping me from going gaga over this figure is everything below the knee.

Of course it's too late now and it does look good regardless of my nit picking.


I'm also bonkers for anything G1 Megs. So i'm sure i'll be getting this release.

Caution: Please do not point light scope directly at eyes.


On a more useful note, Ace's Toy Store is listing this product to arrive on 1/31/15. Let's hope there are no further delays.

takara specifically shows him side by side with MP10. how does this effect your position towards apollyon? personally, this makes me consider taking the apollyon plunge.

leader megatron (hasbros or takaras) can in no way fill the role of an MP. and i feel this is hastaks way or saying "hey! fill the role of MP megs with this guy, cause we aint making a megs V2!". this may be incredibly pessimistic, but its just the feeling i get. thus, now im considering apollyon.

ive already read a post of someone saying the opposite of me, that theyre glad they passed on apollyon now that they see leader megs in newer lights. where do you fall?

That's an interesting take on that picture, but Apollyon will be on my MP shelf and this new Leader Megs will be on the Classics shelf in my collection. I don't think the appearance of Apollyon has much of an effect on Takara, we've known this figure would be Leader class since last August. But if anyone seems to take this opportunity to keep it all official, more power to them.

indeed more power to them. not letting leader megs into my MP display is obviously my own hang-up. my entire view of leader megs (in relation to MP's) hasnt skewed my opinion of the figure itself. i actually like it a lot, and think its a phenomenal take on the character. i indefinitely plan yo buy him, whichever version looks best. and that says a lot since i dont plan to use him as a replacement for my united megatron in my C/G display.

Like both X-T Megatron and Generations leader Megatron toys for different reasons and I'll be buying both of them.

View Generations 30th Leader Megatron toy as a CHUG toy. Don't feel the need to pretend it's a MP styled G-1 toy. Won't be putting this toy on my HasTak MP TF shelf.

Think X-T Megatron was created for the intent of it being put into HasTak MP TF toy collections and shelves. Plan to buy and put X-T MP Megatron on my shelf alongside various HasTak MP TF toys.

That white box covers up his legs. I bet you if it wasn't there he would look even worse next to Prime.

If he doesn't look too bad I might bite as a MP replacement. The gun mode never enticed me too much. He would need to look believe able next to MP Soundwave/Starscream though....

Really wanting to pre order this right now , the writen review was positive and man do I need some mp cons .

Thing is, official MP Megatron is bound to happen, we just don't know when. It might be this year, it might be next year, or maybe even in two years.
If you like this and don't want to wait, get it, you'll still be able to resell it should an official one come and you like that one better than this.

Thats just it who knows when Takara are going to bring out any of these 3rdp mp its a gamble.

Thats what makes me almost want to only collect official but again when will some of these character be made if at all in my life time haha , thats why we enjoy 3rdp , its just a shame Takara have just started and there sooo many gaps to fill .

The reason 3rdp classics is so fun to collect is that all the main characters had been done and its a case of being able to fill those gaps with confidence that even if hasbro did another it most likley wont be as good but with official mp there as good as its going to get so the the 3rdp figure has to be the perfect stand in and apollyon fits that bill for me .

Thinking if a 3rd party created height boots for Generations Leader Megatron. This would make G L Megatron closer in height to MP-10. Perhaps the height boots can form some type of weapon that attaches to the tank mode.

That's the whole reason I started to exclusively collect Masterpiece, that way I won't feel compelled and go crazy buying everything. The fact Takara's only releasing like 3-4 new MPs a year (not counting dumb repaints) means I only have to get 3-4 figures.
Back when I collected Classics, I went crazy trying to get all the official figures, plus the 3rd party accessories and the 3rd Party figures that filled spots HasTak didn't.
