Skybound’s Transformers comic is officially the best comic on the shelves now, outselling all or most other comics every month. Basically, everyone loves it, which is why this news may come as a blow to some. The writer (and artist for earlier issues), Daniel Warren Johnson, has told fans that he will be ending his run after 24 issues. This was said though an AMA on
Reddit. That still gives us a whole year of DWJ goodness.
I’m having a blast writing it now and Jorge [Corona] and Mike [Spicer] are absolutely slaying the art. I am going to be writing for a total of 24 issues.
We’re keeping it strictly g1.
Mike [Spicer] is a wonderful, stand up guy. He’s incredible to work with and I haven’t even touched on his coloring abilities!!!!
I’ve said it before but it still holds true today! The 1986 animated movie is the thing that still captivates me EVERY TIME I SEE IT. AGHHHH MY FOOT

The Skybound comic is currently beloved by many fans and critics. So much so that it won the most prestigious awards at the Esiner’s, the Best Continuing series (equivalent of Best Picture at the Oscars) and Best Writer/Artist. And when it comes to fans, well, comic shops have such great demand for it that in the latest sales charts, for the month of May, the 8th issue of the series outsold every single comic published by DC that month. And yes, that includes Batman, which is DC’s best selling comic/character.
It was not number 1, that goes to DOOM (because NO ONE CAN ESCAPE DOOM) but it was top 5. The rest of the top 5 was Spider-man and X-Men books, and DC’s best selling book was Batman in 7th place.
Below is the Top 10
1. Doom (one shot)
2. Ultimate Spider-man 5
3. Amazing Spider-man 49
4. Transformers 8
5. Ultimate X-Men 3
6. Amazing Spider-man 50
7. Batman 147
8. Hellverine 1
9. Wolverine 49
10. Spider Gwen: Ghost Spider 1

It's been a while since we've gotten a Transformers sale from Target and it comes at great time! As of late
Target.com hasn't had a great selection of figures, but this time their 15% off all Transformers sale comes when several highly sought after figures are actually in stock and available to ship. This also includes many of the latest figures in the Transformers: One movie line. Of course the sale is available online and in store so if your local store has some interesting things in stock this is the time to get it.
Here are some highlights
Masterpiece Movie Brawl $140.24 (was $164.99)
Transformers Legacy United 4-Pack $67.99 (was $79.99)
Transformers Legacy United Magmatron $76.49 (was $89.99)
Studio Series 86 Bumbelbee $21.24 (was $24.99)
TF X TMNT Party Wallop $42.49 (was $49.99)
Target Optimus Prime and Bullseye $50.99 (was $59.99)
Studio Series 86 Ratchet and Brawn 2-pack $50.99 (was $59.99)
Again, there's actually a lot more stuff available online and in stores so take a look and also let us know what you picked up good in the Seibertron Energon Pub forums!

Nobody knew this was coming, but it might be at a Target near you. Completely announced by Target or Hasbro there have been multiple sightings now of Power of the Primes Evolution Optimus Prime from 2018. The figure and packaging appear to be unchanged and a straight reissue with no obvious changes to the figure or the package. It's a surprise to say the least in a year that's already heavily saturated with Prime figures.
Pictures come from Reddit users _LigerZer0_, Clear-Bench-4202, and most impressively RooptorRed who found 11 of them in a display. And you can let us know if you find them in stores by posting in the Seibertron Energon Pub forums.

Back at the Shizuoka Hobby Show a few months ago the Transformers figure that seemed to get the most attention was Takara Tomy's new transforming Adamas Machina AMT-01 Rodimus based on Flame Toys' design from the Kuro Kara Kuri line (which itself is built up from his design from the IDW comics) under their new T-Spark banner. Despite being a high end figure based on an official third party design it's proving to be rather affordable. Early speculation placed the figure over $300 considering the figure it's based on sold for over $400 (but also came with a bunch of extra "Rodimus Prime" parts and working lights), but as a first party figure AMT-01 is available for
as low as $153 USD and could go lower if/when Amazon Japan starts taking orders placing it within the same range as Masterpiece.
As mentioned previously, this figure is fully transformable as well as heavily detailed, meticulously painted, well articulated and armed to the teeth. Whether or not this will all add up to an actual fun figure to play with is yet to be seen but it'll at least look good in both modes on a shelf. He includes two guns that can be combined into a rifle, a buzzsaw and a communicator which wasn't part of the Flame Toys figure. The figure stands roughly the same size as the Flame Toys release, about 9 inches to the wing tips. He'll be released in February 2025 which is already pretty stacked for Transformers releases.
And don't forget, AMT-02 is going to be Predaking. Let's see if they can keep that one under $1,000USD.
Will you be picking up an IDW, by way of Flame Toys, by way of Takara Tomy, AMT-01 Rodimus or is the price still a little too rich for you? Let us know in the Seibertron Energon Pub forums!
