Don Murphy announced, in his usual Sunday update on
his message board, that a Casting Director and Director of Photography have been hired for the movie. This is what Don had to say:
"A Casting Director and Director of Photography have been hired. I'll let you know who once their deals are done. Suffice it to say, this is a GREAT thing. Even though, for some reason, we don't have the full green light, hiring people makes it clear that the green is a'coming."

Hasbro has been busy the last few days releasing press releases. First Activision announced they would be making a Transformers game for the upcoming movie, and now Hasbro has issued a press release regarding their deal with Activision. The press release confirms that Activision will indeed be creating a new game for the movie. This is the first time Hasbro has confirmed the deal officially. Here is some of what the article had to say:
"Hasbro Properties Group, the intellectual property development arm of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS) and Activision, Inc, (NASDAQ: ATVI), a leading publisher of interactive entertainment software products, announced today a license that grants Activision the global rights, excluding Japan, to develop console, handheld and PC games based on Hasbro's renowned TRANSFORMERS brand. The first game will be tied to the much-anticipated July 4, 2007 movie release of the live action TRANSFORMERS film from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures."

Don Murphy's has posted this message in reference to Peter Cullen and Frank Welker returning to thier roles as Optimus Prime and Megatron in the forthcoming Transformers Movie:
I should tell you all that the Cullen/Welker thing is far from a done deal. I spoke to some Dreamworks execs last week long distance and they really think the old voices link our new movie to old things. I disagree. I know you do too. It will be Michael Bay's decision. When I prepare my report to him about this very subject I will let you know. I believe this is the ONLY thing the fanbase is in agreement with. And before reporting this as news, like a lame site like Cinescape might do, be advised- NO DECISION HAS BEEN MADE YET about the voice actors, EITHER WAY.

The Movie Reporter at
www.iesb.com has
video-interviewed Don Murphy, one of the main producers of the up coming Transformers Live Action Movie. This resulted in two video clips that can be viewed
here and
here.
In the clips, Don Murphy talks about the progress of the movie, why he started his
board, the fans and other projects he has been working on.
"The goal became 'Is there something that the fans want to have more than anything?'. And I set up a message board, which is now rabid and huge and crazy. But the whole idea of it was; 'Hey! What do you like?'. Because there is so much that is in the mythology".
"Is there anything the fans really, really want? And the interesting thing was... No! Because for every character there were 20 people that said 'yes', and there were 20 people that said 'Are you crazy? You got to get somebody else!'. The only consensus I have been able to glean, from wading through thousands and hunderds of thousands of posts on this board is that they want Cullen and Welker. So my point of view; They should get Cullen and Welker!"
"If you saw something like that [the fake SideSwipe movieclip that was found on the internet recently]
, that is so highly finished, but yet also looked a little bit 'cartoony'. What I liked about it was that people reacted to it in such a positive way! That it is like 'Okay! Cool! Because we are going to be so much better than that!'"

Don Murphy has once again graced his
board with an update regarding the Transformers movie. The following has been taken from his
post.
Michael and Ian toured Toronto- not sure.
They toured Boston- probably a no.
The feeling was Boston seemed SMALL for what we wanted
They worked on the budget- the lower number is within
reach.
Michael, Roberto and Alex continue to make the third act grow and prosper.
Dreamworks and Paramount continue to merge and mesh and figure out how it all works.
No voice actors yet. Ian gets it. Tom gets it now, at least for Cullen and Welker. The other producer who I seldom mention resists.
We are approaching the gate- while the film COULD, you understand, still not happen, it is looking very very good that it will.
until someone says ACTION any movie can crash
It happened last September on COOL BREEZE
We learned that there was false footage leaked by an enterprising dude or dudette, which only excited the fan base more.
We learned that there was no Secret Blog unless it maybe existed.
We learned that 2006 was just beginning and bodes well I hope for you all...stay with us, won't you?

UK Based Computer Games site
MCV UK reports that gaming giant
Activision has gained the rights to produce the computer game to the 2007 Dreamworks Live Action movie of The Transformers!
“Activision picked up the rights to Transformers last year and has already set a top US studio to work on the project,” a source close to its development revealed to MCV.
The article also states that they tried to contact Activision for a comment, but a spokesperson for the US publisher stated:
“Activision does not comment on matters of rumour and speculation”.

Don Murphy has given us another quick update on the progress of the live action movie on the
board of his
site. The following has been taken directly from his
post.
"Oh yeah, you want TF news.
- the film is location scouting in Canada, the American Southwest, and Northeast. Not in Vancouver (for that tool who insisted we were). No I am not going to tell you where we are scouting. It won't matter until locations are locked.
- design preliminaries are going full steam ahead at last. No, there's nothing to show you yet.
- the latest redraft proceeds apace. Many changes to the second half I believe. Scaling back the number on each side probably back to the original 5 or 6 after they increased in number. Should have something this week or early next.
People are back in town and TF is a priority for myself, for Tommy D and for Hasbro and Dreamworks.
Spread the word and stay tuned!!!!"
