As we previously reported Transformers: Age of Extinction has moved on to China for continued filming. According to Chinese media outlets one of the filming sites will be the Wulong Karst National Geology Park in Chongqing. The next bit of information could be considered spoilerish, so if you aren't interested in such stop reading now.
According to director Michael Bay this will be the location of a heroic turning point scene, which takes place after the fall of Hong Kong. A group of Transformers will meet up with another group Transformers where they battle their way out of a crater (Wulong Karst is known for it's sink holes) that was apparently created by a crashed starship. After the Wulong Karst battle they return to Hong Kong.
Here's a few images from the filming in Wulong Karst from Bay's website:
The South China Morning Post newspaper posted an interview with film director Michael Bay about his filming experience in Hong Kong, including the recently reported accidents and protests on set. He claims that there was a lot of embarrassment, especially on behalf of the local crew and extras, that he would love to return to Hong Kong soon for more shooting. Bay and the filming crew are moving away from the area, headed for Wulong in Chongqing and on the Great Wall in Beijing. You can read the whole interview, which includes two videos, here.
Two alleged blackmail attempts – including an attack by a man wielding something that just night have been a Decepticon – and an explosion scene at government headquarters that almost clashed with mass protests over the awarding of television licences.
Experiences like these helped make up an eventful 10 days for Hollywood director Michael Bay who has just finished filming the Hong Kong sequences for the latest Transformers movie, Age of Extinction.
But Bay said overall it was a pleasant experience and he plans to return for at least one film or possibly more.
That's a wrap! The principal photography for Transformers: Age of Extinction has been completed. Earlier today Nicola Peltz posted the image mirrored below to her Instagram account with the message:

YouTube user lászlo vén has uploaded a short video clip from the Transformers: Age of Extinction filming currently underway in Hong Kong that features a series of strange sounds that some are now speculating as roar(s) from the Dinobots. In the clip we see the Pagani Huayra and Argosy Freightliner parked on the side of the street as a group of civilians are frightened by some off screen action. The sounds include the familiar movie franchise transformation sound intermixed with the potential roars. Check out the clip embedded below.
Our friends over at the Planet Iacon facebook page seem to have gotten a hold of some early renders of Optimus Prime as he will appear in the next live action film, Transformers: Age of Extinction. As you can see in the images mirrored below, these designs fall in line with what we've already seen in toy form. The last image in series features who we assume are Grimlock in his alt mode and Bumblebee in his new robot mode. Check em out below!
Michael Bay has posted a message on his official website regarding the recently reported altercation during the Transformers: Age of Extinction Hong Kong filming. He confirms the incident did take place, but states not all the details that are circulating are accurate. See his statement below:
Michael Bay wrote:Hi, it’s Michael.
Yes, the story is being passed around is not all true! Yes, some drugged up guys were being belligerent asses to my crew for hours in the morning of our first shoot day in Hong Kong. One guy rolled metal carts into some of my actors trying to shake us down for thousands of dollars to not play his loud music or hit us with bricks.
Every vendor where we shot got paid a fair price for our inconvenience, but he wanted four times that amount. I personally told this man and his friends to forget it we were not going to let him extort us. He didn’t like that answer. So an hour later he came by my crew as we were shooting, carrying a long air conditioner unit. He walked right up to me and tried to smack my face, but I ducked threw the air unit on the floor and pushed him away. That’s when the security jumped on him. But it took seven big guys to subdue him. It was like a Zombie in Brad Pitt’s movie World War Z—he lifted seven guys up and tried to bite them. He actually bit into one of the guards Nike shoe, insane. Thank god it was an Air Max, the bubble popped, but the toe was saved.
Then it took fifteen Hong Kong cops in riot gear to deal with these punks. In all, four guys were arrested for assaulting the officers.
After that, we had a great day shooting here in Hong Kong.
Thanks to an article on Sharp Daily, a Hong Kong newspaper, we can report the news that the filming crew for Transformers 4 currently shooting in the city has been attacked by three local men. Also involved in the fight were three policemen and director Michael Bay himself, though injuries do not appear to have been reported as severe for any of the parties involved. The reason behind the attack seems to be a miscommunication or a missed payment: the crew had paid a fee to the people renting out or owning the premises being used for filming, but the three men involved claimed they had received none of the money, and headed towards the set to protest.
