While we had a pretty good idea of what a dying Ratchet would look like, we now have a look at dying Brawn. We also see how they will be packaged. While this is still a Target exclusive, Target is no longer using the Buzzworthy packaging and just releasing figures within the packaging linked to their own lines.

For those looking forward to Swoop, Prime vs Prime put up a review of the toy this past week and you can see it below.

His voice sounded fine in some of his older videos, but his newer videos feel like they rely a little on being too over-energetic. I also find it amusing when he says stuff like "one of the best renditions of X character" if they don't have any other toys.

Yeah, it's the over energetic bit that I'm not to fond of. Makes it feels inauthentic. But maybe he is just legitimately excited. I know I talk fast when I get excited about something.

Personally, I can never see the original Ark crew die enough horrible deaths. Here's hoping we also get the corpses of Windcharger, Wheeljack, and some casualties only documented in the storyboards and early script drafts!

I am interested to see if Brawn has some additional damage molded into the backside of his left shoulder, or if the package art is an exaggeration.

Swoop looks like he might he the best of the bunch after Grimlock. If he ever gets a red version, I'm getting him.

Even though I'm biased because Snarl is my favorite, from what I've seen of Swoop in photos and video reviews, here's my objective ranking of those 5:

1st- Grimlock
2nd- Snarl
3rd- Swoop
4th- Sludge (once his hip joints were fixed)
5th- Slag

I cannot wait to get Swoop... Hopefully Amazon delivers much sooner than September 2nd.
Assuming I really like him as much as I think I will, these are all fantastic, and based on my personal likings, I could see the rankings being:

1st- Snarl and Swoop
2- Grimlock
3- Sludge and Slag

Even though I love Decepticon characters, of all of the mainline figures I have in my collection, these Dinobots may be the highlight.
And as I've mentioned multiple times in various posts in the past, sure, they all have an issue or two... And yet, for me they're still incredibly good. After being so let down by the PotP versions, I wasn't sure ones as good as these SS86 figures would ever happen.

I hope I enjoy Swoop in hand, he is probably my 2nd favorite character on the team. Odds are in his favor at least, since the odd number Dinobot releases are the ones I love and the even number releases are the ones that have been very disappointing

Just watched the toysareruss review of SS86 damaged Brawn, and once again, for me it's just another confirmation that these figures look better with gray faces rather than metallic. The sheer/reflectiveness of metallic paint emphasizes the high points of a sculpt too much. I do understand that the cartoon did try and create an impression of shiny metal with the cell shading, but that was almost never seen on characters' faces.
Also, I know it's really subtle, but I do think the other colors (like the slightly lighter green) of this new version are better than the original.

Aerialbots are set to be in the successor line to Legacy. They weren't in TFTM (as they didn't yet exist when production of the movie first began), so they wouldn't be in SS86.

Assuming that Superion will be similar to Menasor, with a cartoon-styled build made from 4x £25 Deluxes and a £100-ish Commander (somehow) - has anything been seen of him so far other than the names/codes above?

Looks like they managed to re-secure the names Fireflight & Sky Dive (with a space) and reinstated Slingshot rather than Alpha Bravo.

I never did complete my CW Superion...

I’ve seen enough within the last week to where I wanted to share a few thoughts…

This new Springer is good, and I’m glad I’ve preordered him. However, even with those extras, I don’t think this is worthy of being a leader class figure. I would’ve been good with the sword and blaster…. The rest could have gone towards adding to the lower legs, and possibly evening making the torso even more screen accurate. As always, a converting figure is going to require compromising the appearance to some degree. This will be the Springer, and I’m not sure it’s earning a “definitive version” label.

The new Bumblebee is also good, and now I’d say it’s not so far above and better than the NF version as I initially thought. Mainly because of the alt mode. But those big feet aren’t exactly great either. I get the reason why it happened, but I’m not a huge fan of the black windows. Like Springer, this is a definite buy for me, no question. But considering the mehhh alt mode, I’m not sure this should have been in SS86. This could have easily been a Legacy release. Since I haven’t had a good Bee figure in my collection since the Classics version, I am excited about this figure.

I’m feeling slightly blahh with TF in general right now…. I know getting Swoop will help, as well as the CC Optimus. Then next year, between the Constructicons, Galvatron, Megatron, and possibly the Aerialbots, my interest will be re-ignited.

No, because it's too early for next year's product to be leaked. The listings we got for next year came unusually far ahead of normal leakage.

I wish Hasbro upgraded the aerialbot limbs to voyager size so they can scale with the Seekers. If that makes Silverbolt a commander (like Motormaster, and appropriate size for a Concorde) so be it. I'll pay for it.

I have a feeling Silverbolt may indeed be a Commander Class…
Although this is assuming Hastak is really trying to “upgrade” this Superion compared to the CW version. If not, then Silverbolt could be leader class, possibly a voyager.

It will be interesting to see how this is handled (as well as Devastator); does Hastak feel any pressure to improve these figures, or are they thinking the vast majority of people will be happy to buy these just because the CW versions will be ten years old? Unless there’s somehow some crazy flaw(s) with the Constructicons, I’m confident I’ll be getting those.
But with these Aerialbots, until I know there’s a pretty significant improvement with Superion, I’m definitely on the fence; I’m pretty happy with my UW version (that includes a couple upgrade kits).
I mean, we’re looking at this set being no less than $140 if Silverbolt is voyager class, and closer to $200 if he ends up being CC. Either way, that’s a small chunk of money I’d be happy to save or spend on something else if this new Superion is meh.
For me, the new SS86 Megatron and even Galvatron are higher collection priorities.

Don't count on the Arealbots limbs to be voyagers. The original G1 libs were all the same size, no matter who they were. But one thing is sure, Silverbolt WILL be a Commander because, like for Motormaster, all the combining bits will be with him. How big Silverbolt will be in bot mode and jet mode, and how the combining bits will integrate, I don't know. Maybe Silverbolt will be a voyager sized bot accompanied with a "base" made out of the combining bots, and everything will combine to make the giant-ass Concorde?

We will see.

Besides, they already established Deluxe jets with Needlenose and Windblade and their repaints, Hasbro is just going to willfully ignore alt mode scale here.

And we know Silverbolt will be the Commander for next year simply because we know the entire lineup for 2025 except for the CC and Silverbolt isn't listed. Likewise the last two Constructicons will likely be the SS86 CC for next year for the same reason. Which, when you think about it, it's a little strange that we're getting two CCs next year that are part of a larger set rather than stand alone figures.

Both the SS86 Constructicons and Legacy Aerialbots are being released next year...

I know a few people thought maybe Hook and Long Haul could end up being a Commander class release; 2 voyagers= $70, pack-in's/accessories= $20.

However, Silverbolt could end up being CC as well...

Doesn't it seem like a stretch for both of these to happen in the same year? I guess there hasn't been word on when Hook, Long Haul, or Silverbolt will be released yet. I could see Silverbolt being 3rd or 4th quarter next year, and then Hook and Long Haul being 1st quarter of 2026. Then Devastator would be completed during the 40th anniversary year of the movie.

I know they're not. The listing has them at deluxe. I'm really resisting getting a 3P set, but I doubt Hasbro will consider alt mode scale any time soon.

The last time Hasbro tried to stick to vehicle mode scale over robot mode scale, the fandom grew outraged over Combiner Wars Groove being a Legends Class motorcycle instead of a Deluxe Class motorcycle, and Combiner Wars Blast Off being a fighter jet instead of a shrunken space shuttle.

Altmode scale is something we must forget. Because as a trade-of, the bot scale will be out of whack.

Best example is Starscream would be a freaking commander who would tower over a voyager Optimus Prime. As in Seige Jetfire vs Seige Optimus.

As for poor G1 Megatron, he would be a scientific achievement to make. And that's only if his gun mode is Transformers scale, not human scale.

If you are considering Alt mode scale as a Voyager class for jet, then you have no idea of what scale is.

Being voyager sized does not mean they'd be in scale with anything.

For a voyager sized jet to be in scale, anything else would need to be tiny. Deluxe cars would need be under core class.

When you say things like that, its clear its not scale what is important, its merely size.

You want larger Aerialbots that's fine. That does not mean they will be to scale with anything at all. They'll just be larger than Deluxe Aerilabots.

You want a jet that scales with a deluxe vehicle, it would need to be Commander class, and depending on the actual model of jet, might even need to be a Titan.

Voyager Jets are not really to scale anymore than Deluxe jets are.

I know how you feel. In my head the planes should all be (roughly) the same size, especially since one of the Areialbots is an F15. And the Stunticons should scale with the Autobot cars.

But the combined modes should be the same height. Combiners make me want to take a pickaxe to my own head sometimes.

If it helps I know the old Uranos combiner scales with the current Seekers in alt mode. I have one and I compared the two in hand ages ago. Of course the combined mode is way taller than the other combiners ... them's the brakes. Maybe he's super cheap now that he's super out of date?

I decided not to get the new combiners. Not even Menasor. In my mind the CW ones are one, big, set and I'm just sorta ... done with buying those guys.

Yeah, I was hoping we might get Seeker repaints of that mold, but we only got a ghost Starscream to go with Grand Galvatron, no Skywarp or Thundercracker, which I thought was a no-brainer.

I know with voyager-sized Aerialbots Superion might be Titan-sized, but I wouldn't mind that. But I understand the combiners have to adhere to official Hasbro size guidelines.

Yeah I'm looking into options, thanks for the suggestion. I gotta get Tidal Wave in first, then I want to get a good look at the SS86 Constructicons next. I thought Titan Devastator scales well with the SS86 Dinobots, so I'll see if the new Constructicons will be an improvement or not.

I know, right? I mean the Classics Seeker mold scales well in alt. mode, but if you have that Starscream head and you're gonna do everybody as a combiner anyway then I dunno why they didn't go for it. We have Primes SS as a torso, Thundercracker, Skywarp, and the Coneheads all as limbs. Practically designs itself!

And no Sweep as a limb either? We get a Cyclonus/Galvatron combo with no Sweep limbs? What?

But, erm, to bring it back to Studio 86, Devestator is the ONLY new combiner I'm into getting. I have the Takara Titan one, but ... eh. It's eh. I didn't get Siege OS because he's too big IMO (I know, I'm nuts - he's the best titan). I have Herc and Giant as my Devestators, but Hasbro and Takara have really outdone themselves on engineering. Unlike the other combiners Devy isn't really part of that CW "set", so I'd be down for a new one.

A combiner with voyager sized limbs would not be a "titan". At least, size wise. That is, unless the torso component is Supreme Class (Think Armada Unicron.)

Hey, what a coincidinks, see my custom! Link in the sig I have as I post this. ;)

CW Devastator and POTP Predaking had Voyager sized limbs and they were both Titans.

Meanwhile we have our MPG Trainbots that are basically the size of average Voyagers that combine to a normal CW sized bot thanks to lots of kibble.

"Titans" were their official classification, but all of these limbs could have been sold as "deluxes" for their simplicity and hollowness.

I stated I would like the Aerialbot limbs to be in scale with the Seekers. Not everything else as well.

Sorry for sounding condescending. It was not my intent. Just trying to explain why Aerialbots to scale are not feasible.

But again, being to scale even with the Seekers is not realistic.

The only one that would be the same size as a seeker would be Air Raid. Everybody else would be completely different sizes since they are different airplane models.

In that case, Silverbolt would have to be massive to keep that scale. 4 times the length of any Seeker.

And the differing sizes of the Aerilabots would mean a very lopsided Superion.

Scale is a very tricky thing.

Except for their size and shape preventing any of them from fitting inside Deluxe class packaging.

The packaging is pretty much irrelevant.
Especially when the figure is too big to fit, they simply disassemble some parts that you have to put back together. They do this often.

I'm pretty sure if one were to completely disassemble one of those Predacons, it still would not fit in a deluxe box. Looking at Predaking, its near same height as Omega Supreme.

Fair enough. Your post also caught me on a bad day so perhaps my response was a bit harsh. However, I do understand real life vehicle scaling, and that's not what I was trying to get at. Maybe I should have been clearer.

I simply want the Aerialbots to be the same size as the Seekers. Why can this not be done? I also wanted the new Needlenose and subsequent Windsweeper to be voyagers as well, but they're not as high profile as the Aerialbots, so it's more palatable.
ut again, being to scale even with the Seekers is not realistic.

Yes, I understand this. I wasn't asking for Transformers to suddenly adhere to the laws of physics (as if they ever did) I just wanted the Aerialbots to be the same size as the Seekers. I don't think we've ever gotten that in any line, since 1985.

I could go with the Classics Seekers and the CW limbs, but the voyager seekers are a lot better and CW had good engineering, a bigger size could only improve that, IMO.

Because the Aerialbots (particularly the four limb-bots) are supposed to be smaller than the Seekers in robot mode, at the average size of the Autobot Cars.

I can't tell for Predaking, but having owned and handled the cheap-ass CW Devastator, only Longhaul would be a hard fit in a deluxe box. Still, they are "voyager" in size only because they are almost as good as happy meal toys. Hollow, simple, soft plastics, limited articulations... The undersized KO is ironically 100X better. Especially for the price.

According to the animation scale chart?
