These appear to be straight redecos of Firefly and Dead End.

Funny. I just watched The Key to Vector Sigma last night, and I could swear there were five jets, including some guy named Slingshot who was kind of a jerk to Ironhide, and in fact the most prominent member of the team in their introductory episode aside from Silverbolt. And I didn't see any Alpha Bravo anywhere...
So, er, define "always," please. Because the way I understood the word, it was not a subjective word.

How are they not? These two use the same molds and essentially the same colors as the Unite Warriors versions (or what is estimated to be such, in Wildrider's case).sol magnus wrote:While I have no dog in this fight, I'm not sure why Hasbro wouldn't release the actual Slingshot and Wildrider from Unite?

Exactly: UW Sling and Wildrider are simply Firefly and Dead End respectively, with new heads. Yes, amazingly, TakaraTomy took the cheap route for once.

Lies. Alpha Bravo has ALWAYS BEEN AN AERIALBOT.

Lately when it comes to a line they didn't created (unlike Q or Masterpiece), they always go cheap and just repaint Hasbro's stuff. Most likely the Slingshot and Wildrider heads were already part of the molds and not something Takara Tomy sculpted separately. Lately Takara Tomy doesn't seem interested in remolding figures themselves, let alone make new molds for lines started by Hasbro, except on rare occasions like the AOE Leader Optimus Prime upgrade.

I've actually taken that into consideration: two vehicle shells and three heads per mold. Look at Offroad and now Dead End.
*EDIT* Don't be surprised if Quickslinger and Brake-Neck are turned into new characters, possibly direct copies of their predecessors.

Why would they?
Not everything in Combiner Wars is based on IDW in case of point Galvatronus is in the toyline but is confirmed to not be in the comics.
Offroad's packaging says that Wildrider "fell" in battle yet in IDW Wildrider just quit the team after they lost to Bumblebee yet is still alive.
