Masterpiece Shattered Glass Optimus Prime Confirmed Pre-Order Up

If people want him, great! I don't however. I have focussed on G1. That why I ain't getting the Beast Masterpieces, and why I've decided to trim the MP collection down a little.

They're both mp-10 - just not necessarily in name. They both use the mp-10 mold and are colored nearly identically to represent the same character

Why would we be comparing a Hasbro release of the mold to a Takara one?

Because it does make a difference to some Masterpiece collectors. First of all the colors are noticeably different on the two and unless they changed something the smokestacks are shorter on the Hasbro version. Some people (myself included) want to keep Masterpiece collections consistent in both manufacturer and packaging style. I only have a few Masterpiece figures but I plan on getting more and they'll all be Takara. I prefer the look of the Takara boxes and want it to be the same throughout my entire collection.

Shattered glass prime is a vastly different character from g1 prime - that's like saying g1 prime and g1 megs have the same character - they don't, not even remotely

This. I got the Hasbro Prime because his colours were closer to what I wanted and his eyes aren't dead.

To be fair the others wouldn't cost much - this IS MP-10 after all. A Shattered Glass Wheeljack or Sideswipe wouldn't be as hard on the wallet.

I'm honestly surprised this is legitimate. He looks nice enough, but it bums me out. Before the MP10 mold is retired I would like to see these (and would rather have before SG):

I'm so happy this is coming out. I adore Shattered Glass. Hopefully it is the first of many. MP Delta Magnus is perfect as a SG Ultra Magnus too. There are also a couple of third party products out there that can add to the SG army.

Except there aren't that many G2 option for Masterpiece. Inferno isn't that much different between G1 and G2, they've already done Sideswipe, Jazz hasn't had a G1 figure yet (nor have the other Dinobots). That leaves Grimlock (could happen), Optimus Prime (YOTG is close enough), Starscream (feels like they would have done him by now if they were interested), and Ramjet (already an exclusive so unlikely). Hasbro and Takara Tomy aren't quite as repaint crazy as people think they are.

Why are people so hostile to non G1 Masterpiece? Diaclone, G2 repaints, Japan G1 characters, Beast Wars, now Shattered Glass. Masterpiece has NEVER been billed as G1 only. If you don't want it, don't buy it. Why trash it for others who do want it?

But word to the wise,this seems to be a platinum exclusive so wait to see if an exclusive us retailer will have it or wait till the listings show up on e_bay before buying. I am pretty sure this will be available for 150 one way or another.

One does not understand how much I love shattered glass. I will gladly buy things shattered glass if I can get a hold of them (I am watching 5 auctions on shattered glass stuff on ebay as we speak).

But I suppose I could wait, but I don't want it to sell out either. Plus, if I do pre-order I'll do so through TFsource
