thanks for the info. I might get him as the deluxe class is kinda underwhelming.
It would be nice to see a Human Alliance Soundwave.

Takara is basically the same as the hasbro version with the exception of better paint aps( I suppose)
Takara is the japanese extension of hasbro.. They make awesome toys with great features and paint aps and then the states get the watered down versions

Ha Jazz will be in the states, takara just moves more efficinetly than hasbro...
Leader SS will be in the US..

Actually, TakaraTomy is a separate company who owns the Transformers franchise as a whole, but has a close relationship with Hasbro because of it. Hasbro handles most of the basic designs and distribution for the US and related countries, while TakaraTomy does the producing and distribution for Japan as well as the occasional designing for the Japanese market.
For the movie lines the toys from TakaraTomy and Hasbro are virtually indistinguishable, but that's exceptional. But by not means should TakaraTomy's toys be considered superior.

Actually, I think they're more like Ultra sized.
'cept Skids. He's a about a Voyager.

I dunno. Standing my only HA (Sideswipe) next to most of my Voyagers and he seems about that size. My Ultras totally dwarf him.

As much as I love the design of the car and the robot, I still feel the Deluxe treatment we got was lukewarm. There were a lot of better Deluxe toys released after silver chubby-knees.
Good thing is that it's back-pack seems to collapse nicer than other HAs.
Kind of off topic, but to clear a point of another comment:

TAKARA and HASBRO: Neither company owns each other. Takara was the original inventor of the transforming toys that Hasbro made into a TV series called Transformers. Hasbro owns the brand and distribution everywhere in the world, except for Japan.
Didn't get that? Try this:
Toy radio and semi-truck that convert into robots = Takara "Diaclone".
Collect the unrelated converting things we engineered! Get them at your local toy store (only within Japan)!
Transforming radio named "Soundwave" is an evil "Decepticon" who fights the heroic "Autobots", lead by the inspiring "Optimus Prime" = Hasbro "Transformers".
Watch our cartoon and collect all the evil and heroic characters we made up from some toys we found in Japan! Get them at your local toy store (anywhere BUT Japan)!
To JelZe GoldRabbit and LIKwid:
I have compared several Takara toys to Hasbro's versions, which DO tend to be watered down versions...
- TA Binaltech vs HAS Alternators: metal parts and painted car body vs plain plastic and silly decos.
- TA Henkei vs HAS Classics or Universe: metalized parts and deeper plastic colour (+ better G1 homages).
- TA Car Robots vs HAS Robots In Disguise: MUCH better plastic; stiffer (less rubbery), better color and the metallic flakes in the plastic are much shinier... and hard springs for those little eye-poking missiles!
- And then TA Movieverse ROTF "Buster" Prime vs HAS Prime: Better paint applications, metalized parts and plastic molded in the right colors... and a BIG effing GUN.
I also recall that the very first TFTM old camaro had clear back windows in the Takara version, vs painted on the Hasbro.
Maybe the toys are the same design, but the overall quality of materials is better in the Takaras. Only problem? If you want it, you need to IMPORT from Japan.
Finally: Takara = long smokestacks (but isn't this an urban legend)

But what about HA Jazz? Sadly, we'll need to wait and see... I don't think I've seen a comparison of, let's say, HA Bumblebee before... has anyone?
