Transformers Combiner Wars G2 Bruticus Spotted in Canada

I had wondered when this was going to show up. Don't need Fruiticus, but he looks cool enough. I wonder why they're not doing Defensor in his G2 colors.

Well, if you have to drop one of the four original scramble combiners; Defensor is far and away the least popular.
I would, however, also wager one hasn't been announced yet because they were waiting on deluxe groove. You could argue g2 Bruticus not waiting on uw blast off invalidates that, but on the other hand, it still comes with a figure identified as blast off. G2 menasor and superion respectively came with wildrider and slingshot so I think they'll do the same for defensor. Just needed to wait on him getting his groove back.
It would, however, result in the unusual scenario of his being the only boxset without a legends partner - otherwise you end up with two grooves.

Just spotted G2 Superion, G2 Menasor and Victorion all together in one visit to TRU!

Man are they pricey at a irregular price of $200 AUS

Four fucking times now I've found deluxe Grove on amazon for 16.99. Four times now I've hit "buy it now" or added to cart. Four fucking times now I've had the transaction fail during check out because Groove fucking sells out that fucking fast.

We recently showed you a Canadian sighting of Transformers Combiner Wars G2 Bruticus on store shelves, and today care of Downshift we get a glimpse of him outside of his cardboard cage! Inspired by the wacky 90's Generation 2 color scheme, the Combaticon ensemble consists of Onslaught, Blast-Off, Brawl, Swindle, and Vortex. Also present is Shockwave, cleverly based on the Action Master colors (technically still G1, but released in 1990). Swindle and Blast Off actually look pretty good. The rest...eep. Even by G2 standards it's LOUD.

Onslaught looks a little plain but the rest look really nice. Shockwave looks incredible

To be fair, a lot of the paint went to Bruticus' chestplate.

I honestly enjoy the G2 set more than the regular retail release. Glad I picked him up.

Its pretty cool, with deluxe groove I now have all the members I want for my Combiners:

And man, I keep being impressed with that Swindle toy. I just tried to do that bit where you can attach his gun above his shoulder and I am now pumped to get Hound since it now seems that this retool was clearly made with him in mind:





And since you are able to connect a gun above each shoulder, I will try doing a double shoulder canon mode when I find Hound at retail

And I finally tried Swindle as an arm, but tis just a bit too beefy to me, even more beefy than using the tank as an arm:

So long as Onslaught glows fiercely under a black light, I don't mind if his G2 self has only a few camo splotches. But seriously - orange? Where could he hide with such camo?

Poor Breakdown. Guess his paranoia wasn't so far off after all.

Well, untried hitting them with a black light and nothing really "glowed" sire it looked a little different but not cool glow in the dark kind of coolike.

Onslaughthas incredibly bland combiner legs. Some paint apps in there would have made a work of difference. But the Breast plate looks fantastic.

I don't recommend using Brawl as an arm. He's all kind of loose. Might just be my set, but even the fingers in the hand are wonky. Although I like the look he has going at the moment so he will stay like this for a while.

Waiting for an HTS posting for Fruiticus....

Does anyone know, or can anyone remember if it was said why Defensor isn't being released in his G2 colors? Seems odd to only do Menasor in G2.

Nothing official, but we've speculated that it could be for one of several reasons

-Hasbro wanted to wait to acquire the UW Groove mold for it (though this would mean that defensor would be paired with 2 grooves)

-The slot was given to g2 bruticus or victorion

-The prototype it was based on may not have been far enough along to give detailed info on deco, and Hasbro didn't want to bother winging it

-Not being able to resolve the 2 grooves dilemma

No G2 symbols on G2 Bruticus? They are on G2 Superion and G2 Menasor... Eeeeehh???

Since I collect all non-exclusive Legends/Deluxe/Voyager Hasbro Combiner Wars figures, I am glad there isn't a G2 Defensor... or G2 Devastator, which actually got released, if you remember those orange dudes.

CW G2 Bruticus having clean yellow thighs follows the original G2 Bruticus, but Fall Of Cybertron G2 Bruticus has camouflaged thighs. Can't wait for the CW one to arrive here, and photograph all 3 together!

Looking at pics of the original g2 onslaught and bruticus, well, dang, he really is that plain in robot and torso mode. Might try some black paint on the grills on the thighs.

So plain onslaught and g1 con symbols are minuses, but on the whole sooooooo pretty. Wonder if some stock g2 stickers will do to cover those up or if reprolabels will do a full set for g2 'cus.

Honestly, I enjoy all the g2 sets more than the normal colors. Especially Menasor. God, that drag strip.

If the only thing I like on this figure is the hands/feets, it confirms to me just how much I'm happy I preordered the Takara version of this set. That being said, I'm sure a lot of people will be happy with this version and I think it's great Hasbro will release it.

Think I might have to go for the Hasbro version (price) and hope that Reprolabels makes a decent sticker face for Computron lol

Price wise, I think the Takara version of this set might not be too expensive. I know that In Canada, with the currency exchange rate and shipping, my preorder of the Takara set is less expensive then my Victorion set I bought at my local Toys R us.
