Thanks to site sponsor Robotkingdom we have some additional images of the yet to be officially announced Nike redeco of the Generations IDW Stealth Bomber Deluxe Megatron. Earlier images from an eBay auction also included a football accessory sporting a Decepticon logo. The figure itself bears an autograph on it's right chest that appears to be that of the Detroit Lions' Calvin Johnson who just so happens to have the nickname Megatron. We await further details on exactly what type of exclusive this will likely be and it's availability. Images mirrored below.

You'd think they'd at least put the guy's face in the helmet (and not Megatron face) - that'd be kind of neat. They make printable face-plates in Japan, and if this guy had a peg for a printable face, it'd at least have the option to be replaced by one's own face. :-?

Anyone else curious as to how he earned the nickname "Megatron"? I mean, it's not like he pulled out a fusion cannon to help him blast past the defensive line and into the end zone.

I think one of his teammates actually coined his nickname. Probably said something like "You did it just like Megatron" or something

Maybe he loves Transformers and likes imitating their voices and catchphrases whenever he thinks he's alone.
So someone might have caught him while he was repeatedly saying "Fools, I am MEGATRON" while under the shower or something.

As for the toy itself, I love black decoes on toys, but I have to say this looks better to me than the original deco does.

Nike does know that the Lions' colors are silver and blue? 6"5' Calvin Johnson got the name from a teammate because in his all-silver Lions uniform he kind of looks and plays like a giant unstoppable silver robot, and the TF 2007 movie was big when Calvin Johnson was just blowing up the league.

So, why is Calvin Johnson Megatron purple?

Yes, the nickname was given by teammate Roy Williams way back when. It stuck with fans. CJ now has his own clothes through Nike, and one shirt features a very Decepticon like CJ symbol. Purple is a primary Decepticon color and some of CJ's products are in purple (in lots of colors not just Detroit Lions Honolulu Blue and silver).

Has nothing to do with a fusion cannon. He dominates. He's strong and basically as bad ass as Megatron (referring to movie Megs at the time).

Yep dominates like the first movie Megatron (2007) did. Calvin Johnson came out in 2007 when the Movie was still new and Transformers is all the craze. Not to be confused with ROTF and DOTM Megatrons where hes basically just a little bitch... =X

Still deciding if I should get one of these from ebay. The many auctions usually ends at $30-50 bucks shipped now, or wait for an official release. I think this is awesome and would love to support it. hmmm..
