Amazon.com lowers price (again) on Platinum Edition G1 Trypticon to $101.99

I'm surprised the $101.99 price has lasted as long as it has. I assumed it would be a quick thing.

As cool as it is, I don't think the original Trypticon toy gathers much desire from people who aren't intense G1 fans, ESPECIALLY now that we know that we're getting a modern Titan Class Trypticon in the coming years. We'll probably see another price drop or two down the road, as Platinum Trypticon might not sell too well. Hell, he might be a case of "digital shellfwarmer".

It's the shipping cost that really scares off the potential buyers. A great piece to acquire if possible. (My version cost me around $ 20.00 back in 1991 no manual, complete decal and cr@ppy box but minty content)

Sorry, but I'm keeping my shelves (and wallet) ready for Titans Return Trypticon. Sure it's a couple years off - but I'd rather have the newer version with go-faster stripes....

Still, it's the only place to have a premium looking DOTM voyager megs. But is it worth 150$? The G1 Megs have no accessories beside the arm canon/visor and his colors are all wrong.

Anyone seen any comparisons between Combiner Wars Bruticus and Warbotron's wb-01? Just wondered which would look better and if its just a little better or alot. also how he would compare in size with CW Devy.

Also (and reason I am putting post here) has anyone seen reasonable prices on warbotron if he is indeed a superior version? I know from reviews they both have their issues. I seen warbotron the other day for 399 on a site but most are charging crazy prices for him (not that 399 isn't also crazy which is why I didn't jump on it).

Oh, THAT Crosscut. I already own him so I'm good. As for a classic Rodimus, I recommend the Henkei version. By far the best deco. Bought him years ago for 40$CAN shipped (or 40$US... Yeah, those were the golden years).

I prefer the Classics deco myself. I like those flames a bit better, and find the chrome on Henkei to be equal parts gaudy and easily scratched.

If you happen to live near a K-mart, and they haven't sold out of the Platinum Insecticons (if your store even carried them to begin with), they're marked down to $19.99. This is likely not universal, but if you know of a store just sitting on stock, may want to go check it out. Also given that it's K-mart, I'd scan 'em in a price checker or have someone at a register do it if they're marked higher, as they may be cheaper in the system. In other words - it's likely this is an extremely YMMV type situation so don't be mad at me or your local K-mart employees if this doesn't work out for you

Not sure if this is a new price drop, but I was cruising the usual online haunts and saw that TRU has MP Bluestreak down to $49.99. Only $10 off, but it might be the sale someone was looking for. Bonus: orders over $19 are shipping for free.

May have to swing out to my local Kmart this weekend. They had a few sets around Christmas on the clearance rack ($79.99 with 25% off). I never had Kickback, and I could use my G1's as battle damaged clones I don't really have a problem using these guys on the MP shelf, as they are official and small overall (and I still don't have a good Kickback)!

Wrong set WJ88 - those are the chromed-out 'Dinobots Unleashed' set. BBTS currently has them for $100, and had them on sale for $80, and at one point $60 some time back.
