More Masterpiece news this week, as it looks like a variation of Masterpiece Optimus Prime/Convoy is about to come our way. While not very unpredicatable, Masterpiece MP01-B is a Black repaint of MP-01, clearly paying homage to Scourge/Nemesis Prime. Thanks to e-hobby, we get a wonderful look at this figure;

BTW, the piece comes with a comic produced by Yoshioka Hidetsugu (吉岡英嗣)......
Releasing date is 2010 January.

It looks amazing, but why does it still have an autobot symbol, couldn't they remold it into a decepticon symbol, or wasn't nemesis prime a decepticon? :S

other then that it looks amazing, i wonder if the stickers on the com links will be different

This is Black version Optimus Prime/Convoy. Not Nemesis Prime.

But just bloody no need to open a new mold for it, convenient sake.

While most black Prime releases in the west are Decepticons the tendency in Japan is for them to be Cybertrons. We have seen this previously with Jafcon Convoy, LD Black Fire Convoy, Nucleon Quest Prime (I think that one was called Prime rather than Convoy or Ginrae, could be wrong), THS-02B and the so far unproduced Wondefest Black Convoy, although Car Robots Black Convoy and the Nemesis version of Convoy from Micron Legend buck the trend.

I would have rather seen the symbol remoulded as well, it won't be easy to make look good with just the application of a sticker over the moulded Cybertron symbol.

ohh im half asleep, i thought it was nemesis prime, but i just re read it and it says it only pays homage to him, and thanks for the info on the japanese part, i don't really know much about the japanese side of transformers to be honest but i'm gonna start reading more about it on Tformers wiki to nerd up :-B

History lessons on Black Primes in Japan aside, I do have a sneaking suspicion the fact it was easier to leave the Bot symbol and call it Black Optimus is in play. :lol:

I'm so getting this to go aloong with Skywarp. But this is giving me a godsend because I need a "Nemesis Prime" who turns from the Autobots to the Decepticons without actually changing his symbol. If any of you wanna hear my ideas, send me a private message or an email

I was just thinking about a black MP Convoy a few weeks ago and now we have this. I should think about cool stuff more often, like maybe a real MP Ultra Magnus trailer (please, please, please!!!). :grin:

Why don't you do that, can lightning be hitting the same spot twice? And if it does, you should be buying a lottery after that, hehe.

Anyhow, back on topic. It looks great but I'll skip it. Got the regular Prime and Magnus already for the same mold. But then again, if they do Shining Magnus count me in.

Well, it does look badass, it's not quite as badass as most other Nemesis Prime/Black Convoys, and I just can't warrant spending the money. Plus my general rule is that I buy black repaints of the molds I don't like as regular Primes:

RID Scourge (of course)
Armada Nemesis Prime
Alternators Nemesis Prime
Alternity Black Convoy

All figures I don't own in their original color schemes. Though I'll break that rule if they ever release the Henkei Black Convoy. I'd much rather see and own that than a Masterpiece.

And I still need MP Grimlock. :mrgreen:

Not really what I had in mind when I said reasonably affordable... Pre-order is in, but there's a good chance it'll be canceled. But I figure it's better to have a place in line while I think about it...just in case.

That's not a bad price, for how exclusive, big and heavy it is. Out of my budget for now, but still not a bad price.

It is (and so is $149.99) considering how much MPs Convoy and Ultra Magnus costed... it's not like it comes with any different accessories. But considering it's eHobby I suppose it can be a little higher.

Another awesome figure! With all the new (repaints) Masterpieces, Alternity and Encores figure coming the next 6 months, I better stop collecting ROTF figures immeditiately. And return the rest!

If he had a Con logo and trailer i would get him. $154 for a repaint is a bit much considering MP1 sold around $130 back when he first came out.

It's legit. E-hobby wouldn't do such a thing. Plus, it's on BBTS already.

It's more about the history of Nemesis Prime. While I do love my black repaints and I do have a great number of them, my collection is far from complete.
