New info on features for Transformers Masterpiece MP-41 Dinobot

What was I saying about laser eyes and spinning tail weapon before? At least we know where the money is going to now, but I could really do without the electronics.

'memba when the Inferno mold was released? Same with IH etc. The intial SRP was waaaaaaaay out of there! Especially the local based importers. When the actual fig got PO'd, the prices went down. END.

Sounds great! Still doesn't sound like proper, sound, justification for that particular price point. I know it's bigger than Primal, but WAAAAAY smaller than Magnus - even considering all these other features - and does not justify that price.

But like Magnus (and Inferno, apparently?) the price will probably go down.

Unfortunately, I am sick, and will get this no matter what. I just... Won't preorder it.

It sounds like they're going all-out with Dinobot, which is great news and goes a way to justifying the price.

I'm putting my preorder with HLJ as usual, and i'm not expecting preorders from them until he's been revealed in Figure King.

He looks really good but he looks off to me in certain aspects. I think I need to see some more pictures in better quality first. The face and head sculpt could be better and the proportions aren’t doing it for me as much as they should. Still looks great though and Dinobot truly got the Masterpiece treatment.

Eh I’ve got time to decide, at the price of $180-250 I probably won’t be able to get him till December 2018/January 2019. By that time he’ll only be available at $250. Or I could do some saving month by month until July. But of course there’s other stuff coming out before then. And then there’s the fact that MP Cheetor doesn’t quite have the hand feel I like...I’m so torn.

Here it is, the biggest news of the year, the full reveal of Takara's Transformers Beast Wars Masterpiece MP 41 Dinobot.
The Japanese preorders are now out so we know the full MSRP for those ordering directly from Takara and it is 28,000 Yen. This is exactly what was initially reported. Of course, those wishing to import it themselves may be privy to retailer specific discounts however as you will see below, this is a big boy, one of the biggest Masterpiece figures yet, and the shipping for such a box could make the total cost a wash compared to what a local collectible stores are selling him at (which is around $250 USD).

Now onto this amazing reveal. Below you will see images of this beast of a figure showing a robot mode which looks like it seriously cannot transform. A shot of him with the previous Beast Wars Masterpiece figures shows he is scaled proportionally in robot mode, being more than a head taller than Optimus Primal. However, a shot of him in beast mode reveals that the scale of the robot mode was clearly the priority here. You will let us know what you think about that. A listing from Amiami gives us a full list of his accessories which can also be seen in a shot below. These, along with the electronics, might help answer for the high price of the figure. He includes a modular base which seems to be the first in a series, similar to what comes with the new Machine Robo figures. You will see no mention of a different set of eyes for the raptor mode but that is because the eye changing gimmick is probably similar to MP Grimlock's where the eyes are not a seperate piece that must be removed to be changed. The full list of accessories will be found after the images that were found on the Snakas blog (initially originating from a now removed Amazon Japan listing).

This figure is scheduled for a July 2018 release.

Masterpiece Dinobot looks great ... except for the glaring "hole" near his hips in Velociraptor mode. Other than that, he looks fantastic.

I would have preferred a smaller version of him though. While I know he was sometimes shown as being much taller than the other Maximals, I think him being just a little bit taller instead of a lot taller would have been better. The group shot picture is kind of hard to tell what's going on exactly because of the camera angle pointing upward and Optimus Primal being in an action pose.

I dont understand why people have such a problem with the price. Sure it's more than the average masterpiece but judging by the size he has to be at least as tall as mp Ironhide, maybe taller. He also comes with a ton of accessories and obviously an insane parts count and amount of engineering. Well worth it imo

Well, Looks amazing in Robot Mode. Looks a little panel-y in Raptor mode. The price is a bit high, even AmiAmi has the pre-order up for 21000 yen.

But considering its still quite a ways away, it gives me time to save up before actually pre-ordering.

Don't need a display base. Wish they had removed it to lower the cost.

DO, however, wish that it came with the second disc. Let me guess... the second will come with BW Megatron?

Holy fucking shit now this is a masterpiece! If they can pull Dinobot off this well BW Megatron should be a piece of cake. People complain about the him being panel-y but let’s be realistic, how much better could they have done in his beast mode for such TV accurate robot mode? Until it’s like 2050 and they release a new MP Prime that’s 110% cartoon accurate with that year’s modern engineering, this is just as good as it’s gonna get

Also are we probably not getting MP Rattrap and Rhinox because of their Generations toys?

Looks flaming spectacular. The dino legs/ robot arms look a little on the chunky side, but hell, it's still fantastic and totally worth it.

Hope they continue and do the whole season 1 cast. Probably never happen though.

I gotta bring attention to this: look how wide his torso is.

Other gripes... the eye beams are conjoined with a webbed look, and I really hope you can make his eyes green without said beams. Also, only one disc? He shoulda come with both because of their pivotal significance, or neither. Megatron stole the Golden Disc, and Inferno found the Alien Disc.

Other than that, I can't say I'm not floored. But I need to see some high res up close's of his face(s)!

Holy crap, that MP Dinobot! I can forgive all the panel lines for the dino mode because the bot mode is so perfect. Also, no feet on chest for the dino mode. And for once, the bot is BIG and not a flimsy deluxe. Cheat chest in bot mode? I forgive thee, OH noble warrior.

I dunno if I'll ever get him because he will be so expensive. But that BW MP will definitely be on my radar.

Beast mode looks a little awkward to me, but bot mode is a thing of beauty. love the eye lasers.

But man, it's gonna be a while before I can afford this.

I think they will come. Especially Rhinox since the generations toy is way too small for the right scale.

What I find super cool is how that chest is not truly fake. Its his underbelly in robot mode, so a part of the alt mode (jut not the head).

Fellow Seibertronian shajaki has pointed us towards a new official video from the Takara Tomy YouTube channel, featuring the latest addition to the Transformers Masterpiece line: MP-41 Dinobot! Covering pretty much all of the images we've seen in the previous post from Amazon Japan - which you can check out again here - we get to see clips from the Beast Wars cartoon that inspire the figure's transformations passages, poses, and accessories such as the spinning tail shield, the sword, the swappable faces and Gold Disk, plus the laser eyes, the figure stand and some comparison shots with previous Beast Wars Masterpiece figures MP-34 Cheetor and MP-32 Optimus Primal (Beast Convoy).

Additionally, via the Takara Tomy website, a feature on the figure lets us know that the raptor mode does indeed have changeable eyes, the robot mode's eyes can be lit up green or red, and we get a better look at the back of the figure and the 'ladder magic' (we need a new name..) that hides the beast mode panels in robot mode.

Check them all out below, as we also get further confirmation that yes, the figure will cost 28000 Yen (approx 250 USD) and is due for release in July 2018!

Credit where credit's due, figuring out how to make Dinobot transform must have been an absolute nightmare! From the looks of it he turns inside out with all the paneling.

Please support Takara by purchasing this item at PO release prices and not wait for them to go on sale! Takara's financial situation is quite bleak with them always in the red... make MP Dinobot worth their effort and give them a financial blowout by making him a successful MP release unlike poor old Tracks!

As much as I want this figure, and I do very much, that price is simply far beyond what I'm willing to pay. 150 would have been far more reasonable.

July is a long way from now though, maybe something will change in that time. Either the price or my willingness to pay it.

Anyone else agree we need more sizzle videos like this one? Yeah, totally makes me want to purchase the figure. BUT! I won't. No attachment to the character or Beast Wars really at all. AND, even at the cheapest through AmiAmi at around $188 USD, nope. $150 is my limit on figures now a days. And even then it's gotta be something I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally want.

I am still really on the fence about the price though. That is just... I could somewhat justify MP-36 because he is the big con leader himself, but even though I do love Dinobot and need him for my Beast Wars guys, he is still more expensive than I really want to pay.
