Gotta admit, this is the first time I've been really tempted to buy one of these sets. I'm a Masterpiece only kinda guy these days but this Bruticus is really testing my resolve! :D

I was really excited by the idea of a better Blast-off, but it really doesn't work for me. The robot mode isn't great with the huge chest and weird feet, and the Arm mode isn't that different from the Hasbro version. It's nice and I am glad people are getting the Blast-off they want, but just not for me.

I agree very much. The hasbro jet blast off is a slimmer arm and works well in comparison to Vortex. They compliment each other very well. That being said, photography is not very friendly with any Combiner Wars figures. It takes getting them in hand to truly appreciate any of them and see how they look.

I'm still on the fence with this. I said I was getting Takara Bruticus because I collect every release possible of the big guy but I'm just not enjoying the colors. I know they are cartoon accurate but the chest and onslaught as a whole just don't pop for me. Again maybe in hand it will be different but that's a pricey gamble especially since I have hasbro one and he's great as he is.

Yeah Hasbro is so garbage right now with CW. This looks much better in fact it looks more expensive too.

I had difficulty understanding what you mean by this.

The best I can come up with is that there's a good deal more paint and a bunch of it is metallic.

Depending on where you live the set is actually cheaper than the Hasbro set at retail.

Despite the fact that only Takara Bruticus is better then Hasbro.

Besides that Hasbro has been about the same we also wound't have got new characters from Takara at least Hasbro is trying to move on from the same old G1 characters you have seen a thousand times.

Yeah, hasbro's combiners have been far nicer looking overall than most of TT's, not buying that statement at all >:oP

I'm just sick of all the praise Takara gets being treated like the savior of Transformers while Hasbro is called a greedy and lazy company when all Takara does is give their toys fancy paint or have a few exclusives.

Might as well shut down Hasbro and make everything Takara how about they run everything so everyone is happy not like anyone is going to miss Hasbro.

I don't get comments like this how does a single dot on the screen help.

Does that look like it would magically make my words any easier to read?

The reason I space my lines is so that they are easy to read.

If I may interject...

In the whole Hasbro vs. TakaraTomy debate, it's kinda like comparing apples and oranges. Hasbro's figures excel in overall more pleasing decos and new characters, while TakaraTomy's advantage is in new molds for the characters that were put aside and cartoon-accurate deco.

Neither viewpoint is superior to the other IMO.

Actually, yes it would. Did you do literacy at school?

I tell you what would make your lines a lot easier to read- if you typed like a normal person instead of putting

linebreaks

between

every

single

sentence.

It's really annoying and unsightly.

They haven't taught me jack since I was like Grade 4 no one bothered to tell me how to write I taught myself how too If you think my typing is bad It's at least readable unlike my writing also being mentally handicapped does a number on you as well but I'm not going to be talking about that.

I'm not changing how I have been typing my whole life anytime soon and at leaser I'm not spacing them out after every couple lines.

Lots of salty broke people on the post.

Hasbro is full of s#!t.

(Space)

I liked Alpha Bravo but it was forced down my throat along with Off-Road. Cool substitutions but not what I was looking for

(space)

Takara, this time around has been better. Go to any review and comparison of CW Superion vs. UW Superion and see who is the winner. Even for the price you win with Unite Warriors because the aftermarket price for Quickslinger and Brake-Neck are ridiculous. Lousy timing release and the figures got snatched up. So obviously the substitution characters were not as popular I guess. But don't take my word for it, watch a review and then look at your Hasbro versions and shut up.

(Space)

UW Hot Spot fixes the QC issues from CW Hot Spot and you get Groove. Mind you you may not get Groove in the USA because UW-03 is a TakaraTomy mall exclusive.

(Space)

Lets not compare Hasbro/SDCC Devy vs. Takara Devy...because again you'll lose that argument. Face it CW is 3/4 a line. It started out good and then tread down a miserable path of repaint hell.

So like it or not, the paints are better, and yes I owned both version except Defensor. I went and bought UW-03 instead. I sold all my CW toys so I have proof I own both at the same time. And this time Takara wins. Go back to your regularly scheduled Hasbro praise thread and let us have our Blast-Off as a space shuttle.

As previously said, comparing hasbro and Takara is a fool's errand. They are both drastically different in terms of how they operate, their reach, their corporate structure and their competition. Takara's tfs face stiff competition in Japan, the land of transforming mechas, so it's no wonder why their products come out the way they do.

There is no fact other then that we, the consumer is the true winner here. Depending on your collection style, you'll have different prefences and wants, so either Takara or hasbro (or both if you want to put powerglide and alpha bravo in a g1 toon accurate superion instead of slingshot). So you may feel like one has the advantage over the other but it's far from fact as each to their own.

Take me for example, I think the unite warriors are quite nice but I'm more than happy with the hasbro ones and I appreciate that they are doing new things with the characters. This is also my reasoning why I love IDW, Autobot Megatron? Sign me up!

So for me, hasbro has beat Takara.

Also About Deluxe Groove, The Deco Is probably a exclusive, meaning all Hasbro have to do is slap A toy accurate colour scheme (or something close to it) and they are good to go.

With Takara and Hasbro, it's best to just see them as shades of grey. :-)

Sorry, no way is this accurate in my books, UW menasor, defensor and super prime all look terrible compared to hasbro's, and I don't need a deluxe sized motorcycle to go with TT's crappy, unpainted defensor >:oP

Nobody 'forced' you to buy a/b and offroad, they're 'scramble' city figures for a reason, the only thing holding you back from mixing them up was your nostalgia >:oP

I too won't argue the devs thing, I like that people that wanted a devastator could gets hasbro's for a good price through the various deals.

No, partly because it's easier for me to go hasbro (I love being able to get my goods right there and then) and partly because aside from looking nice, in a world of prioritising, they was no way I could justify them to my better half.

In an ideal world I would have them all, hasbro and Takara alike.

Is this the part where you come in and say though that my opinion doesn't matter because I don't own the figures?

Really...yeah you don't own UW figures. CW Defensor cant stand up straight. CW Hot Spot was a pint to even transform becasue the tabs wont line up. The added paint details for Hot Spot in combined mode are the only saving grace but he still has that ever slight lean when combined.

Hasbro Devy looks like a cheap toy with unpainted rims and lack of elbows there of. Yeah I got CW Devy for $100 but it lacks so much I sold it and used those funds to get the better version. I'm sick of Hasbro. If Hasbro did what it was supposed to do I wouldn't have to import.

Your opinion matters to you. Don't be stupid I never said anything about your opinion. However your opinion is based off of assumption. You would have to have both to make a discerning decision. In hand is even better than far, far away across the water...if you get my drift.

I have none of those problems with defensor, maybe you should've tried a different hotspot, sounds like you got a bad one. Mine may lean a little, but I pose my combiners so it's a non-issue, but of course TT tightens things up, they get the benefit of time >:oP

Yall funny to me....I mean if you are happy with a nanny brown lackluster repaint of Quickslinger, then so be it. But in the end at least Takara is trying to give you G1 accuracy. If Hasbro had made a proper Blast-Off then the comments would differ even further with "you're paying too much for a slightly better repaint."

However it's a brand new mold which makes sense.

What y'all afraid if you complain Hasbro would stop making toys?
Yall funny in here...like Hasbro gonna come after you.

And a a nanny brown repaint looks better??
Nope I shouldn't have asked that question, for I know the answer
"it's the best thing since sliced bread"

Well if it looks bad to you, then why are you in this thread? You work for Hasbro or something...you must get free toys or a small fanboy check because I fail to see what is wrong with TakAra Blast-Off

I'm still waiting for Takara to make a proper Blast Off since the one they ended up making has so many things wrong with Blast Off's look that it's hardly accurate to any G1 version of Blast Off.

bvzxa wrote:And a a nanny brown repaint looks better??
That repaint at least got Blast Off's colors right. Takara's new mold Blast Off is bright copper instead of the dark brown that Blast Off was in the cartoon. And the shuttle mode's color layout is all wrong.

And this is all coming from someone who is still planning on getting Takara's Bruticus set instead of Hasbro's.

Nintendo VS Sega.

Marvel VS DC.

Star Wars VS Star Trek.

Mac VS PC.

Hasbro VS Takara

Crybabies Fanboys VS Normal people who don't give a fawk and just wanna have fun.

The never ending battle is still going on.

I'm still waiting for Takara to make a proper Blast Off since the one they ended up making has so many things wrong with Blast Off's look that it's hardly accurate to any G1 version of Blast Off.

And this is all coming from someone who is still planning on getting Takara's Bruticus set instead of Hasbro's.

Tis true, it's not perfect. I would have taken a G1 transformation with better articulation.
But I will not except a just plain old lazy repaint of Quickslinger. At least if Hasbro remolded the head for goodness sake then we would have a different argument. But if you're not in the market to buy the Takara version, why should we care or here complaints. I'm still buying it because it's a complete package. I'm really interested in Vortex and if they will fix the QC issue with Brawl's midsection.

But we give praise to the nanny brown repaint... :BANG_HEAD:

That repaint at least got Blast Off's colors right. Takara's new mold Blast Off is bright copper instead of the dark brown that Blast Off was in the cartoon. And the shuttle mode's color layout is all wrong.

And because of Takara's obsession with show-accuracy, the robot mode proportions ended up bloated and awkward compared to how they were in the cartoon and to how the Quickslinger mold's proportions are natural-looking and not awkward. Not to mention that this is also why the front end shuttle thruster ended up behind the windshield instead of in front of it where they're supposed to be both on the G1 cartoon model and on real world shuttles.

Again, NOBODY has brought up hasbro's blast-off as evidence or otherwise for their use in an argument, just you; maybe you should stop generalizing on behalf of other people >:oP

The colors are for the least not perfect, they are close. I still have Blast-Off from 1986.
To me he's Quickslinger thrown in mud, I shall call him 'Mudslinger'. All they had to do was give Blast-Off a remolded head and it would have owned.

HEY!

You are all going to stop now. This is the unite warriors thread, not the Hasbro versus Takara thread! Bring the subject back to the unite warriors guys and quit comparing the 2 companies. Preferences are preferences, but this is getting out of hand. Simmer down please.

Alrighty folks, I think it's safe to say you guys aren't going to agree on this. So let's tone it down and accept that everyone has a differing opinion and move on.

Or just go with what D-Max said above. That works too.

That is why I said if they made him with a simplistic G1 Transformation and gave him articulation I would have been cool with that. Even Fansproject did that with their Blast-Off add-on and it was good.

However I had to make a decision, and I'm gonna buy it. I still won't buy the Hasbro Blast-Off.

Neither viewpoint is superior to the other IMO.

i agree, also hasbro seems to be more toy accurate while takara goes with cartoon accuracy
to be honest i like both versions but will only go with takara if my wallet permits it

Me too. Takara's strength is making new toys for classic characters like Masterpiece figs and hasbro is good at making new versions of characters like Combiner Wars

Unfortunately, those improvements came at a price. Double the Hasbro one, in fact, if you count all the fees.

I got my H-Devy early with free shipping and a delayed discount. For that huge price difference, I say that both are equivalent. However, if one have to pay the same $ total for any of them, Takara would be the clear winner obviously.

The difference between tt devestator and hasbro was down to budget between the two companies ( I bet the people directly overlooking the devestator project would of loved to have spent that extra on it but probably weren't allowed by the people above them)

But anyway, I wonder how tt will be handling sky lynx, not to mention computron or liokaiser (I think it will be really interesting to see what they do here as I can't see a sky lynx repaint sitting well with them as dezaras or leozack)

They may just repaint Computron, or even give him a new head or something to make him more different from Superion. Also, they managed to shoehorn in the Optimus combiner thanks to energon, but I wonder how they could do Sky Lynx and his team. that is very much difficult to do. (but then again, Galvatronus) :BOT:

A new head and chest pieces is a good start. Maybe some more retooling to the limbs to make them that more distinct (not necessarily to the point of reshelling).

And as I said earlier, they may just skip Sky Reign except for Sky Lynx and build upon Hasbro's Liokaiser. I mean, if they're gonna go Computicon, why not his wavemate?

Well they never do 'wavemates' at the same time. But look at optimus maximus, and even moreso grand galvatronus; I'm sure they'll do all of them. In due time, of course ;)
