I hope most stores avoid these figures. Otherwise, they will eat up shelf space and prevent ACTUAL Transformers from being stocked. I can see RED figures clogging up shelves for months....

Most stores avoid stocking any toys at all so I don't think you have to worry about them either even being in most stores or pegwarming the ones they are in.

True. I think the more important thing to note is what's BEHIND those red figures in that picture...I do believe that's an Overload...

Can confirm these are hitting some places, I found the wave in Lynnwood WA this morning. I'm at least curious about these, especially if we're supposed to get stuff like Prime Knock Out, so I grabbed Prime and Optimus. I haven't opened them yet but they look like similar material to Marvel Legends so I guess I'll find out in a bit.

They are walmart exclusive so you won't see them elsewhere

This is Walmart we're talking about, they don't have a clue how to manage the Transformers section. They could be selling WfC Battlemasters, but instead they're selling those same Guardian figures they've been selling off and on for nearly 10 years and a whole column of pegs worth at that! I hope the RED line is replacing those and not another Transformers line.

I was considering getting into these because while I considered Marvel Legends, SW Black, the new GI Joe & Ghostbusters all to be very good quality lines, they either had too many releases, or weren't my thing. After seeing a reviewer on Youtube show that the plastic was very bendy (Prime's antenna are bent), and the plastic used seems to have some slimy residue, I think I'll pass...

Besides, you know there's inevitably going to be some sort of exclusive that will be extremely limited, and cost a ton of money, that wont be obtainable for completists like myself. So just sparing myself some anxiety in advance.

I'd be down to try these but can't find them on Walmart online, hopefully there won't be too bad a mark-up on eBay.

these remind me of the mega SCF figures from years ago
only i wish they could do these red figures like the smaller SCF figures
so we dont have to spend 30 dollars per figure

That would make sense since the RED figures are basically just more expensive guardian toys in a package ;)

Soooo... a double exclusive? :-? The line is already exclusive to Walmart, not sure what they could do to make it any more exclusive than that. Robot Points? ;)

RED might be a timed exclusive to walmart, lots of companys are forgetting to state that recently (or maybe thats just Sony :P) like MOTU origins was.

I found the entire wave at my local Walmart. I can’t say I’m overly impressed with these. Non transforming Transformers tend to be a head scratcher for most collectors with the exception of Sideshow, Prime1, PCS statues and those wonderful creations from Threezero (formerly ThreeA), because they serve more aesthetic purposes. Meanwhile these are clearly channeling a nostalgic G1 Sunbow animated series homage. I like the idea of them but wish Hasbro had given them the better sculpt and paint treatment (cell shading anyone?) like the Black Series, Legends and now the 6” Joe Classified series are benefitting from. Besides their articulation, I don’t feel there’s a great deal more separating them from their Titan Guardian vinyl figure counterparts. The plus side is for those that love the G1 cartoon accuracy of MP-36 and MP-44 and wouldn’t transform those figures anyway but can’t afford the MP premium price tag of those aforementioned offerings. These are a smaller, far cheaper alternative that can display nicely on a desk. I own both of the previously mentioned MP leaders but couldn’t help but to pick up R.E.D Optimus and Megatron because I am impressed with their box art and packaging, and really my nostalgia itch always drives me to pick up G1 inspired offerings of them especially when I can buy them together on the same hunt. :BOT:

Has cheetor and arcee convertRED anyone on them yet? :p ill have to wait to see the final figures if the first lot is anything to go by but they look a lot better and the articulation looks like it can support the weapons.

I want a RED Arcee. Because this time, she won't need a backpack and will be the most screen accurate ever, beating even the MP.

Not really sure she could be considered the most screen accurate ever if the one on screen could transform into a car while this one woldn't.

Anyways, here are the reveals. That Cheetor feels BEYOND useless.

Uhm... o dear. They must have based him off of an incorrect color chart, namely that of the Telemocha release:

The brown itself is more than likely from the forearms of the original toy:

Greetings Seibertronians! Enjoy the RED reveals from Pulsecon this past weekend? Well to tide you over till Prime Arcee hits Walmart's shelves, fellow Seibertron user and toy reviewer, Chuckdawg1999, has created a video review showing off all the wave 1 releases of the line. This includes G1 versions of Optimus Prime, Megatron and Soundwave. Be warned though as his thoughts may make you think twice.

This is what Chuck has to say about these:
chuckdawg1999 wrote:If the RED Series was made by any other company it would be a fantastic line of articulated robot figures. The problem is the RED Series is made by Hasbro, the company that set the standard of what articulated 6" scale figures should be. In that case, the first three RED Series figures fall short of what they should be. Yes, they're fun, but they're just not what I was expecting and probably not what you were.

We also have another review from Toy Shiz showing that these are their own new scale.

What do you think of his review? Do you own these figures? Do you agree? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

"Soft rubberry plastics".

Thanks Chuck. Now I know and I can finally say that's what I expected.

Not surprised, this seems to be in line with other reviews I've seen.

Chuck- was there any indication of slipperyness or a "film" on the plastic of these figures? Also be fortunate your Prime had straight antenna, I've seen some bent in package.

To be fair, don't all of Hasbro's 6" figures have that plastic?

So far nothing in the RED line looks as good as Prime Arcee, hope they don't screw her up too much for the final figure.

Cheetor, colors aside, that face sculpt is kinda awful with those long slit eyes. Really should have opened them more. Hopefully when they repaint it into Tigatron they do some new sculpting. But how will Kingdom Cheetor look with this gun?

Really bummed out that the line has no sense of scale when all of the other 6" lines do. No scale, no BAF, no license fees, same price and a really half hearted attempt with this line. I'll probably just get Optimus and Megatron and call it good.

It's just that I have FF8 Eidolons PTSD over action figures made out all of rubbery plastics.

None whatsoever. The plastic felt good, just not Hasbro 6" figure good. I think there might be some confusion. The plastic used for the RED figures is NOT soft and rubbery. It's firm, just not the quality we should expect.

I’ve been on the fence with these guys, but seeing how short they are takes me firmly on the “not getting into it” side.

Aside from a few characters that may pop up, I’ll be steering clear of this line.

Yeah I have a feeling that they won't be that difficult to find once available.
And I'd feel a lot better if I could get each for somewhere around $12-$15.

Not sure I'd trust the walmart pre-orders at this point anyway. All of the netflix figures were spotted at stores long before pre-orders were filled (and there are still outstanding wave 1 preorders). And people who pre-ordered the Wave 2 Earthrise figures are receiving beauty products and other things like that instead of the actual toys

I've had a theory that I just can't shake, Walmart, Target, etc. will always make sure their brick and mortar stores are stocked before their online sites because they live off that foot traffic.

Just watched a RED Soundwave review... I will be tempted to get these if I see them in a store.
The more I've thought about it, the more I'm okay with what some consider a lack of articulation;
I don't play with my figures... Especially in this case, it is 150% a display piece.
I don't need them positioned with one leg kicked forward, or doing the splits, or doing some sort of yoga/gymnastics pose... They'll be standing, and yeah, maybe in a semi-dynamic stance, but nothing crazy.
I'll still wait until they go on sale, but I have a feeling I'll end up with both Soundwave and Megatron.
