Seibertron wrote:Just want to toss my hat in with the folks that think this sets are a big disappointment. Rereleases of toys that I already own an average of 10 each of isn't something special at this point. A new G1 styled Optimus and Megatron to replace the not-so great Classics Voyagers would be very welcomed at this point and would indeed be something special for the 30th anniversary of the movie.
This extreme re-use of molds during the past couple of years is getting frustrating!

Personal preference mate.
Kid these days needs to have a bit of TF bricks in their diet![]()
Seriously, we can never go forward without looking back to the past. Though the anime Galvatron was released over a decade a go (around 2005 iirc).
Takara back then did a bit some retooling the face, changed the battery type and added Japanese voice clips aside from the sound effects.
I own this and use the Matrix that came with him on my iPod Optimus Prime G1 colors.

Seibertron wrote:G1 reissue sets would be most appropriate since we're celebrating the 30th anniversary of the G1 cartoon movie. Regardless of what side of the argument you're on about G1 toys, the fact is that these sets are supposed to be anniversary sets for that cartoon, which was made originally to sell G1 toys. And none of the light purple lilac crap on G1 Galvatron please!!!
If, for whatever reason, the G1 toys are off the table (regardless of gun toy safety laws, mold unavailability, costs, etc), then doing some really nice slavish "Classics"/Universe/Generations "reissues" would be really nice. Do something special like make a new trailer for Classics Optimus, or do something that would set these re-releases apart from the originals. Make them truly Platinum Editions and not lazy re-releases of toys many of us own many multiples of already.
In a perfect world, these sets should be celebrating the 30th anniversary by giving us new molds of Rodimus, Galvatron, Optimus Prime, and Megatron. 3 of those molds are TEN years old already and I really don't think they're that great of toys now that I have something like Cyclonus, Wreck-Gar and Combiner Wars Superion in my collection. As for that Galvatron toy, while it would have been an awesome Voyager figure just plain isn't-all-that-great as a deluxe.
With all of that said, my basic point is this: if sets like these Platinum sets that are supposed to be celebrating the 30th anniversary aren't appealing to the very people that these sets are designed for, what's the point of them? As it stands, these sets are extremely disappointing, especially with the absurd pricing that just strikes me as an extreme slap in the face as a collector and as a Transformers fan. I am looking forward to getting to talk to the brand team about these sets at Toy Fair in 12 days.

This x infinity. It's like a veeeeeeeeeeeeeery lazy effort in Hb's part. Also tarnishes the category of "Platinum". As for the purple.....Galvatron G of Superlink purple would be BOSS.![]()
Back to Ryan's points. It's the 30th. Who the f#ck cares? Us! The 30 yr loyal fans of the original show. Not the whiny kids but us the whiny "kids at heart" who has some disposable cash to spend. At least give us a collectible piece similar to those release by Disney or the Disney in the opposite side of the Pacific (i.e. Japan)
