I just gotta finish the darn thing. I'm at the part where the Dinobots first appear, so I'm almost done. Real life issues just keep pushing back its completion.

That review was so funny I've watched it three times already. I'm a little surprised they didn't have an explosion montage. But that probably would've been over an hour long.
I haven't seen the movie yet and don't intend to. I hate to add to the hate but I watched DOTM twice and if threatened by death I couldn't tell you what it was about. The only way I can watch ROTF is with the RiffTrax. You know, the Mystery Science Theater 3000 guys?

FINALLY! The main thing I've gotten sick of in the negative opinions about AofE (that don't just dive into knee-jerk Bay-bashing) is people declaring "they didn't do the Dinobots right" without taking so much as a sentence to cite any concrete examples of TF stories they should have drawn from instead, as if it goes without saying which of the disparate depictions of Dinobots over the decades is the definitive one. This has just become most intelligent thread I've seen on the matter to date, so thank you, all of you.
For me, the Dinobots are among the few TFs for which characterizing them "right" = "the way Furman wrote them for Marvel", period. And since I long ago accepted that the dynamics of these movies make that impossible, Bay can just do whatever the Hell he wants with them AFAIC. Dumb animals that need to be broken like horses? Whatever, fine. Was it really that much less dignified than their cartoon portrayals? In a similar vein, I prefer the Primus origin in general, but the Quints are a better fit for the movies.
As for the trailer: the Sears Tower being a mistake?!? What they talkin' 'bout, Willis? China having their own Sears Tower was just more hilarious commentary on cheap knock-offs! Now, I LOVE Knock-Offs, but even I had a good laugh at that, just like I loved AofE, but this video was funnier than I thought it'd be. (Haven't been that impressed by their stuff in the past)

Back at the point in hand, the video was REALLY funny. I'm a sucker for these honest trailer things and Jon continues to amaze me with that impression of his. Never noticed how much product placement was there until it was pointed out in that fashion. Was rather surprised at how much I missed when I was watching it.

For real, why do people have problems poking fun at the movies? Taking ourselves and our hobbies too seriously is bad news bears.

Okay, see... stuff like this? Not okay. I can't speak for him, but what if English isn't his first language? You were not only exhibiting trolling behavior, but ignorance as well. Even if English is his first language, it's not your place to point out another's shortcomings.
Do not do it again.
And BERSEKAEL, jON3.0 is one of us, the Seibertronian staff. He's a friend to the fandom and this was a job, you have no right to attack him or anyone else over a satirical comedy trailer. Regardless of one's opinion, we all have no right to attack each other over it. This is stupid and needs to stop. This is embarrassing, guys. Act right.

But I think the worse crime for me personally was the autobots' characterisation. Prime continued his descent into whatever it is he is becoming. Whilst the others came across as bitching little children. I felt no empathy or sympathy for them, almost began rooting for the bad guys. The dinobots were wasted too.
Re the product placement - it's to be expected these day but they did it so blatantly and in your face that it felt insulting. But I guess there's one word even the most ardent lovers of this film would not be able to use to describe it or Michael Bay's direction : Subtle.
On the other had I appreciate they tried give a more convoluted plot that might build into something more interesting in the next film. Some of the bad guys and comic relief weren't bad. Lockdown and Galvatron were more interesting than any of the other characters.

And I don't see why product placement is such a big deal, we live in a world where it is around us 24/7. So if movies and tv shows (that are trying to base themselves in a real-world environment) want to do this, then I have no problem with it.

IMO, it really boils down to how product placement is added into a movie.
Done properly, it can be unobtrusive and effective, like the closeup of the bottle of whiskey shaking to illustrate the vibrations of the toppling building in DOTM (although why there's booze in the common area of an office is beyond me).
The scene with Tucci drinking his Shuhua milk on the rooftop was also done unobtrusively.
It gets blatant when you show several seconds of the street littered with Bud Light, and there's no explanation for it other than being product placement. Same rule as writing novels-- if you can take something out and it doesn't affect the story, it's dead weight. Just showing Walhberg drinking it would have sufficed. Product placement done well is subtle and blends into the background with still being noticeable.
With that said, I agree with you that product placement isn't a major deal breaker. Some of it could have been less obvious, though.
