I was allowed a *little* bit of alcohole at that age, admitedly it was only a watered down glass of win at the table or a couple of sips of beer or something though. It's actully very irrisponcible to completly stop your child from trying alcohole until they hit the 'legal age', becuase they will have built up no tolorence for it, and no real experience of it, and then will go over the top and get completly wasted when they can finaly buy it.

Then again, that didnt stop me getting absolutly plastered on my 19th bday....

That's terrible logic. I've been drunk one time. That was an accident caused by a 3 liter bottle of generic cola mixed with rum. Not every person goes out and gets drunk on a regular basis. If you need alcohol to have fun, then you need to rethink your idea of fun.

Most kids *want* to get drunk anyway. At least if they've built up some resistence, when they are finally let loose on the unsuspecting world of the pubs and the clubs, they'll make a bit less of a disater of their early efforts at it.
