This, I won't argue with. At least as regards Thundercracker, Dirge and Ramjet - they feel very "traditional," and seem like something that should have a wider release. I'm on the side of anyone who expresses that emotion - but at the same time, one needs to understand that it was the con, or for them to not exist at all.

Believing that the non-attendee package should be cheaper, though? You hush, chile.

I was originally thinking of using "DO NOT WAAAAANT", but I actually DO want those figures. I'm not going to be anywhere near that convention, but...but...I don't suppose there's a nice, cheaper than 200$USD for a Canadian fan like me to get them? No box needed or anything. Any suggestions?

I love Thundercracker so much.

Sigh. Looks like it's time to sharpen my model-painting skills. Anyone have recommendations for types of paint? All I have is GW stuff for my Warhammer guys. That any good?

Err, believing the non-attending price should still be considerably marked-up but not as much as the Con is unreasonable? Sorry, can't agree there chief. While I understand that the convention exclusive couldn't ever be as cheap as they would be as individual releases in stores, thinking that it's A-OKAY to expect those who can't attend to pay for all the stuff they can't attend is equally ridiculous.

While *I* couldn't justify even $200 dollars for the set, still over a 200% markup, it'd be a lot more reasonable for pretty much everyone involved.

Making it the sameprice is basically asking for those of us who can't/don't want to attend to help pay for everyone elses fun. Which is even more of a slap in the face.

And yes, reading the entire thread helps. No one said anything about the Non-attendee price until after the fact someone tried to use the non-attending price as a justification for a vastly desired toy like Thundercracker being a con exclusive.

That's if you believe that the attendee package is supposed to be some sort of cheaper alternative. But it's not. It's not FOR the people who can't afford to attend. It's for people who CAN afford it, but for some reason or another, can't go.

The toy are made specifically for the convention. That's why they're EXCLUSIVES. The notion that someone just sitting on their butt, not willing or not able to make the effort to save money and GO to the convention, can get the toys for less money than those who WILL make the effort is ludicrous.

It boils down to this: "I want the toys made specially for the con without having to go." If you can't afford GO to the convention, then, by all rights, you can't have the toys. That's how the whole notion of "exclusives" works. The very fact that FP offers a service that lets you get the toys for that price without having to incur the extra costs of actually going to the con (travel, accommodation, food, etc) is a great service in an of itself.

Nor does it give you a right to act as if you're a 'better' fan because you're willing to shell out ridiculous amounts of money for cheap toys.

Which, yes, you are. As was Getter when he posted.

Ahhhh yes I am a much better fan and a complete elitest because I can do something wonderful called SAVING. For the past 4-5 months I have been setting aside money each month, and have been buying less of other things like Star Wars, Macross and Video Games. I have been putting all the money I usually blow on other stuff aside. All of this money is going to Botcon Reg, Airfare and Hotel stay for me and my girl. Thats how I have the money, and yes it is a lot of money to go to BotCon. Im also moving to Seattle 5 days after Botcon is over .... I saved for that one too. And before you go thinking im some richie I work for FedEx Kinko's so im not that bad off in what I take in a hour, but im also not taking in huge amounts.

No, actually the part where you and getter are acting like you're better than others over this would be these lovely quotes here:

So, the only way to complete my Classics Seekers is to go to BotCon '07. Sucks for me. Then again, there's always Ebay, my second best friend. I'll just wait til it's all over & head over to Ebay. Still, I think it would've been better if the remaing 3 Seekers were released in stores. Whatever...........................

Well that sucks. Looks like I'm gonna have to buy a couple of Screamers and Ramjets and break the paint out.

I'm really longing for the old 3H days here. They were a bunch of hacks but at least their Botcons were affordable. When Master Collector and th Collectors Club took over, the prices went through the roof. A shame really, as I would like to attend another Botcon. But at the same time I also flat out refuse to give any money to anything J.E. Alverez is involved with anyway. Oh well I suppose.

Hey guys ... how about we all give it a rest from both sides of the argument. We're getting these figures as convention exclusives. It sucks for those who can't afford it or for those who live overseas. It's great for those of us who are going to Botcon. I would've preferred an exclusive convention only character as well and not something that we could've bought at retail at a 1/5th the price. Oh well. It is what it is. It's out of our control. For whatever reason, the powers-that-be decided this was the best thing to do. I don't think we need to tear each other's heads off over something we can't change and that is too late for Hasbro and Master Collector to undo in time to get us a different set for Botcon. Let's keep this in perspective. There's no need for anyone to become enemies here because of some convention exclusives.

that looks like my answer. I am eyeing my thrust and thinking of making a mould of that fan in his wing then casting that in resin or something and using green putty to mould around it.
