And now we're at the second point that I'm waiting for in this year: anybody knows when the Old Republic MMORPG will be out?

Ok, I just read the whole of this thread in one sitting. I'm not sure exactly how long it took, but I know that I lost a day off reading it... This is what I learned.

I have tons of kudos to OS for the nature of the beast he is growing in his lab. I've only been playing for about a month or so and am loving it, and from what i saw in the first teaser, it's going to be Ditto for HMWv2. Quality wise, if you are happy at launch OS, it'll be fun.

I have learned the difference between Hurling and Curling. [thanks, now i can sleep at night that that mystery is solved] :P

I know that there are going to be some people who are going to have a fit when they try to carry over their 12 cannon names to their 4 protoforms.

I have learned there is no such thing as an original american sport, just americanized sports.

I have learned that any knowledge of HMW will not be an advantage in HMWv2.

I have learned that xX:HoT-rOd:Xx will not be an opponent or ally of my Preds unless I engage the Hot Rod[npc] mission. [thanks, OS]

And Finally, I have learned that anything can be added down the line thanks to OS' new code...

On that note, I saw a question asked a few pages ago that didn't get an answer. So, I'll rephrase in the form of wishful thinking...

Oh, how cool would it be if there was an Earth expansion pack that introduced the Joe and Cobra Factions. You would still have a TF, but your 'Tactics' would be a Joe or Cobra agent as a powered down version of the defunct Minicons...

You never know, maybe they'll come up with something connecting HMW with this?

Seconded. But my only real objection is I like my TF stories to centre around TF's, and not some other franchise.

I've always liked the idea of having human minions to step on in HMW.

Maybe a GICobra adaptation of this game would work well, especially if they could be linked so we could raid each others universes. :twisted:

Ill go and see Rise of Cobra if only to see more of Sienna Miller as The Baroness.

Red's gibberish earlier about the high score tables got me thinking regarding GIJoe etc.
Now we'll have the coding for the NPC's built directly into the game allowing the staff to create and alter them when needed, we could have missions against GIJoe vehicles, a wing of TIE fighters defending the Death Star, attacking Babylon 5 or fending off a rampaging fleet of Klingon cruisers... not necessarily as part of the war game, but as an arcade-style sidegame that would just add a bit of fun, allow you to log your highscore and allow you to challenge other players?

Who knows, its even possible we could build prizes into them.

There will be expansions in the game as time progresses. There are certain things that won't be in the initial release that I wanted due to time like the Cybertron map game and other smaller things. But the way this is written they can be added later easily. Expansions in this game will never center around franchises other than transformers.

We could pay homages to things like GI Joe, Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who in some side missions where they can be fun but not overwhelm the game.

On the fact there will be side missions from other franchises, is there a possibility that by engaging in these side mission that we could earn possible alt-modes based on those franchises?

Or will we be continuing the usage of tie-fighters, HISS tanks and the Ecto-1 as standard alt forms?

I just like the idea of being able to say, "Cool, pulling a mission for Cobra on earth was different... what kind of key is this..? Yeah! I got a Destro Weapon! or I got a 1 time use Drednock Ambush! Aww, it's only useful in Earth Missions..."

GI Joe would fit, but honestly. Star Trek? Star Wars? Doctor Who? I'm not sure how much they have to do with Transformers. I know they have Star Wars/TF toys, but the other two I can only guess at. But... really... they're almost footnotes in TF history. Might as well throw Death's Head or Spider-Man. GI Joe would be cool to fit in, but I could do without the others.
