One question, will the upgrade robot mode abilities stats be included in our stat totals toward leveling up? I doesn't appear to be now and was just wondering if that will remain the case or was still being implemented.

Thank you though, really cool idea!

After all, Firepower is only needed for Strafe, and I don't think that's exactly worth Strength or Speed increase which other modes give...

Or does it boosts the weapon damage too? It'd be great if it did :)))))))...

Increasing Firepower can significantly increase strafe damage, and Strafing is a key and perhaps over-powered component of the high level game (whereas Speed becomes very weak because most attacks by that point are tactics attacks and tactics don't rely on Speed to increase hit chances - something I've always thought was stupid, but that's neither here nor there). So, for certain mid- to high-level builds, the Assault type can be a brutal addition.

QFT.

So far 19 Firepower has worked better for me than 19 Strength.

Edit: Also, it has another more practical advantage at the moment.

Strength boosts Ram Damage, Nontactic Damage, and the amount of armor you can equip right? The Melee-Robot Ability, like the Minicon, only does two of those though. It doesn't allow you to equip more armor - you need the Bulk-Robot Ability for that.

Now, Firepower boosts Strafe damage and should allow you to equip better weapons, but currently, unless you have 10Fp for the Gatling Gun, you might as well just have 3Fp for the Battleblades.

So, putting xp into the 'real' strength stat is more worthwhile than putting it into the 'real' firepower stat. Using the Assault-Robot Ability I can have my cake and eat it too. If I maxed it out, my Battleblade wielders would have an impressive 8 Firepower when strafing, and I could still afford to raise their 'real' strength to a respectable level as well.

Think we should change the title of HMW from 1.8 to 1.9. :P We not at V2 yet, but its drawing closer with each new feature OS brings out.

The Answer to my Robot Mode Question

Postby Cybertronian » Mon Oct 01, 2007 5:25 am

Omega Sentinel wrote:There is at least one of each robot type for both factions now.

Here is the list:

1. Protoform -
No abilities. Your default robot mode.

2. Melee Type -
Enhances strength

3. Recon Type -
Enhances speed and skill

4. Assault Type -
Enhances firepower

5. Bulk Type -
Enhances endurance and armor

6. Computational Type -
Enhances intelligence and courage

This helps me out a lot. Since there are (currently) so few robot modes available (maybe 16 at the lowest), could someone collaborate and post the images of them all on this thread?
:BOT: Autobot Robot Modes
    Image <- Protoform Type
    Image <- Assault Type
    Image <- Bulk Type 1
    Image <- Bulk Type 2
    Image <- Computational Type 1
    Image <- Melee Type 1
    Image <- Melee Type 2
    Image <- Recon Type
Here's what I could find of the Decepticons':
:CON: Decepticon Robot Modes
    Image <- Protoform Type
    Image <- Assault Type
    Image <- Bulk Type (1 of 2?)
    Image <- Computational Type 1(?)
    Image <- Computational Type 2(?)
    Image <- Melee Type (1 of 2?)
    Image <- Recon Type 1(?)
    Image <- Recon Type 2(?)
Let me know if this is all there is.

P.S.: I'd like to request a few new images for the next version, but if I do, this thread would explode.

Seeing as how there are different robot modes for both the Bots and the Cons, will there be different ones for the Maximals and Preds?

Recanting my last remark, I do want to share a few ideas.
  • In the Autobot BULK category, no one does Bulk better than G1 (cartoon) Ironhide (or BotCon 2005 Ironhide). Does Clocker really look that bulky? (classics Clifjumper maybe.)
  • Unless you're referring to the Targetmaster version, I'd think of G1 Cyclonus as more of an Assault vehicle than Scourge. For the Predacons, I recommend a well-posed Transquito.
  • If you want a second Bulk fighter for the Decepticons, look no further than Thunderwing (G1, outer shell).
  • For a RECON Autobot, I'd try (inner robot) Groundbreaker.

i think u divide the point u put in robot mode by 2(half) then add it to the stat
2 robot mode adds 1 more str for example

Does the "Computational" type robot mode have any kind of effect on damage absorption in battle? I ask because...

http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar ... _id=266567

In this mission here, Disrepair (Computational) only has 9 tons of Magnetic armor and 9 END but repeatedly takes only 1% damage from Gatling Gun hits (not unlike The Fallen). Yet, I have characters with 10 END and 10 tons of Electrum who take more damage from the Gatling Gun and Battle Blades (here, for example). In addition, I've noticed the Computational types don't suffer as much damage from tactics. I don't have the logs handy right now, but I've seen a character with 15 STR (10 STR, 10 Melee) only scoring 15% ram damage against a character with lower armor/END + 10 Comp.

Forgot this last night, but even a Bulk-type with 10 points in robot mode ability, 10 END and 10 tons of Electrum takes more damage from weapons (and possibly tactics) than a Computational type:

04:29, Bulk-type takes 6% damage with Battle Blades
Bulk-type takes somewhere between 7 - 10% damage from each shot with a Gatling Gun
