Metroid Prime 3
Made some headway. Found the last 2 energy cells and put them into Valhalla, thus granting me more goodies. Returned to the pirate homeworld, shut down the defense shield, led a demolition force, found the seed, and fought Ridley for chronologically the 173rd time. all seeds down. Now we need to take the Leviathan battleship.

It was $10 on Steam, I couldn't afford NOT to buy it! Well, I didn't much care for Fallout 3, and this one doesn't look too much different--Oh my God is that a cowboy robot?! Oh my God, I'm a cowboy?! With a hat and a revolver and everything?! This is the best thing ever.

Beware of the Endermen! http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Enderman

Grim Fandango [PC]:
This game is pure win. Made it to Year Two.

Unreal Tournament 3 Black Edition [PC]:
Got the Achievement for 10 Roadkills and the one for getting at least one kill in every vehicle, other than Hoverboard.

Also, you can't use every map for Deathmatch/TDM like you could in oldschool UT. In UT1, you could just copy a map from your Maps folder, paste it in the Maps folder, and change the prefix to "DM." So, if you wanted to use Facing Worlds and a DM/TDM match, copy "CTF-Face" and rename it to "DM-Face." This unfortunately doesn't work in UT3. Maybe there's just more to it this time. Must investigate further.

Duke Nukem Forever [PC]:
Played some multiplayer with a friend yesterday. CTB is much more fun knowing you have a buddy backing you up with a Devastator.

The recent patch puts in FOV adjustment (finally! I had to modify an .ini file to get that working in Borderlands) and 4-gun inventory instead of two, among other things. Good stuff.

I felt like getting in some DOUK last night at 3 AM to start my Damn I'm Good run, and accidentally my saved game. I chose "New Campaign" instead of "Chapter Select," and as a result, lost all of my Ego bonuses, including the pre-order bonus one, which from what I understand kicks in when you get all of the other ones.

So there I was at 3 AM, doing 2 System Restores and messing with my Steam Cloud syncing, trying to get my saved data back. I eventually did -- phew. Progress-wise, I made it to the radio-controlled monster truck part, fetching the power unit for the computer.

Fallout: New Vegas:
Helped some Ghouls launch themselves into space. Unfortunately, they didn't go the full Wile E. Coyote. That would have been fun to watch. Helped dissolve a hostage crisis with no deaths at all (Yay me!) and found out the guy who tried to kill me at the beginning of the game is at the Strip. So, sweet, I get to hit the Vegas Strip!

Fallout: New Vegas:
Unfortunately, so far, I haven't found any gambling, but then I've only been to the one casino. I did, however, get to meet Mr. House the brain-in-a-jar. In exchange, I was comped the presidential sweet. Since I need at least 2000 caps to get into the Strip, I was able to afford all of the upgrades. Then, I got some companions to fill it with; adorable Brotherhood of Steel scribe Veronica, angry-drunk Cass, and ED-E, a robot that really doesn't talk. Also, Victor the Robot Cowboy is my doorman which is AWESOME. One thing does strike me as odd about Lucky 38, though...why isn't anyone in here? Just a handful of robots...

Oh well, if it's significant I'm sure it'll come up sooner or later. Next I'm probably going to take a whack at Vault 34, I hear there's some nice new toys in it's armory.

Fallout: New Vegas:
Screw Mr. House and his fancy brain-in-a-jar. Screw the Legion, with their acts of pure, unarguable evil. And you know what, screw the NCR, just for the hell of it. New Vegas belongs to me.

Short version, I'm going for the Wild Card ending.

Also, I got what TVtropes considers to be the best weapons for each companion. They weren't easy to get, but now one-shots are going down left and right, so I think it paid off. i still want to do a few more sidequests before finishing up the Wild Card mission line.

I ended up supporting the NCR. Wild card was tempting but found this to be the less morally questionable 'good' ending. Ceasar's entire base went down in a Benny hill style melee as I run-n-gunned my way round his tent. but that's in the past now.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
GAME.OVER!
Rather than go for 100%, decided 82/100 pickups was enough and headed to Phaaze. Blew up Dark Samus, then the Aurora unit, then the Aurora unit a 2nd time. Then blew up the planet. it blowed up gewd!

okay, that replay's done. next up *flips a coin*, Wind waker.

LEGO Batman [360:
Played with a friend. He legitimately used the "What are you, dense? (etc)" lines, since he was playing as the Batman and I asked a stupid question.

Finished Episodes 2 and 3. I don't find it's nearly as fun as LEGO Indiana Jones. I think the "suits instead of characters" system, while more plausible, is partly to blame.

Saints Row 2 [PC]:
Finished the campaign in co-op with a friend as my Duke Nukem character. This game is so damn fun that the next thing we did was roll up up new characters and start a new game. This time I'm the host and he joins my game instead of vice-versa. There are missions and activities that are different in co-op: the host has one set of objectives while the client has another. He hosted last time, so this way we'll get to play through the content that we missed before.

Duke Nukem Forever [PC]:
Working on my Damn, I'm Good run. In the construction area, just before the part where I have to fight an alien ship. Playing with Big Heads mode on (it was a silly pre-order bonus; I might as well try it). Not sure if it affects the headshot hitbox, but that'd be nice. Also playing with Duke3D-style Freezethrower (instead of newfangled Freeze Ray) and Expanded Inventory so that I can use 4 guns instead of three.

Unfortunately, the mouse scroll cycles weapons in the opposite direction that I'm used to and there doesn't seem to be a way to remap it. I really don't feel like having to write an AutoHotKey script to fix this, though. I might just put on my DOUK shades and DEAL WITH IT.

Next up on my 'replay old games until my finances balance out and I can buy new ones' list, Wind Waker. According to my save files, untouched since 2003. For good reason? Let's find out.
Started the game, saved Tetra, lost Arryl, went to dark fortress, went all Solid Link on the place, only to get unceremoniously sent skyward into the sea. Washed up on Windfall island to find a talking boat (must've landed harder than I thought). Found a sail, won a kid's game, freed a mentally unbalanced man in green tights. Time to go sailing.

Fallout: New Vegas:
Replaced Mr. house with the Yes Man. I'm still taking my sweet time on story missions, though, since I'd like to finish up more sidequests.

Prototype:
I played this before, a decent way in, on a friend's 360. It was fun, but in Infamous vs. Prototype, it loses points for lack of originality; the gameplay is a near-perfect replica of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, the map is taken from the Spider-Man games, and Alex Mercer himself is pretty much just one of the monsters from The Thing. (The John Carpenter movie, in case anyone thought I was only uses Marvel examples) On the other hand, it gets some points back because at least it ripped off awesome stuff.

To further my continuing confusion over processor requirements, this games runs. (Minimum requirement, 2.6GHz Dual Core, my processor, 3.8 single core. I have no goddamn clue how it works) The strangest bit is, while gameplay runs perfectly fine (Occasional framerate drop here or there) cutscenes, suffering from weird audio distortion and everything slowing down. Oh well, turn on subtitles, and turn off sound, everything works out.

I'm not exactly sure what it is I'm doing. Mostly hurting Blackwatch, a PMC that is totally not yet another obvious reference to Black Water. Just prevented the Cyphers from MGS2 from discovering Alex's hot sister's apartment. Next up, I'm thinking doing more horrible things to people with my tentacles...

I just started WFC. I have to say, I don't like it.

Your guns run out of ammo way too fast, the levels are way too long, and there are way too few of them.

I do have to say, the graphics and attention to detail are amazing. I just don't like the way the campaign was plotted.

Prototype was really fun, but suffered mostly from the excess of awesome weaponry and the lack of ways to use them. The sidequest options were limited and I reached a point where I kept hitting the story missions just for something interesting to do.

Grim Fandango [PC]:
In Year 2, just missed the boat, exploring before I set sail. At the cat races.

CrimeCraft [PC]:
On again off again... Story time.

I first heard of CrimeCraft in an issue of PC Gamer years ago. I eventually got into the beta and while it was fun, it was very confusing. The beta ended, it became a subscription-based game, and I left. I heard it went free-to-play and I wasn't surprised at all, but I didn't come back. Last year, I got a "we want you back" email from them with a free week of a premium account. I took it, had a blast, but when the week ended, I stopped playing.

Got a similar email this year, but it was only 3 days of "Deluxe" membership. I figured I'd try it out. Had to make a new character since all 3 of mine are gone, probably due to the servers merging. Got her up to level 13, finished all of the phone Jobs that don't require Slot 3 weapons, did everything I could in the Moat, entered the city proper. This is where I always lose interest.

The last of direction in city always throws me off, and the missions are basically "go get completely owned in PvP; if you win, this NPC might give you something." At least I got some cool items for my character, including a cowgirl hat, a camo top, and some mods for her guns. Here's my desert camo cowgirl:

Image

Saints Row 2 [PC]:
Playing as the new characters my friend and I rolled up. Trying to get some bonus abilities that will come in handy. So far, we have the Kobra autopistols, infinite pistol ammo, infinite sprint, no falling damage, and the Car Surfing hat. Not that we use it, just that it's available.

Storywise, we've done the first 2 Ronin missions, the first Brotherhood mission, and the first Samedi mission. Two more Samedi until we get us a free helicopter.

Your guns run out of ammo way too fast, the levels are way too long, and there are way too few of them.

While I agree on the levels being a bit too long and there's only ten of them, I don't agree on the guns. They run out of ammo at about the same speed as any other set of video game weapons.

Prototype:
Lost the majority of my powers to a craaaaazy parasite that was meant to cure me. Then I managed to kill that off, gaining the Armor and Blade powers in the process.

I'm starting to think Alex, not Black Watch, is the true villain of the story. Sure, he didn't kick off everything (Well, technically, yes he did), but puts more effort into harming Black Watch than he does stopping the horrible monster plague, which Black Watch has invested much of their effort into. Cole McGrath had the option of using his powers for good; Alex Mercer is just straight-up evil.

The levels are big simply because there aren't enough of them. Weapons run out of ammo because ammo is one of the few resources in the single-player game. It also invites you to change up your arsenal depending on what's at hand. In multiplayer, you need to rely on your teammates, use Ammo Beacons, etc.

Finally got a working PC last night. It's a laptop and I plan on buying things; any suggestions as to which games I should get? Fallout New Vegas, both Dragon Ages and the first Mass Effect are already on my list and I already have ME2 on the PC.

Fable 2:

T'is a pretty cool game, but it gets a bit dull after the first half of the game where it skips ahead 10 years. I'm on that part now and I can't bring myself to finish it at the moment. Maybe because I got an awesome new computer! I broke out of some Spire Tower thing and am now back home. I think I have to find one more hero (out of three) to help me beat the main villain.
I Am.

Make sure to check the system requirements before you buy stuff, unless you want to be stuck with stuff you can't run. If there are demos or benchmark tools, give those a try to see how it plays.

Section 8: Prejudice [PC]:
Colour me surprised and impressed. This game is loads of fun, there's plenty of content, it's GFWL-supported so you get epeen points along the way, and it's on sale on Steam right now, including all of its DLC packs. Haven't tried the expansion maps yet but the expansion gear is sweet. Badass red armour, an incendiary shotgun, incendiary mortars, and a knife that hurts foes while healing you. Right on.

Story-wise, I finished the second level, which culminated in Jedi Knight-style fuel-pipeline explosion that caused spacecraft to plummet to the ground. Got 6 Achievements and reached multiplayer Level 3.

S8P is more Halo 2 than Halo 2 and has a strong Tribes feeling, too. Jetpacks, knife fatalities, vehicles, mechs, jumping out of dropships... If this sorta thing is your back, check it out!

My friends built a massive, open-air mine in a similar vein. We call it the Quarry.
